I watched the first episode of the 3rd season of American Horror Story, it appears to be more outlandish than previous seasons but is shaping up to be just as excellent :)

From the Producer of the Walking Dead -

Mob City (starting Dec 4, 2013 on TNT)

I enjoy Mob series. Good find and the next season of Boardwalk Empire is also showing so we have some nice choices in the genre

Just found out Copper didn't get renewed for a 3rd season. Disappointing because while season 2 started off weak and the dynamic of last season was screwed up due to Corky finding his wife, and his partner being tossed in jail, its halfway through the season now and he kicked his wife out and his partner got reinstated so I was hoping it would pick up again.

Pity about Copper being cancelled.  Thought it was fairly decent.  Hadn't seen the second season and probably won't by it now.

Oh, thanks for reminding me that I wanted to check that show out, Hurl.

...I sorta liked NBC's Blacklist's pilot episode, but haven't watched anymore of it. Mostly, I like James Spader. One of my 80's icons, and he plays a decent "do we trust him" bad guy. Or whatever he is.

Watched Walking Dead premiere episode tonight. Was underwhelmed. I realize they were setting some things up/chr. building but it was a big yawn...chr. building is fine/I like such, but with this series it's often so much retreading of the same convo "woe is me" points they've been repeating forever already. The very very end of the episode bodes for something more interesting next week, tho.

Also

The whole bit with the zombies falling through the roof...if the roof was so rotten, even if it was in a limited area, with the dozens shown idly ambling around up there, one would have accidentally fallen through already. Way too convenient for it to only happen when the human group was in the building. :p

The Blacklist.

They certainly seem to be scattering hooks around for mysteries and wotnot. Spader's keeping a nice spin going for that criminal mastermind aspect. I think it'll be interesting to see how they develop this, and just how long they keep putting in small further engimas before they start expanding on them or providing a few answers. Even if the answers lead to other questions...

Sleepy Hollow. I enjoyed it; it wasn't the strongest of the episodes though. Really felt they should have not resolved the Roanoake stuff so quickly.

Pirates!!!

Black Sails on Starz produced by Michael Bay

1715. The Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean is at its apex. The former British colony of New Providence Island is now lawless territory, controlled by the most notorious pirate captains in history. The most feared among them is CAPTAIN FLINT.

But as the British Navy returns to these waters, threatening to exterminate Flint and his crew, another side of him emerges. Driven by deep, complicated, even romantic motives, Flint allies himself with the formidable ELEANOR GUTHRIE, daughter of the local smuggling kingpin who turns the pirates’ loot into profits. Together, they forge a plan to hunt the ultimate prize, and by winning it, stave off reclamation of their home to ensure their survival.

Arrayed against them are a series of opponents: rival captains, jealous of Flint's power; Eleanor's father, whose ambitions for the island conflict with his daughter’s; and a young sailor, JOHN SILVER, recently recruited onto Flint's crew, who will somehow manage to constantly undermine his captain’s agenda.

Coming in January 2014

Yeah, pretty much entirely set up.

They do rather have a habit of giving red shirts a couple of lines and then the inevitable happens, and if I had money I would have bet on the two red shirt deaths straight out. It's not like D'Angelo is going to die in the first episode but disposable young guy with glasses and disposable wish it actually was Justin Bieber were pretty obvious. And rather too obvious on the this-is-too-good-to-last type stuff, we didn't need absolutely everyone nicely paired up so much so I for a second I thought Herschel and Rick were going to be an item too. Meh, writing on TWD has always been wildly variable sometimes even within the same episode. Then they have a beautifully executed set piece that makes up for it.

OTOH I wasn't too worried about the zombie rain, it's silly and unrealistic but that describes the whole premise- I'd expect zombies to have fallen to pieces or got entirely dessicated by that time in reality. Just have to suspend disbelief

Agents of SHIELD. I enjoyed it, still not sure if Coulson is a LMD or a clone.

Yeah I thought AoS was good too, possibly the best episode so far since the first.

Well if he was an LMD the old backscatter / x-ray vision would have meant she saw a hellava lot more. That, and the way Fitz & Simmon's talked about the tech in that eye being a decade in advance of what Shield has.. suggests that it's not going to be a traditional LMD if it were an LMD...

AHS: Coven

I don't know what to think. On one hand I really like the Supreme but on the other Im starting to get put off by how badly the student witches seem to be written.

Maybe I just don't understand kids these days. But how a fresh faced teen who just days prior first learned that shes a witch can now make the jump to creating a Frankenstein monster, while selling her soul to the devil, for a boy she knew for 10 minutes, is really stretching my suspension of disbelief.

Person of Interest - They seem to be upping the sex appeal with Sarah Shahi's angry operative. And I still think when you get down to it, it's really a superhero show more then a spy-type one. Treat the computer as an omniscient hero type, surveillance as a super-power,  and the main characters as his good-guy minions... :shifty:

Oh, and for Breaking Bad fans, apparently the "Better Call Saul" spin-off is looking like its getting the go-ahead...

Vince Gilligan has revealed that, like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul will be set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Why not shoot Saul in the same way? Let’s get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let’s do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating.’

Ah-hah!

Robert Llewellyn has confirmed there's going to be a new Red Dwarf season.

We are officially making another series.

It will be sometime in 2014 but I can't be any more accurate than that because we simply don't know yet.

As far as the main cast are concerned, Chris, Danny, Craig and myself are all very committed to making another series, Doug Naylor is working on it like a man posessed but beyond that it's in the lap of the GELFS.
