  1. I don't really understand the gaming industry, I guess. Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed were extremely good games. They told a good story, they were fun to play, and I finished them. Personally I don't want a bunch of games that overstay their welcome. I don't want every game to be a live service that expects you to play for years to come. I want a good 1-4 weeks of entertainment and then I want to move on with my life.

  3. "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids -- The Game" is easily their most efficient elevator pitch since "A New CRPG From The Makers Of Planescape:Torment + Fallout 1+2 + Icewind Dale". The latter triggered primarily nostalgia though, whereas the former was something fresh and untapped into (as to gaming anyways). On Obsidian's own traditional genre home turf, Larian (The "definitive" D&D Simulator) and Warhorse (Dungeons WITHOUT Dragons, Medievals for REALZ) recently found a lot catchier ideas. And if the latter don't blow it, "OMG! LOTR -- but it's finally a proper single-player RPG!!!" will be huge too. IMO.
  4. Among most of the mantid species and many more, in the compound eyes of our tiny skittering friends is a little black dot that you might not see unless you get really close. Its a pupil! That always seems to follow you, it makes you think you have its undivided attention! But alas it is a ruse! It is the pseudo pupil, doing its job in making you think it knows you are there. It is an optical illusion caused by light reflecting off the eye cells, only mostly absorbed on the cells closest to you causing a black dot! You can even see it in mantis shrimp! Its really niche but when I encountered the mantis (after not noticing it) i immediately checked if it had a pseudo pupil because that would just be awesome and give a few players a bit of a fright! (On the other side of learning something amazing!) but i couldnt see the elusive dot chase me. It would be awesome and it seems really small, if it could be added. I love my bugs too much to see their beautiful evolution be squandered in interpretation (and maybe glossing over the detail) Still scared of if you add ant mimicking spiders.

  11. I love Grounded 2 so much (so far...), but I think the game is moving in the wrong direction and I know exactly what it needs. For me, all I want you to do is focus less on making a ton of big updates and focus on making small updates that make the game more accessible (implementing more reworked survival mechanics, like seen in the first Grounded). I understand this is so much harder than I make it out to be. Accessibility is a very, very broad term. And I know: But, what I ultimately want is updates with more meaning to the player base than reusing assets and making a few good quality changes. Making smaller and less stress-inducing updates for the entire development team is very possible, but you can also still get more money from a small game like this. All you need to do is make small steps in a better direction. I understand that Grounded is not a super huge game, and I don't think it can be without updates, but you wouldn't want people who will pay a decent amount to play a good game go play something more entertaining for much less. People will buy Grounded 2, it's a given, but what they really want is a good game (with as many interesting concepts as possible). And, at the very same time, people who originally played Grounded will not buy the game if they dislike the changes your making like a lack of survival mechanics (removal of all craftable tools in placement of the omni-tool and more focus on fighting bugs and other animals). So, I think that a good middle Grounded is focusing more on what made people interested in Grounded (the first). Although this is all pretty difficult, it's really not much harder than I draw it out to be. The very hardest step you can make is continue to strain yourself by making more and more of the same updates you are most likely going to keep making. Taking direct inspiration from Grounded features that are not covered in Grounded 2 will make new players happy because these ideas are interesting, but Grounded veterans will love this content more because it makes them very happy and loved. And no, I don't think Grounded fans hate Grounded 2. They just don't feel that the game is similar enough to the original Grounded. And I think everything you have in the game, so far, is over plentiful for what a sequel needs. But, taking even a little bit of this suggestion is a very important step to making a better game and also making a decent amount of money. I know I have never developed a game, but I understand well enough what good sequels do well and what will make a good game. I am not much smarter than the person reading this, but I know for a fact that this suggestion will get you the results you want for the game and even more. People will obviously be mad with every update after this idea, but for the most part, this is best suggestion I can give you for making a really solid video game.
  12. I think that the "Buggy Buffin' " system should be changed to reflect a more rpg style upgrade system. In its current state, I don't really need or want to upgrade my buggy because the benefits aren't just good enough. Like for example, the orb weaver upgrade barely upgrades it's damage and only gives it more health. So I propose an idea for this to be better and not locked to only tier 5 (Since that's the highest tier and seemingly the last tier you can upgrade your buggy towards) as the ending upgrade. What if the "Buggy Buffin' " system was more akin to a typical RPG game like Skyrim or even like fallout? What if instead of upgrading health and damage you could upgrade or buy new abilities for your bugs, like an upgrade for the ladybug that allows it to heal the player too, or an upgrade for the orb weaver that allows it to shoot stronger webs?
  13. Thinking about the undershed area of Grounded 1 and thinking how cool it would be if there was a section of the park that's largely underground and you have to traverse it via a lab built into mole tunnels

