Thats tough Nep indeed. Heh, my iniitial university dissertation I'd planned out and done all sorts of research and prepared for it the year before I had to start it.. and I went to speak to my university advisor..and they said "that would be really interesting. no. Do something else.".

Admittedly, they gave some good reasons for it over the difficulty in gaining data on certain things but still.. having to totally start from scratch on a totally seperate concept was a bit of a bitch. And then I had to drop out to look after my mother about 6 months later anyhow.

 

Still, on the upside, she got discharged from hospital late this afternoon/evening.

I speed-read this, so at first it looked like your advisor got discharged yesterday after telling you to do something else...

If you work for international organisations, be they BINGOs, the UN system or whatever, after your first job the work experience will be all that counts.

People will glance at your CV and skim through your cover letter. Neither of those is likely to mention grades. For them to look at your grades means that the whole package of who you are already has them interested. All grades show is that yes, you meet the qualification requirements. They probably will never be taken into account (after the first job) in any situation other than a tie breaker. And in those situations, as I understand it, people do not look for something to help them decide who to choose, but they look for something to give them an excuse to pick the one they lean towards.

Caught up on odds and ends. Made that dentist checkup for myself and my mother. Looked at my sister's laptop to update a bunch of drivers and figure out why her dvd player has stopped playing dvds but still handles cd's normally. Gave the dogs some run around. Poked at some christmas gifts for family, pondered on when to start getting the decorations down and what needs to be sorted for that.. Spent about half an hour on TOR helping someone out, and contemplated returning to Hitman at some point in the near future to restart a level after a few days break....

What shoes, Tale?

I had this pair of Asics, once, years ago. Best, most comfy shoes ever...I have mildly flat feet and those shoes kept all arch-fatigue and much ankle fatigue away for as long as I owned them. I wore them to tatters. I still haven't found anything like them...not even from the same company. :/

Something pretty cheap. $26, I don't remember the brand. The problem I was having is I've been buying shoes a size too small for a long time.

Entirely anecdotal, I know, but as somebody who has interviewed highly paid professionals from several continents, I think the only bit paid attention to was, so hey, you have a degree, nice. Nobody looked at the scores and paid more attention to the last 10 years of experience. The hard part is for people fresh out of the "system" is sometimes to get down and dirty, doing stuff that is underpaid and being overqualified for to get the all important experience and references, which count for way, way more.

Yeah, I really shouldn't have that problem, I have a pretty good work history built up on the side and the place where I've been for about a year now has taught me a lot and is very well regarded. Anyway, it's not over, so we'll see what happens. I'm hoping to argue the grade from "meh, average" to "pretty good", ie. one step up on the 7 step scale.

I did respond, but only to explain that I think he thought one of my messages pertained to him but it really didn't and that the last time I checked the board did allow people to be blocked. I also tried to say that, since it was a misunderstanding that he would not be angry but that on the other hand I simply wouldn't stop posting. I didn't do it to piss him off, but I also don't think he read it.

I won't name names and it doesn't matter. He's either an alt or someone new. If he's new, then I don't want to discourage him. If he's an alt, I don't care... unless he's Eldar, in which case I'm confused.

 

Cantousent is certainly no one special compared to most of the other regulars here. Eldar was a **** who would get pissed off and rampage from time to time. They are not the same person.
