Nice job on the hair colour. The jaw and chin are a bit too big IMHO. Or perhaps the cheeks are too straight.

The angle is gently bottom-up, the jaw-line is going to look more pronounced as a result.

Man I keep coming back to this thread to find something i DON'T like about this piece of art. So far....no success.

Do not criticize a fish for being a turtle when it is, in fact, a fish.

It still seems off to me. The head just looks too big/heavy, compared to the body. I'm assuming it's the jaw's and cheeks' problem, at least from her left side.

I agree that the proportions are a bit off, the body should probably be bigger in relation to the head or vice versa.

But Staples has done a stunning job regardless. :)

Very cool indeed. I'm more fond of the reddish tinted hair - it seems to fit with the fire-priest thing.

I, too, get a Brienne vibe from her - which is a good thing, IMO.

I'd have to second kenup's assessment. The jaw and chin are slightly pronounced. Looks far more masculine than feminine. Face of a valkyrie, some bottles of testosterone later.

I like your fan art a lot better than the concept sketch tbh, I wasn't really feeling her character at first, but I think your picture really helps me to imagine the characters personality. Good job dude.

Compared to the concept art, this picture is a lot more "b**tch you don't wanna mess with"! Honestly, I prefer Cadegund looking a bit more feminine, but I guess we all interpret this stuff differently. Regardless, Staples' rendition is a sight to behold.

au contraire, I think the original picture is much more masculine, and sort of tougher/more matronly looking. this one to me makes her look younger and more confident/brave as opposed to butch. but yeah as you said, different interpretations

Thank you all for the critique and comments. Mr Sawyer even thinks its cool; that made my day.

If I'm honest, I haven't drawn many females and I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I wanted her to be tough but not totally masculine, but hey, this will help me in the long run.

I found the original Cadegund more aesthatically pleasing, I think it's the face/ jaw here that makes her look masculine. But this here endows her with some personality, unlike the original pretty-girl-with-gun sketch.

She honestly looks more human than a lot of the other fan art sketches I've seen out there. "Fantasy chicks" that look like barbie dolls.... I never understood how that worked out.

The Sagani concept sketch was the same way too. Very human, "flaws" and all.

Considering even the official Sagani art--the first IWD-style pic (moar plz), group dungeon action shot, the Polina concept--are all different, I think we can cut some slack between this fan art and the two official existing Cadegund pieces. :p

Well, let's all cherish this moment, and this thread, because those of us who've been on the internet in the last 15 years already know of the horrors yet to come.

Like the art, don't like the woman.

Hey thanks Prestidigitator! You are indeed correct, but mostly painter. I take it you draw too?

Just saw this thread. Sorry for the necromancy, but just thought this post was funny....