I'm sure we all have a bug that we would like to see in grounded 2. And with all of the new ones added already, who can blame us for having high hopes. So I'm sure I'm not the first person to suggest a new bug variant, especially when it comes to buggies. Since the announcement of the new game I have had my hopes set on one type of buggie. The jumping spider, the cutest of all spiders. Groundeds animation style lends perfectly to making a jumping spider one of the most loved buggies in the game. And that's just appearance. When it comes to function, I feel like it could be one of the most useful buggies for traversing the park. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has gotten the glitch with the orb weaver that makes it's jump super powered. That type of mobility is exactly what the jumping spider could offer. This buggie could aid in parkour challenges along with quick evasion in a fight. There are many different types of jumping spiders and any of them could be an excellent choice. On average, they are slightly bigger than an ant, which makes them the perfect in-between of the orb weaver and the ant buggies. This can allow them to travel easily through difficult areas such as the hedges or underground tunnel systems. This could also open the opportunity for a web hammock, since jumping spiders make hammocks instead of the typical web. A small addition that could be made to the buggies overall because of the addition of the jumping spider is the ability to train the buggies to do tricks. Jumping spiders are highly intelligent and capable of performing simple tricks. It would be wonderful to be able to teach the buggies to roll over and play fetch. With the jumping ability of this new spider variant, it would be interesting to have the ability to cling onto the vertical objects in the game. Not necessarily a full wall climb, but a slight sticky effect that allows you to cling to the wall but slowly slide down as you do. Allowing you to jump up and out from a wall or a tree. When used right, this could allow you to climb the tallest objects. For example the podium west of the statue or the hot dog stand. I would love to be able to access the top of the hot dog stand. Lastly, I just want to bring up how adorable jumping spiders are again. The big eyes, the iridescent mandibles, the fluffy fur. I really do think the jumping spider could be one of the most loved buggies in grounded 2. P.S. I apologize if I'm not the first to suggest this and that I may be late to party on this one. If not, please share this if you agree that grounded 2 needs jumping spiders

I also think jumping spiders would be an amazing addition to grounded 2, but what i thought of when possibly adding them would having them as a pet like in the first game with aphids and weevils rather than a new buggie, they could be tamed with some sort of aphid soup made in the oven or something. Jumping spiders are known for making slack lines to catch themselves incase they miss their prey and then they can climb back up there web to try again, so I was thinking that the jumping spiders could latch to your back and act as a way to repel from builds and places in the environment. They could also potentially make single use ziplines/bridges by starting its web on one side of a gap and jumping to the other side and completing its zipline/bridge. I think this would fit perfectly with the upcoming update that will be adding ziplines.
  16. So I had a thought. Anyone play the N64/Wii era Zelda games? They had a weapon called the Hookshot. Basically, you could use it in your off-hand to pull small bugs to you or pull yourself to larger bugs. You could zip & cling to walls or latch onto larger creatures, like the snake. And of course, use it to reach high areas. Maybe even add a grab & swing mechanic. Or go the whole way & put one on each hand to web-sling across the park. Like I said, just a thought.
  17. I thought grounded 2 should definitely get couple of new aquatic bugs in Grounded 2 besides just the diving bell spiders , water boatmen and Water Fleas so I thought of two that would appear in a U.S. park Water Striders - Harmless : water Striders are on ponds skimmering across the surface of the water snatching up any insects that it wants for lunch , water Strider drops water Strider legs Leeches - Aggressive : Leeches are located in ponds and rivers , leeches drops Leech hide .
  18. I thought some new beetles would be something to see in Grounded 2 , so i picked some that I thought would be in a park in America Stag beetle - Aggressive : Stag beetles are know for being around gardens or dead wood , as for what they would drop Stag beetle part and stag beetle pincers which could be used to make a sword or a spear . Regular Beetle - Harmless : A Regular beetles can pretty much be found everywhere as for what they would drop I'm guessing beetle parts that could be used to make a shield . Pink Spotted Lady Beetle - Harmless : Pink Spotted Lady Beetles can usually be found in gardens or wooded areas , they would drop pink Spotted lady beetle parts that can be used to make healing armor kind of like regular lady bug armor but better .

