Politics - Episode 9: The Lurking Fear

The US sells planes to France, It's possibly a joint base. Or a plane in for service. It's also the US colors, I know tricolors aren't so unheard of in the states, and that isn't exactly a perfect French Tricolore.

It's a USAF F-15C Eagle. Frankly given France's love affair with protectionism the French would eat a jellyfish venom mousse at a Shenyang reception before buying another foreign-made fighter, the last time that happened being the F-8 Crusaders for their Clemenceau carriers back in the Cold War.

Quote
“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

-Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>>
Quote

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

For those of you who opposed the Citizens United decision. Re-thinking it in the age of Trump: http://reason.com/blog/2017/07/25/trump-attacks-on-washington-post-illustr

For those of you who thought it was the right decision and free speech should be free no matter who is speaking, pat yourself on the back.

pat pat pat

Because conservatives wanted to smear Clinton they succeed to get SC decision that now prevents them blocking liberals from smearing Trump, which forces them to use "Fake News" defense. I see irony in that.

There's no irony. Free speech is free for everyone. Also "Fake news" is a term liberals came up with, only to have it boomerang in their faces since they're the main purveyors.

Why is there no info that he was talking about arresting MS-13 gang members in this article?

It is linked at the end of the article: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/watch-live-trump-trumpet-ms-13-crackdown-long-island/

But given the President is endorsing police brutality, clearly PBS believed it deserved a separate article.

Oh yes those brutal police not placing their hands on the fragile little snowflake heads of MS-13 gang members, those bastards.

Ah. So police brutality is acceptable depending on context?

Hilarious because especially in the case of hardened gangbangers, violence does absolutely nothing to deter them. Those guys are willing to go up against los zetas without batting an eyelash. You think hitting their heads on police cars or being roughed up a bit by cops while "resisting arrest" is going to accomplish anything, other than possibly a bunch of lawsuits that taxpayers have to pick up the tab for?

Nah. It's only internet badasses like you that fear police brutality, when you just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And they can't rough up innocent people they arrest or people that aren't violent offenders. In theory anyway, pretty sure the soldato do what they want.

The cops applauding that is one reason that kid playing NWA at the cop's funeral was a good thing.

Brutalizing criminals turns them into victims and ends up distracting the whole process of justice. Law enforcement should not dole out punishment.

Policer thuggery is never acceptable. The police should be better than the thugs they arrest let alone   beating up on the accused or the arrested is not a good diea since it is supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. EPIC FAIL

The quickest way to fix the ACA is to force Congress to have to buy it. They exempted themselves from it back in 2010. As they usually do, after all "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others."

Yep. By standing up to MS-13 ai'm soooo weak and you are soooo strong by giving in to them and defending them. You are the hero of the nation.

I'm sure MS-13 is soooo scared of a guy standing up to them in a forum they will never read.

When half of the congress consist of millionaires, I don't think that is that big initiative

And I am not sure if exempted is right term to use but they aren't full participants either at least according to this snopes post

http://www.snopes.com/members-congress-health-care/

"Prior to the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as ACA, or Obamacare), members of Congress received the same healthcare insurance benefits as any other federal employee through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, or FEHBP.

During the mark-up of the ACA bill, however, lawmakers inserted a provision (Section 1312(d)(3)(D)) that requires members of Congress and designated congressional staff members to obtain their health insurance through ACA exchanges rather than continue to receive their healthcare coverage through the FEHBP.

As of 1 January 2014, Members of Congress (MOC) and Congressional staff purchase their insurance through the District of Columbia’s small business health options program (SHOP) exchange, also known as DC Health Link. Contrary to popular belief, Congressional members do not receive free health care. As it does for other federal employees who purchase their insurance through the FEHBP, the federal government provides a subsidy equivalent to 72 percent of the weighted average of all FEHBP premiums.

Therefore, MOC and staff pay approximately 28 percent of their annual healthcare premiums through pre-tax payroll deductions.

Although DC’s SHOP offers a total of 57 different ACA insurance plans at the bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels, the Office of Personnel Management has ruled that MOC and staff may only receive the employer contribution if they purchase insurance at the gold tier. If we look solely at the District of Columbia’s SHOP health plans and federal employer contributions, Members of Congress receive benefits very similar to those enjoyed by any employee of a large company.

The bottom line is this: Members of Congress and their staff members are required by law to purchase their health insurance through the exchanges offered by the Affordable Care Act. However, the federal government subsidizes approximately 72 percent of the premium cost."

Actually, you'd be surprised how many people are willing to wait for a payoff and how little it matters if the goods are defective. The customer will complain but that is why products are sold to retailers and not directly to the customer and on the case of a niche product you could easily pack up and start again. It is real easy to scam people and turn it into a business, all you need is the right pedigree and the right connections.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

List out how you are effectively standing up to MS-13. Also, saying Trump's statement was garbage in no way means one is siding with MS-13. Only cop bootlicks make arguments along those lines.

BTW Malcador, you were right it seems. This whole trans ban thing was all Trump's idea, not a reccomendation from the JCS. Apparently he felt there was not enough chaos in his administration and had to stir up some more.

Like I've been saying for 9 months now... don't blame me I voted for Johnson.
