I guess that's also an American thing...? :ermm:

America is named after Amerigo Vespucci, so it might be more of an Italian thing.

wasn't Amerigo Vespucci actually a portuguese?

He was an Italian working for the Portuguese.

While we are on the subject I don't much care for Cuba Gooding Jr.'s name.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Crytek makes shooters, gorgeous looking shooters. There's a way bigger market for those than there are for story based roleplaying games. BioWare started small, sure. Then they "got lucky" and got to use Interplay's licence for AD&D and with Black Isle pretty much resurrected crpgs. Without Interplay and their licence, who knows what BioWare would be today.

QFT.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

I found the story in Crysis 2 more compelling than in DSIII.

But hey, so far for RPGs having automatically betters stories than other genres....

I know a woman named India.

On-topic, I'm still playing Icewind Dale. Plowing through the lower levels of the Severed Hand. I keep triggering the "Shadowed enemies pop up out of nowhere" ambushes with a hidden Thief, which, depending on where my other 4 are standing, sometimes puts my party in an even worse position vis-a-vis the coming encounter than if the whole group had walked right into ambush zone.

That's why I hate people named Chad!

Enlighten me on what's "wrong" with Chad, please? :) I have no clue, it's always seemed a perfectly pleasant name.

Sunshine tho...definitely "hippy." hehe

Someone somewhere is naming their child Twitter as we speak, I bet.

....and I'm playing - some music. Gaming is for later.

Dislike of people named after countries. Hence, Chad. :shifty:

Ah. :) Yeah, it's been a long long long time since I paid attention to/knew the world globe/maps.

But I think Chad the human name has other origins tho...

* sigh *

After conquering my CoH addiction it's back, the new patch lured me. In five minutes I started free-basing on Panthers and injecting Pershings with dirty needles. Baby, it's so good, enveloping me in a warm soft blanket of WW2 savagery, half-tracks and artillery.

DSIII, while technically competent and very polished, feels lacklustre and very limited in scope. It's like they had either a too small team or not enough time to develop, or both.

It's just not a very ambitious game.

For a hack n' slash it certainly is ambitious (and controversial). Also again I hate to bring this up again but in which way is Alpha Protocol better? If you take the C&C away its even less ambitious than DSIII.

I mean I love Alpha Protocol. Its my favourite Obsidian Game actually. And I defend it like hell at any oppurtiunity. But there seems to be a hell of a lot bias going on here.

Seconded. I love Alpha Protocol. It's also my favorite Obsidian Game.

Controversial? Don't make me laugh. I've yet to see a single game that is "controversial". Unless your idea of controversial is different than mine.

About Alpha Protocol. Did Sega patched the online activation out already or not? They promised, that they will do it at one time in the future, and I am still waiting for this to finally purchase the game.

Yes, there is a patch that removes DRM. Just be careful do download the right one (US vs. EU).

YAY... Omw to my closest shop

Thanks for the info!

You can get it for 13? currently on Steam.

That's Friggen Hilarious...you know the difference between DRM and Steam? DRM is less intrusive!!!!! (well sometimes, if it's activation only, and not the constantly online version).

You haven't? And here I thought Mortal Kombat with it's entire creation of the game ratings system had controversy, or the Columbine killings blamed on Doom was controversy, or Hot Coffee was controversy...silly me...I obviously don't know what controversy is.

On the other topic, DS3 is good, but Alpha Protocol is better as far as gameplay goes. I'd say AP was FAR more ambitious overall, and gamer heavy than DS3. DS3 was more polished, but AP wins out for me any day of the week.

Lol, Hot Coffee and controversial. Maybe in conservative America.

Controversial is a particular americanism used to refer to things that are so commonplace in Europe we don't even have a term for them. :sorcerer:

Firing up another run of KOTOR 2. I downloaded the mod tools and save-editor so I can fiddle with my hero in order to produce unique play through, but I haven't found anything interesting to fiddle with yet.

But yeah, some people are stubborn. Especially since AP is on sale today @Steam.

I'm thinking of playing KOTOR2. I can run it on Win7 w/out any "fixes" last I tried, hopefully it still will. Question is, I'm interested in trying that 1.7 restoration mod thing....will that work on Win7? Or should I install it all on my XP PC.

I'd prefer playing on the Win7 PC, but...

Your "requirements" are playing the game. What makes it different from playing a Steam version vs. retail version? Same product. Only that the former is a lot cheaper. Hence, the customer pays for the cheaper offering. That's how a market really works.

My requirements are no DRM... If a company does not offer this, I will not play their games, that's simple, there is enough competition on the market, which still offers this option... Games are not essential to my life. If I will not play for example New Vegas, because of it's Steamworks DRM, I do not die, I do not end up ill or whatever else, I just play another game, which will bring to me same enjoyment... My money might be infinite for this kind of pleasure, but my time is not... If something offers me more convenience for the same price, why should I bother to invest in less convenience?

As far as I know, if you can run the game, the modded game shouldn't behave any differently.