A lot of people are wanting a flying buggie. I think that would break the game since it would be able to fly over all obstacles. A cricket or grasshopper buggie could be a good middle ground. High jumps that traverse large areas without totally skipping everything

I think this is a great idea for mid to late game. I agree that the flying buggies would kinda break the game. Maybe they can add a flying buggies late game, or when you beat the game. Either or.
  21. I think it’d be really cool if we could actually raise the buggies from an infant state by feeding and protecting it from predators. I’d also like to feed the adults too! Or at least it’d be cool if even when we aren’t using certain buggies that can still exist outside of their nesting structure and just roam nearby or exist beyond as a tool for the player. I do appreciate that we can pet them a lot! I just want to be able to interact more really, I love my lil buddies :>. I do get that some people may not like that mechanic so maybe it can be toggled? Like how creative mode can be with or without the bugs.
  22. As the title suggests, I hope to see more special derivative attacks on higher-level creatures. This would greatly enhance the interactive feel of combat! It would be incredibly satisfying! For example, if the player makes a dodge move at a certain moment, the insect would generate a special attack that the player must react to instantly. On a side note, I feel that the current feints of scorpions and mantises don't quite achieve a truly deceptive effect. Even if you miss, their subsequent attacks still give you ample time for a second parry. I think that to use feints to deceive the player into a perfect parry, the player's reaction time must be reduced in the next attack after the feint. For example (though unrelated to derivative skills), in the first game, the Mantis's Orchid Scyther, when it looks around, unleashes a three-hit ground slam combo. This gives new players little reaction time; you might need to practice a few times to avoid being instantly killed by the same move. This design gives you a sense of improvement, that's what I mean. It would be better to design certain attacks as points where the player must break through. I think the feints could be improved. From my first encounter with the Mantis larva, I've never been fooled by its feints and taken its next attack, the reaction time is far too ample. However, the current bugs, like the Tarantula's five-hit combo, are much slower than the Tarantula in the first game. This reduces the feeling of accumulating experience and successfully breaking through, but the defensive counterattack design of this generation of Tarantulas is really cool, I love it!

