Human supremacy in Eternity world

Recommended Posts

Personally, I'm a bit bored with fantasy worlds where humans are dominant and are a "jack-of-all-trades" race. I say nay to this!

I want a world where humans are a minority or at least equal to other races. Also, humans should specialize, not be good in everything.

No humans.

Humans went extinct LONG ago. All the current races are various descendant mixes with weird talents.

The KS Collector's Edition does not include the Collector's Book.

Which game hook brought you to Project Eternity and interests you the most?

PE will not have co-op/multiplayer, console, or tablet support (sources): [0] [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Write your own romance mods because there won't be any in PE.

"But what is an evil? Is it like water or like a hedgehog or night or lumpy?" -(Digger)

"Most o' you wanderers are but a quarter moon away from lunacy at the best o' times." -Alvanhendar (Baldur's Gate 1)

I'm with you bother/sister/other down with humans!

Humanity having dying off along time ago would be something really uiqne for PE.

If the dev won't use it then I'll just steal it for some homebrew I'll never finish!

Be warned I'm dyslectic so there may be some typos and what-not in my posts.

I really like the idea that humans are the ones in decline, or even extinct, maybe they dabled a bit too much into magic that was not meant for them and some deity took great offense in it, and as a result it corrupted their souls, and now all that's left are ancient ruins and terrible beings crawling around in the depths of the earth. Yeah, I don't know, just making stuff up as I go.

And it would be nice to see humans in a brighter light other than the usual; "humans are everywhere and supress all other races" we've been seeing in a lot of RPG's. Maybe they should be the ancient race of powerful heroes who took it upon themselves to protect the younger races from the evils of the world.

Anyway, I would really like to see the humans being the underdog in this game, it would make for a welcoming change.

Humans should not dominate the whole world, but there should be areas of hightened human activity where they are extremely powerful. Same goes for dwarves, elves or whatever other races that are going to be in the game. There could also of course be areas in the world where humans are enslaved by... uh... evil dwarfs or something. ^^

It should only have humans, but since it's obviously not on the menu (unless by new player races they mean something like Caucasian etc., which would get pretty hilarious pretty fast) I'll settle with despotic human tyranny over all the lesser races.

Why yes, I have complexes from reading Tolkien at a tender age.

Say no to popamole!

humans are a popular choice for a playable race because it allows players to easily identify with them so getting rid of humans entirely would be hard

however one could turn the usual human supremacy on its head and make them a minor subjugated species struggling against a seemingly almighty oppressor - this could be the aforementioned ilithid slavedrivers, or a favorite of mine, a race of evil sadisic overlords like the drow

Humans could be like colonists, taking over lands from indigenous peoples. You know, like the 15th century Earth, only with orks and trolls instead of Native Americans. :)

EDIT: Take that up a notch. Native humans are friends with local orks and trolls. And then some other colonist humans come, probably with an ally race or two of their own.

you know, i really liked that aspect in mass effect 1

the whole, "humens are new to it and are kind of an underdog race yet"

this combined with shepard being a veteran from the very beginning made for a nice setup - something different for once

Yeah, but pretty soon it turns out that humans are the last best hope for the universe, and all those alien basterds were wrong to hold us back. Yay humans... again.

That's kind of the reason why I really liked the Underdark part of the BG2 campaign.

That's a whole other boring trope, though, at least to me. :(

"Let's make the opposite of a light patriarchical human society that's the epitome of all that's right with the world and make a dark matriarchical elf society that's the epitome of all that's evil with the world!"

There are twists, but an exact mirror image isn't necessarily all that unique either...

The elf/human relationship in DA:O was at least more nuanced than that.

I am a bit tired of other side of "human supremacy" - "the magic of the world is at end, there come new times, [insert races] sail to [insert place]", ecetera, ecetera. I would like world where myth is still in it's strong, where humans have a culture of seeing everything from perspective of religion, or culture, or mystery. You know, to see with eyes of how ancient people saw their world - maybe even being a bit afraid of stuff which seemd mythical and unexplainable to them, seeking protection from it by creating tales and worshiping gods.
