Maria Caliban Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 About the combat, the video looks like its an action game but I only have enough twitch to control one toon at a time, ala D3. Is every single action, like in the video where the warrior is hacking away at the dude with the tower shield, is every single swing a button push? Is combat a frantic affair of button pushing and character switching? There is auto-attack. The dodge is a skill with a cooldown. There seems to be an action queue. I'm not sure why the guy playing used it so much as I noticed he rolled even when he wasn't under attack. There will be a tactics menu, which means you can get your characters to do things without your input. A simple one is something like 'if health < 30%, drink a potion.' 'if attacked, dodge and cast freeze on your attacker.' 1 "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.

If you are in the pause and play tactical camera mode all characters will autoattack and direct input will not be required aside from using activated abilities. This is the state right now. The abilities thing could change as party tactics and customization come online.
Gfted1 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Thanks for the input everyone. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
pmp10 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 So is there any benefit to attacking manually? Right now combat sounds like the worst of both worlds.
NOK222 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Thanks for the input everyone. And barely any vitriol at all! Ka-ka-ka-ka-Cocaine!
Nepenthe Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Right now combat sounds like the worst of both worlds. I'm having a bout of pessimism and am pretty much agreeing with you. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Nepenthe Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Ok, watched some of the videos and cautious optimism has returned. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions

'if attacked, dodge and cast freeze on your attacker.' So tactics work the same as in the previous games? What about attack combos, dual striking or chaining abilities, has there been any word on that? I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you.

Nonek Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 If they're needing to clarify the dialogue wheel responses, why not simply revert to having sentences at the bottom of the screen? Was this so broken and upsetting to people, and is having a circle at the bottom of the screen so important? Seems a little illogical to implement all of these extra measures for the sake of having a circle present. 4 Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin. Tea for the teapot!
NOK222 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 One thing I gotta say, eliminate the silly floating spell books for the mages, it's distracting and doesn't make sense. Mages spend years to learn and read these books. They're not gonna float the book in front of them and try to scramble the words mid battle. Communicate this with your superiors Alanchu.