Grounded ideas Fish would be extremely too big for a person the size of grounded characters to catch. So let’s think about insects that are water dwelling and fit the scale of the game. What are some super tiny water bugs that we could “fish” Ah, I see—you’re scaling down “fishing” to a tiny, tabletop or video game scale, so the fish would be far too large, and you need water-dwelling insects or small critters instead. Here’s a list of tiny aquatic organisms that could work as “fishing” targets for your grounded characters: ⸻ 1. Water Striders (Gerridae) • Skim the surface of ponds and streams. • Can be “caught” with nets or small lures. • Fun mechanic: they’re fast and jumpy, making them tricky to catch. 2. Water Boatmen (Corixidae) • Swim under the water, feed on algae and detritus. • Small and manageable size for tiny characters. • Could be “harvested” with tiny traps. 3. Backswimmers (Notonectidae) • Swim upside down, small but active. • Can be mildly aggressive if disturbed—fun for gameplay. 4. Mosquito Larvae / Pupae • Live at the water surface. • Easy to gather, maybe in bulk. • Could serve as “bait” for slightly larger water bugs. 5. Daphnia (Water Fleas) • Tiny, plankton-like creatures. • Perfect for very small-scale “fishing.” • Could be a food source or crafting ingredient in your game. 6. Mayfly Nymphs / Caddisfly Larvae • Live in freshwater streams. • Could be hidden under rocks or in the substrate. • Provide a little challenge to catch. 7. Pond Skaters’ Relatives / Springtails • Found at water edges or floating surfaces. • Jumping ability adds an interactive element to fishing mechanics. ⸻ 💡 Gameplay Note: You could combine different types for variety—like a “rare catch” mechanic, where some species are easier to find but less valuable, and others are harder to catch but give better rewards. Using insects instead of fish also opens up creative interactions like nets, traps, or lures made from leaves or pebbles
  24. from what I Understand or from what I've heard besides the Mysterious Stranger there is another Secret Villain that might be connected to Dr.Tully or to Omiment at least ,so I thought what if this Secret Villain looked into Dr.Tully's other projects he's worked on , well specifically the Mant project and this Secret Villain decided they wanted not only to improve the Mant , but also wanted to make more Insect/Human Hybrids to use for world domination or something like that and I imagine other Human/insect would probably be more horrifying than the Mant I think a few Hybrids should be able wield weapons to make the tougher Improved Mant - an improved version of the Mant the Human/Ant Hybrid , the Improved Mant is smaller than the Original Mant , the Improved Mant is weaker than the Original one but it makes up for it with numbers and can wield weapons , There are Three kinds of the Improved Mant and they are : Crimson Mant - these are Red Ant/Human Hybrids they Wield Daggers Gloom Mants - these are Black Ant/Human Hybrids they Wield Axes Fiery Mants - these are Fire Ant/Human Hybrids , the Fiery Mant spits Boiling Acid they Wield Swords with Spicy effects Marachnid - the Marachnid are Orb weaver/human hybrid , the Marachnid has six limbs instead eight limbs that the Regular Orb weaver has , Marachnids wield Swords . Heetle - the Heetle is an Black Ox Beetle/Human Hybrid , Heetles have thick hides just like the Black Ox Beetle and are Almost as Strong as them too , they Wield big Hammers . Masp - the Masp is a Wasp/Human Hybrid , Masps patrol through the air Looking for the players , Masps Wield Rapiers . Lobo Marachnid - a Wolf Spider/Human Hybrid , the Lobo Marachnids Have Six Limbs instead of Eight limbs that the Regular Wolf Spiders have , they Wield Swords with a sour Effect or poison effect whatever works I guess . Aqua Marachnid - a Aqua Marachnid is a Diving Bell Spider/Human Hybrid , Aqua Marachnids Have Six Limbs instead of Eight limbs that Diving Bell Spiders have , Aqua Marachnids patrol the pond looking for the players , Aqua Marachnids Wield Spears . Blast Heetle - The Bombardier Beetle/Human Hybrid , Blast Heetles can spit out Boiling Acid just like Bombardier Beetles , they Wield Maces Onyx Marachnid/Boss - this is the Hybrid of a Black Widow Spider/human , the Onyx Marachnid has six limbs instead of Eight limbs that the Black Widow has , the Onyx Marachnid could be used as boss that acts like a guard for this secret villain that we don't know , the Onyx Marachnid wields Scimitars with a poison effect this would be the strongest and Deadliest Hybrid .

