Amentep Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 ^Doubt Bethesda would sell, there's no long term incentive for it. I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
Humanoid Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Unless TES Online completely subsumes Bethesda, in the manner in which WoW did to Blizzard. Which is to say, it's not happening. And even then, they might just buy a studio to churn out Fallout titles, like an Arkane. Some people might like the idea of Zenimax acquiring Obsidian and having them be a specialist Fallout studio, but that sounds like a terrible fate to me. To be honest though, I'd not be too unhappy to say goodbye to Fallout forever. The genre is broad enough so that titles without the licence aren't lacking for selling points. NO! Let Fallout rot in hell Behtesda's incompetent hands for all i care. The first two are among my favorite games, but that is too much. Just have Tim Cain make a new Sci-Fi isometric turn based RPG in the same style as Fallout/Arcanum and we are set.
Undecaf Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 (edited) Just have Tim Cain make a new Sci-Fi isometric turn based RPG in the same style as Fallout/Arcanum and we are set. I'd certainly want to see that happen. Though I wouldn't mind an Obsidian TES spinoff either. That series, at least right now, is a grey ocean of neglected potential. HoonDing Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Bethseda should let Arkane do a TES spinoff, that studio has proven they have world design down to a tee, while the least said about NV in this regard the better. As for Failout spinoffs, I'd rather see them let Shinji Mikami take a shot at it. The Japanese take on post apocalyptica is varied and broad (ideally something ranging between Jin-Roh, Ergo Proxy and Blue Gender). The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Haribol22 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Well. We all know that games based directly on movies suck. Seeing the interest of the big money in backing the Prometheus franchise I consider it very likely we will see a game based on that IP not too soon. I think we can rule out action FPS or strategy game.Personally, I would love to see a new FPRPG/Adventure game with stealth and horror elements, combining aspects of Thief, Penumbra, Deus Ex and especially System Shock. That would be a perfect prototype for a Prometheus game. I think FP is absolutely neccesary for the "horror" aspect.Obsidian's cancelled Alien RPG might speak in their favour here - although if I recall correctly that was more inspired by "Aliens" :/ 1
