Well, as Rosbjerg wrote, they only f up the games they work on themselves. Everything outside their studio like Dishonored and Wolfenstein or Fallout New Vegas is actually pretty good.

According to research, it's always been better for the industry when bigger game companies to go out of business.

The (once) employees get to go and join or start a new indie company which only produces better games than the AAA company that got shut down.

But this is how game companies like Obsidian, Tango Gameworks and others have formed in the first place - the gathering of the dead, but realistically Bethesda 'seems' to be doing okay financially. So there's no worry there.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Funny though how it was Hillary going after Rockstar in the past with that Hot Coffee, showing the ridiculous reach the party spectrum has proving there's little difference between the two.

I'll probably buy this sooner than later:

For our local DRM fanatic mkreku: https://www.pcgamer.com/denuvo-drm-performance-final-fantasy-15/

"Denuvo DRM has no performance impact on Final Fantasy XV"

A much better test than the one he previously linked, since they tested with different thread settings where it actually clearly makes a difference. Though it's not quite "no performance impact", since it would seem to have a minor effect on load times, it's really close.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

Agreed, much better article than before. Though I am missing testing on a computer without SSD. Denuvo uses a lot of writing to disk, so this benchmark would be very interesting to see as well. Still hat off to the guy, who tried to implement as objective as possible circumstances for the testing.

not sure why this triggered me so much

I don't mind anime in general but I try to avoid those things too. Waifu hunters and such, it's kinda a weird niche thing on Steam. When the games are bad, they get positive reviews by kids with raging hormones. That type of player base...

Whatever they up to, it can be anything, I hope it doesn't involve gamebryo.

They just don't write games that are sufficiently distinct or innovative with that stack of technology.

Whatever Bethesda is doing, hope it's a new IP, something non-open world/linear and please let it not be riddled with bugs.

Those seem like unrealistic hopes. If that is what we are doing here, I would like to throw in my hopeful vote that Bethesda is re-launching Blades of Steel.

Professionally settings ourselves up for disappointment, I see.

Ok, I'll join: it also won't be padded with DLC that they outsource to their community through their paid-DLC programme.

Denuvo uses a lot of writing to disk...

Source?

And yes, much better test. And again it seems to not affect performance.

Feel free to source all those claims that bad performance comes from Denuvo.

Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!

Hopefully groups have better luck against it, then the performance stuff is a moot point

Feel free to source all those claims that bad performance comes from Denuvo.

It works by decrypting the executables on the fly, so

a) It would make no sense to even make any read/write operations to a drive - the last thing you want is to write new data to disk that can be plainly read. The decrypted data is quite likely to be stored in memory, a claim that Denuvo's statement would support, and there's no data to contradict this.

b) If there's any performance impact, it's on loading times, not the game itself - for the very same reason. And considering games using Denuvo tend to be modern titles ran on machines with beefy CPUs, well... Visible improvement is rather unlikely.

Apropos of Nothing, I feel like I've been waiting a decade for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord (I know it hasn't actually been that long).  What are the chances it comes out this year?

None. Absolutely zero.

To my great dismay :(

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L.
