ManifestedISO Posted July 1, 2015 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Going to be heading to Vegas for the weekend with some friends, if only for the sake I have something remotely exciting to do, but find myself at a loss as to what to do when I get there. Haven't been for a while, but I enjoy the off-strip casinos as much as the wretched-excess monuments. The ones with gold lightbulb marquees and buffets for retired people. Next time I go, I'd like to catch a Supercross race, or bomb Natties with rednecks at the Speedway. No I wouldn't. Yes I would. The dirtbikes anyway. Monster Energy girls carry signs on the track that say "30 Seconds to Go" which somehow seems familiar and shameful at the same time. 1 All Stop. On Screen. I'd rather take that and spoil my wife, the returns are better. My wife and I have talked about checking one out, but she'd rather go see a show. Better returns to take that money and invest it, so that you get returns in the form of a larger sum of money. Why has elegance found so little following? The main casinos in downtown Las Vegas were clustered along a strip bordered by certain roads (Los Vegas Hwy, Russel Rd, Sahara Avenue and Freemont Street, I think); other gambling establishments originally that weren't in the strip were outside the city limit. I've never been to Los Vegas, but if I did I'd probably try to go to all of the places (still existing) that appeared in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER... I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? Those are the main tourist and casino areas, although there are lots of places off on their own, or set a bit back from the main roads. I tend to stick to the strip, being the touristy type, although my wife and I had an adventurous night out with a few locals last trip that started in a slightly scary part of town called the Art District and ended at a video game club on Fremont Street. My 7th-grade teacher made us watch Oklahoma and the one about WWII in the Pacific--what was it called ... Today I was dive-bombed passed by a new Lamborghini--Aventador maybe--at full song in second gear during rush hour. I felt it first, then heard the tumult, only glimpsing the royal-blue streak. It was a glorious experience for exhaust-note enthusiasts like myself, but was seriously unsafe maneuvering. Went once with friends and found it difficult to enjoy the hair-metal soundtrack, 3% beer, and dodgy patrons. Utah actually had one of the largest underground glowstick contingents in the country for a while ... every Saturday a new rave in the desert, the city, someone's condo. Now you Americans might not think its so crazy, but remember we don't really use AC here and the air humidity is fairly high. I'm lucky enough not to live downtown, air here is a bit better quality. City center is downright unbreathable. Worst of it is going to sleep and waking up unrested. I've managed to muster enough willpower to go hit the gym, but performance is bad and the smell is worse — no A/C there either ("it's broken down, maintenance has already been notified..."). - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast. The last couple of days temperatures have been in the high 30 Celsius too (95F), but that has not made me quit lifting every day, and I have no AC. I've simply shifted my exercises times into to night, at 11'o clock temperatures have dropped down to high 20's and thats absolute endurable. I also open certain windows to create an airflow I can stand in and cool off during my exercise breaks. No performance drops whatsoever, on the contrary, currently I'm lifting heavier than ever. The heat does not bother me in the slightest during day time as long as I'm not working out hard, sleep sucks though. Woldan Posted July 4, 2015 Share Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) Don't get your hopes up, I don't know anybody who would be interested in the purchase of an AC, aside from places that are near or on the equator thats kind of an American thing. A friend of mine traveled to the US and was quite puzzled by the sheer amount of AC's everywhere. Once the temperatures rose above ~ 83-85 / 30 they turned his hotel room, shopping malls, shops and other public buildings into goddamn freezers. Heck, having summer temperatures in the mid to high 30 Celsius a couple of weeks is a common thing around here, and nobody gives a damn.
