  1. Eh, honestly, Sapkowski is just a Polish guy, who doesn't care much for videogames. He has a formal, direct way of speaking which comes out as critical or negative when translating into English. There are bitter undertones to the English article, that I don't sense at all when reading the original. All he says about games and CDPR is very respectful, and praises them multiple times but he just doesn't throw empty praise the way english speakers would do. He didn't play Witcher games, and is familiar with "graphic materials" only - which could be screenshots, or trailers or snippets of the game. What he does though is draw a clear line between his work, and CDPR's adaptation. He isn't critical of their work, he just considers it to be its own thing. A new work based on his characters, not a continuation of it - and as someone who read all the books - he is absolutely right.

  2. Interstellar (2014). You know, if I had remembered that this was directed by Christopher Nolan, I probably wouldn't have had it on my watchlist for like the past six or seven years. It's not as dumb as Gravity, but...ergh, I just get frustrated with Hollywood films like this where it seems like the fate of the human race is hinging on some interpersonal character drama that just feels kind of overwrought and phony. Like, I know the basics of stories and character emotions and the human experience will all stay the same no matter whether it's between two characters in a dark cave or a trained crew of hundreds on a spaceship hurtling towards a black hole, but...but really, that's why it's all the more frustrating when it feels like something takes a big swing and an equally big miss. I had a pretty similar experience with that 90s Jodie Foster film, Contact...but at least there, you've got Jodie Foster starring instead of Matthew McConaughey, which helped a lot.

  3. Pre-Avowed playthrough of Deadfire completed. Used some light mods, mandatory Community Patch, plus XP rebalance, which worked pretty well. I think this is a playthrough I enjoyed the most. Small narrative additions and DLCs, I think make Deadfire much stronger narratively, and enough time has passed for me to be able to assess it with a fresher pair of eyes.

  4. I just realised that you can have 15 guile and that gambit refund is guaranteed. I guess I have to stack accuracy since graze will automatically fail it. So rapiers with the modal on. Human, Dungeon gloves, cap of the laughing stock, frau nils, aenalys, alchemical brawn and guile. What else ? If I am right you need 50 accuracy more than enemy defense in order to never graze. For defense I am using giftbearer and hyleas food and resting bonuses. Its so nice having an unlimited full attack. It's almost cheating. I am playing streetfighter for the recovery. Cause I had to choose between vanish and gambit. I chose gambit because its not limited. After I am done vanishing gambit won't refund as its below 100% hit to crit.

  6. Hey @Trinmob89, I'm sorry you are running into the same issue. I may have already been told about you having this issue as someone from our Player Support team asked me to test the site to make sure applications were still coming in and indeed they still are and does allow us to submit on various browsers and PCs. We aren't quite sure why you and Notserpent are running into this issue, but our backend web developer is trying to figure out what the cause might be. In any case, you did the right thing reaching out to the support channels as they will get your resume submitted for you One question that did come to mind was if you happen to use any VPN software? I'm curious if that might affect our system from interacting with users. Hopefully we can get this sorted out so you and others don't run into this issue in the future. Thank you for letting us know about this issue and for submitting an application to join us on our adventures in making worlds for our players!

  7. Yeah, for me Nolan films generally feel like they're too full of themselves and demand a respect they haven't earned. For me he's in a similar sphere as Tarantino, a talented guy whose films just aren't interesting to me and would actually benefit from more constraints instead of massive budgets.

  13. Was in the mood for a 4x game, picked Stellaris although I wonder if it is considered such. The way they do wars in the game seems a bit silly.

  14. Not directed at anyone here: The constant refrain of people saying "I hope AMD/Intel are able to compete with Nvidia because Nvidia is the worst" is truly hilarious when it's also always paired with those exact same people refusing to ever buy anything except for Nvidia. Neither AMD or Intel are going to compete at the top-end any time soon, so either A. get used to not owning the top-end GPUs or B. get used to waiting months for the honor of being able to pay thousands of dollars to Nvidia for a GPU that's hardly better than the previous gen. And here come the tariffs...
