I think it's kind of cool, I mean as long as there is no profit involved and sort of an activist agenda going on. Hopless romantic when it comes to antiestablishmentarianism, what can I say.

You need a little chaos in the system, not because it's good in and of itself, but because you would definately miss it if it wasn't there.

Eh, where there's a valid point to it, or a purpose that would be one thing. Even if I disagree with someone about their choices, if they honestly believe them there can be some sort of respect. But when it turns out to be some teens or twentysomethings doing it just "cuz" it's the thing to do... I don't really see the romanticism behind those beliefs.

"I did it because they're 'The MAN!' No other reason, I don't actually have anything against them or a viewpoint about it.. but They Are the Establishment! So I can screw with them and it's a good thing! Because it shows I have MAD SKILLZ!"

If there had been something like "governmant law being passed which makes them more big brotherish and so I'm going to show them how independent we are by screwing with them" .. That would have been more understandable. But with a lot of these most recent hacks.... They just seem very fuzzy beyond "Woo, Look at me! Under this Pseudonym! Causing Trouble!"

You loose any "activist" connection when you say "Oh, we're sitting on 200k players data from Brink, but we won't release it because we like the devs".

Also they apparently just threw a guy under the "partyvan" last night.

Apparently the kid was charged with Bot related crimes.

And it looks like Lulzsec is gonna go ballistic with their copy cats on friday.

Hacker group the A-Team publishes list of alleged LulzSec members.

An Internet hacker group calling itself the A-Team has published a document it claims reveals the identities of at least some members of the recently retired hacker network LulzSec, including phone numbers, addresses, Facebook URLs and even the identities of some of their relatives and associates.

The A-Team exposed the names of seven individuals, the first name of two others, information on a 10th and implied that there was another member of LulzSec who they were unable to find out about.

The A-Team, which said it has been following some members of LulzSec since a large online attack on the media network Gawker in December, said the group claimed to only be causing havoc for entertainment because they would only expose random information they could find.

"We think that with these kid's exposed as long as other people stop passing lulzsec hacks that it will eventually die off," the group said in a document published Saturday on PasteBin.

The document traced some of the claimed LulzSec's members back to parts of the United States, Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden.

The A-Team said LulzSec's members were a product of the hacking culture found on the Website 4chan, which is rooted in anonymity, making some feel invincible.

"The Internet by definition is not anonymous," the group said. "Computers have to have attribution. If you trace something back far enough you can find its origins."

The group's exposition of LulzSec members matches closely what has been published in two other PasteBin documents, including a chat log, the work of another group going after LulzSec, and the Twitter accounts of some members who have connected their anonymous Internet handles to LulzSec.

LulzSec, which said it disbanded Saturday after a 50-day run, did not respond through its Twitter account, despite a history of addressing claims similar to these. LulzSec has taken responsibility for attacks on the CIA, the FBI, the U.S. Senate, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a British police agency, Sony, Fox, PBS, Nintendo, various porn websites and multiple video game servers and websites since early May.

The A-Team described instructions for how to view the evidence of their work and said law enforcement agencies that wanted the "raw logs" could contact the group via email.

Muahahahaha....

I don't see how it's appropriate for the 'A-Team' to publish names of relatives of Lulzsec hackers. Lord knows, you can't choose your relatives...

I think the aim is to make egomaniacal dilettantes think twice the next time.

The other interesting thing is.. the mother of that arrested one..is now trying to get him diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome..

Gee, wasn't that used the last time the Americans wanted to extradite a hacker? :sorcerer:

Um, do you even understand what autism is?

There's every chance this guy well and truly does have an ASD. And certainly the IT industry in general has a disproportionately large number of people with ASD (especially Asperger's). It also has lots of people with ADHD curiously, but that's not relevant here.

It's not like Aspergers makes you incompetent for trial or anything. It's really just a minor form of autism that means you have trouble relating to those around you.

Yes, I know what it is. I've had a few people suggest I've got minor cases of it.

And yes, I'm sure it's quite possible the kid potentially has it.

But it just amuses me that the mother didn't care about this until he was arrested and then it was "oh quick, check my poor boy out for this..."

There's also 'every chance' that this is a cynical attempt to dodge responsibilty by claiming that 'aspergers' is in fact 'just feckless arrogant t***' syndrome.

*checks his small laundry list of diagnoses* lets see... AH! Here it is under "Bipolar"! They did indeed suggest that I was Aspergers during one of my "don't kill yourself" counseling sessions.

Made for great fun when my mom knew that because all of a sudden everything changed to help that out. Kinda frustrating really.

As to the kid? Eh, mom's are like that.

I like asparagus too. The stuff in olive oil is just brilliant.

Personally, I think non-extradition of citizens is a good concept, most people should be tried at their country of residence. (Barring war criminals)
