Osvir Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) World map of Eora: Edited February 2, 2017 by Osvir 2
Messier-31 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Osvir, mate, that is the Eastern Reach only, not the whole of Eora. Mazisky, unfortunately no official map yet. 5 It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air...
Mazisky Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 Yeah, there is not a map of Deadfire yet. I wonder if we will have many environments, because we already know about deserts and tropics, but who knows if there will be some tundra or such 2
Osvir Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) Oh, well... darn!I thought it was weird cus there's not many islands in the South I'm wondering if there'll be any Pearl Coast areas in Deadfire (read something about Pirates on or from the Pearl Coast, don't remember which) Edited February 2, 2017 by Osvir 1
Sedrefilos Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) Hope there are also central european style greenfields and forests islands in Deadfire. Miss that cenery so much... Edited February 2, 2017 by Sedrefilos 6
Sceptenar Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Different climates is certainly a possibility. According to JE Sawyer the Deadfire Archipelago is massive, stretching from the island of Naasitaq near the White that Wends (South Pole) all the way to the equator. Although all the concepts shown thus far have been of tropical regions so they're probably focusing on the areas closer to the equator. 2

Witkh13 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Having a map of "known" Eora would be awesome, agree do I. With all of their fantastic artists, one would think they would have already had one they are building on/off of, so blurring out what they want hidden, and/or is tentative/undecided should be easy, believe do I.
injurai Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 The team has said they won't be producing a full map, so that design decisions don't have to be nailed down early on. That way people can grow the world without contradicting what we know. So the best you can get is a loose image in your head where relevant states and nations might be. But the rest is a fog. 1

Heijoushin Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 *Sigh* Pillars is the type of game where I would really enjoy a super thick manual (like in the good old days) including lore, a map, and detailed descriptions of each class etc. I suppose wikis fill that role these days, but the Pillars wiki isn't actually that detailed at the moment. 4
Sedrefilos Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Devs have intentionally not published a world map of the game. It leaves them room to do whatever they want in the future, they say. I myself would love to see an official detailed world map though
Yenkaz Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) Devs have intentionally not published a world map of the game. It leaves them room to do whatever they want in the future, they say. I myself would love to see an official detailed world map though I still they could - keeping in mind that this is early renaissance days - at least make a map of known continents with the large areas (Aedyr, Old Vailia, the Eastern Reach, Rauatai, Deadfire archipelago, The Living Lands and the White that Wends) placed corresponding to perhaps half a globe and then point out that people haven't circumvented the globe yet so there are large unexplored areas. We know that both the north and south pole are explored, but perhaps there are great seas to the west and east nobody has been able to cross, leaving room for exploration of new territory. I guess the Paradox game part of me just really would like a more complete map of the world to gain a better feeling with the story. As it stands it seems like the 'old empires' control their entire continents, but that might be a simplification too. Edited February 19, 2018 by Yenkaz
Enoch Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 You can sorta see the cloth map mockup on the images that they've put out for the physical editions, like this.
CottonWolf Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Though, of course, in a game about exploration, the world map is potentially a massive spoiler in and of itself. 1
Messier-31 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 You can sorta see the cloth map mockup on the images that they've put out for the physical editions, like this. Just a placeholder, probably. Though, of course, in a game about exploration, the world map is potentially a massive spoiler in and of itself. And yet there is a reward of a detailed Deadfire map in the Ultimate Digital FIG version of the game. It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air...
TheisEjsing Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Sawyer said at one point, that he isn't expanding on the world, and lore too much on purpose. It would just narrow the creativity of future installments in the IP, and since he might not be heading those projects, it seems like the right call to make.

Shouldn't Rauatai be nearer Deadfire, also - possibly to the east, where you have put Deadfire? Edited February 20, 2018 by Fardragon Everyone knows Science Fiction is really cool. You know what PoE really needs? Spaceships! There isn't any game that wouldn't be improved by a space combat minigame. Adding one to PoE would send sales skyrocketing, and ensure the game was remembered for all time!!!!!

Sedrefilos Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I heared there's a map of Deadfire Archipelago in a weird antique store around Monastiraki square here in Athens. No one has ever figured out which one yet. Hm... I'll acquire the quest to find it! Off I go!

Source: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Rauatai Interesting that Rauatai is a nation, NOT a landmass. The wording there could even have the Rauatai gulf as part of the same continental landmass as the Eastern Reach and Ixamitl. This post from Sawyer is the one that puts Deadfire to the south: "- Deadfire Archipelago - Quite a ways south of the Dyrwood, a wide archipelago of small volcanic island nations. Naasitaq, home of many boreal dwarves and aumaua, is the biggest and most stable nation around. Various nations and empires fight over the islands, to the east of which are sea monsters that invariably annihilate any ships that attempt to go exploring (many of them dwarven)." https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64747-issues-with-npcitem-surveys/page-2?do=findComment&comment=1400302 Edited February 20, 2018 by Fardragon Everyone knows Science Fiction is really cool. rjshae Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 It'd be a better fantasy setting if there weren't a world map. Leave it to be explored. 1 "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."
