Not going to vote yet, but if the rest of the game is as good as the four hours I've played so far, then it's a resounding 'Without question'.

Posted

Yes and no.

Reasons I should say no:

1) It was an impulse raise. I literally raised my pledge in the last ten minutes.

2) Even though I did it for FRIENDSHIP!, I should have at least stopped at $250 or at maximum $500.

3) I ****ing wanted an NPC. It was not rational. I just wanted it.

4) I knew Backer NPCs would not be substantial, and they aren't (even though they do act as pretty nifty gameplay/narrative device).

5) The quality of KS games always varies. The bigger, the more potential to fail.

6) Even though I had the extra cash lying around, it was still a lot.

Reasons I should say yes:

1) I did it for FRIENDSHIP!. Now one of my best friends and business partner, who was pretty depressed at the time, is in the game somewhere.

2) The game is ****ing amazing.

3) The response we got visiting Obsidian.

4) All of the physical extras are going to be auctioned off at Desert Bus for Hope.

5) I trusted Obsidian.

6) I had the extra cash lying around.

Ask me again when I'm finished.

But the amount I've pledged was too high anyway.

Personally I would never have paid the price I did for this as a normal game that was released, I've never purchased a game or game set for that price.  But that's ok because I purchased a game and backed it.  That backing is in some ways an investment, making sure the game gets made, encouraging other people to make similar games or other old school style of games, and so forth.  If you look at the time between this kickstarter and today, there have been a lot of good games that have been funded or partially funded with kickstarter; Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, Tides of Numenera, etc.

Extremely worth my pledge! Excited to be done with work today so I can go back and figure out (read: keep dying) the combat system and synergies. Kind of wish my initial party wasn't a sausage fest, though. Four men and not a single female companion yet? I'm going to hire one from the inn at this rate just to not feel so token.

Still only a few hours into it, but without question I'm a happy backer!

...  and it's only just beginning really, 1st expansion is covered by my pledge as well.  :aiee:

I'm a happy backer :)

Didn't pledge as much as for Elite: Dangerous (which I am also very happy with).

So far all the Kickstarter games/projects I have backed have been well worth the money (some are still to be finished).

I try to settle for a pledge around $100-200 which is more or less the same money as for a collectors edition of a traditionally released game.

Sure there might be that game on Kickstarter that will make me disappointed in the future, but that's true for games released traditionally as well, lack of post release support or the pre release hype was just lies and hype!

I still haven't gotten my download pledge yet so I had to say "on the fence"...

I think my pledge page is broken...

You don't have the badge either. Are you sure you linked your pledge to your account?

I have a project. It's a tabletop RPG. It's free. It's a work in progress. Find it here: www.brikoleur.com

Honestly, no. I'm incredibly impressed by almost every aspect of the game- except I've run into so many bugs, from the minor and irritating (like sounds play on endless loop) to the game-breaking (crashes, disappearing items, cutscenes not playing) that I basically gave up. I'll come back to it in a few weeks/months when things are fixed.

Are you playing on a 32-bit system by any chance?

Asking because it's rock stable for me and I've only seen some cosmetic bugs. It's possible it's something about your setup.

Yes and no. Yes because of what I hear in reviews. No because of weird decisions like ditching physical copies and physical goods to be delivered way after release. My digital copy was a gift for a friend so now no idea when I'll be able to play. 120$ was way too much to spend on this tbh with current situation. In my opinion stuff like what we want first digital or physical should be kinda individual choice. Not one common poll for all people.

My thoughts: Well done Obsidian, well done...

This is my second delivered game I pledged for. The first one did get released, but it was not as good as I hoped. It wasn't terrible, just not great. PoE however, is great IMO.

Investet around 600 dollar I think in total, and find it worth every penny! :dancing:

I would agree with you if I didn't open the game, and saw my name completely misspelled. ;(

I'm still stomping around in the opening areas (I'm in Guilded Vale right now), but from what I've seen so far - yes, very much so.
I was worried (as many were) about combat mechanics, but when I got to try them out myself a couple of times, I have to say they are perfectly familiar to me. Everything I do in IE games (aside from starting battles with AoEs to flush out enemies) I do here and it works just as well.

Very well done so far.

Nothing gold can stay.

Well actually I disliked to be forced to go with Imoen and ****loads of quests in Athkatla as well. That does not mean I disliked BG2 as a whole game. I enjoyed it as much as I am enjoying PoE now.

Very well done so far.

You can even do that with certain AoE's. Rolling Fire works well for it, in fact.

Cool. I don't have that yet, but I'll see how it works once I get it.
