Well, I don't know if anybody from Beths or Arkane Studios is reading this but I would LOVE to see a Dark Messiah of Might & Magic 2.

I think I'd take a spiritual successor, a fresh job of paint could lead to a new IP with legs. But I did really love what they were doing with that game.

As long as the kick is still ridiculously OP.

Battlefront 2 has the new contender for The Best Way How To Screw Customers Award this year.

Destiny 2 with it’s new DLC, locks out the owners of Vanilla game, out of content, they previously owned. Most of the endgame content, which was available to all players is now locked behind the DLC. People are pissed so much, that they are refunding the base game, and at least XBox is fulfilling thes requests.

More info about the issue in the video after 13 minutes mark.

That reminds me of how completely horrible and cringey the narrative and characters were in that game. Too bad, given the singleplayer campaign really was actually pretty decent otherwise.

Remember how BioShock promised people that you could use the environment against the enemy? Remember how DMoMM did that much better with less money/development time?!

Dang...those were the times.

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Dunno, I'm rather partial to dream cutscenes involving random demoness nudity and dead people dancing with each other on ships so I thought it was OK, if a bit generic. Plot etc was nowhere near as good as randomly kicking people off great heights or onto conveniently placed spike traps but then very little is as good as that.

AAA developers always making those promises lmao

The only games where developers have actually developed on those types promises?

Single-player narrative-driven cinematic story games, such as Tell-Tale games, Life Is Strange, Quantum Break, etc where developers said "Every choice you castly affects the storyline." Which is true at least.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Barely true. Yes, your actions do have a minor effect on the storyline in Life is Strange and The Walking Dead / Tell-Tale games, etc. but the final effect is marginal at best. Which makes sense, considering the amount of additional work all the possible permutations would be. Still, everytime they market something with "your actions have big effects on the story!" I can't stop rolling my eyes, because it's either a lie, or at best, a big stretch.

Yeah, I never understood the whole "this is a super choice-driven game where your decisions have serious consequences" warning that Life Is Strange did at the beginning of every chapter. It just wasn't really true. I guess it's just a part of marketing, because advertising the game as merely being a somewhat interactive but utterly linear movie-game would make it seem kind of dull, even though that's pretty much exactly what it is (and is pretty good at it, too).

Wow, thanks to you guys, I'm going to be dreaming about Alpha Protocol all night and will have to replay it in the coming days, setting me back on my games list.

Hope you're happy. :(

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. They should have spend the money on a "act 3 addon" kind of deal. That's where I would have put my money. Not yet another stupid "survival" game.

That was the point of Life Is Strange though, to be an almost film-like interactive session. Same thing with Quantum Break which has 2 versions of every television episode which changes depending on your choice (probably why these games are so short).

But at least those two endings are very limited and are both more focused and better written than those rpg's that have 8 different endings at the end of the day :p

Star Citizen drama (seems that's what Roberts produces most! :p)

http://www.pcgamer.com/star-citizen-crytek-lawsuit

Crytek has filed a lawsuit against Cloud Imperium Games over the use of its Cryengine technology in Star Citizen, alleging that Crytek licensed the engine to CIG at a below-market rate in exchange for a prominent display of its trademarks in Star Citizen. That's no longer happening because the game is now running on Amazon's Lumberyard engine, but the problems actually started well before that.

"Defendants knew Crytek's right to display its trademarks and copyright notices in the Star Citizen video game and related marketing materials was a critical component of the GLA [Game License Agreement]. Yet, by at least September 24, 2016, Defendants' co-founder Chris Roberts publicly sought to minimize Crytek's contribution to Star Citizen, stating that 'we don't call [the video game engine] CryEngine anymore, we call it Star Engine'," the suit states.

"Shortly thereafter, Defendants removed Crytek trademarks and copyright notices from the Star Citizen video game and related marketing materials in breach of the GLA."

I'm guessing after all these years they simply forgot about this detail. Otherwise they could easily have kept in the logos and be done about it.

Crytek should -for starters- port the Crysis trilogy to the current gen consoles because I for one wouldn't mind buying a remastered collection of all 3 games. Another winning card that they still might have up their sleeve are the rights to the TimeSplitters series. A remaster or an entire reboot of the franchise could have some chance of success for them.

Better yet: release the original TimeSplitters PS2 games on the PS4, surely you guys can emulate three PS2 games on the PS4, can't you?! :(

EDIT: It seems that Titan Quest and Wasteland 2 are getting Nintendo Switch ports.