I was mildly irritated by the way the spider buggy in particular gets in your way when you're farming things, because they wander around and you end up mounting them by accident, so I thought it would be good to add a "go and wait over there" command, but this could be expanded to all sorts of commands - like "attack that", "fetch that", "stand on that pressure plate" etc.
  26. This is Reduvius Personatus (or the Masked Hunter bug) I was thinking of the Playground area which is more than likely going to be like the sandbox from the first game. Obviously there will be antlions, but I was thinking of a bug that could replace the antlions in some situations. I present you, with Reduvius Personatus. They can attach things like sand grains to their bodies, and at night, actively hunt prey. If there's going to be a sandy area, there are more than likely going to be a ton of new bugs to help diversify, (example: Camel Spiders, new scorpion variants, and even the adult Antlions), but I wanna just throw this one out there. For how it would be likely encountered or fought, I'd imagine it be like if you gave a Northern Scorpion steroids. They're incredibly stealthy, venomous, and very fast. With them being mostly nocturnal hunters, traveling the playground area at night (to avoid sizzle damage) would mean you'd have to constantly be ready to fight one. I have no idea what tier they'd be put into, but I personally would put them T3 or above. The main issue in terms of combat however, is that they use paralyzing enzymes to rapidly immobilize prey. I don't know how this would work, because I feel like this would be largely unfair due to how quick you'd be able to die to one. A paralyzing effect could be added where it builds up like chill, slowing you down over time but with the added negative effect of that it damages you too. As for their size, since Obsidian has taken a lot of creative liberties in the sizes of creatures and the world around us, so I genuinely have no clue for how big they could be in game. If you have any suggestions for this, don't hesitate to add them in the replies

Can we get more species of moths in the new grounded? New colors and weapons and maybe even boss fights? I think that would be pretty cool.

Suggestion for isopods?? There super cute, they clean soil could have so many use cases as a pet/helper bug and would be the perfect cute bug for this game. There are so many different types the devs could choose from, these specifically are dairycow, rubber ducky and dwarf white isopods but there are soooo many more amazing types. I would love to hear anyone's ideas on what these could be used for.
  29. 1 point
I like the dairy cow Isopods, they could be used for many different things, depending on how big they would be. dairy cow isopods clean up, waste, dead leaves, and other organic matter. They are also known as a nutrient food source because they contain a lot of calcium, well nutrient for reptiles and such but anyways, if they were bigger they could be killed and used for food, armor and more, if they were smaller maybe, we could befriend them? And they could clean up the stuff we don’t want, they could function as a walking trash can lol. isopods is a great idea and I’d love to see more ideas 😄
  30. I dont know if you going to open a separate thread for Grounded 2, but I not I'll put my idea here. I think I would be really cool to make and armor like the ant lion armor, but for the cold. Like for the icecream cart? Because it is so cold, you need this armor to stay warm
  31. I think adding in a Goliath Birdeater would be an amazing extra boss like the infected broodmother from the first game
  32. My top insect list I’d love to see added: -green lacewings (adult larvae) - wooly aphids (could be a way to stay out of the cold) -wooly caterpillar (a higher tier way to not freeze) -Flies could roam at the top of trash can (a little bigger than gnat) -crickets/grasshoppers (jump boost) -silverfish -stick bug (could use its parts for building walls or something) - Kudzu bug, it’s pretty much a smaller stink bug, just round and olive green in color? They could be fast and agile.
  33. Hello, I think Grounded 2 would be a perfect time to add a Necromancer playstyle. Necromancer staff - themed after the fungal infection from the first Grounded. Allows you to raise dead bugs to fight for you. Necromancer mutations and armor sets could improve upon this playstyle by increase duration and/or number of summons. Making undead bugs explode when killed. Adding venom/poison damage to their attacks or when attacked. An undead "buggie" mount would also be a wonderful thematic addition with pros and cons to differentiate it from living buggies. Balancing necromancy - undead bugs either have a time limit till they fall apart and/or a limit to the number of summons. Raising a dead bug could prevent you from looting it since it needs to be whole to function and the parts are no longer usable due to decay after raising. Limit tier of raised bugs. The necromancer staff upgrades allow for higher tier bugs to be raised but starts out only allowing low tier bugs at first. Overall I think a necromancy themed playstyle would be a fun addition that plays well with the summoning playstyle that existed in the first game and the fungal infection provides a great in-universe theme for it all to follow. Can't wait to play Grounded 2!
  34. I have an idea for a boss it would be really cool but a assassin bug as a boss would be awesome and it could give you bug parts to make armor and weapons like a scythe
