Looked generic, told me nothing, didn't feel very fresh for some reason.

I just want to see some conversations.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

the plot, characters, conflicts

That's exactly the kind of info I DON'T want to know before playing the game. But not everyone minds spoilers as much as I do, I guess...

I hear what you're saying, but I think it should be possible to include some bits in a trailer that show non-combat stuff and yet still manage to avoid being spoilery.

Still, I have to wonder, are gamers different from non-gamers in the way they seem so attracted to violence? Or is that just SOP for being human?

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

Looked exactly like FO3 to me, if there's one thing that Obsidian doesn't do, it's improve the animations o:)

Facial animations in AP were great!

It also can't be worse than Bethesda.

Don't agree, sorry.

We've seen a retrofuturistic Vegas, there is the classical Fallout atmosphere (or Fallout 3 atmosphere, for those that consider it a departure in art style.. I don't), you can quickly see a bunch of new monsters, the two warring factions and the casino minigames, there's quite the contrast between the Vegas city (almost untouched by the war and the decay) and the rest of the settlements we see... it looks anything but generic.

I agree that it's far from the best trailer they could put out but generic it is not.

Precisely - you can give an audience an idea of a game's premise and what's at stake without "spoilers." Movie trailers do it all the time. It's not asking too much that game trailers do the same.

A dull boy.

Nice music in that recent trailer.

Anyone happen to know the artist/song?

Like I said, it was in the GNR mod for Fallout 3. But it was a 100 song archive and I have no idea which one was this song...

Look it up in the Nexus, if you like.

...Scratch that, all of that. I opened up the page to provide a link, and it hit me in the face:

"Jingle, Jangle, Jingle" by Kay Kyser and His Orchestra

This must be it... ;)

Aaanyway, the mod...

"Save often!" -The Inquisitor

"Floss regularly!" -also The Inquisitor

It looks like we to to blow up another settlement or something. Repercussions, this time?

Also, it sounds like the gunshot sound effects are on steroids now. Every gun sounds like some kind of giant cannon.

I think New Vegas is doing a good job with this. Limited ammo matters a lot in that game because ammo is (in general) kind of scarce, ammo types are strongly differentiated, and so saving and being smart about how you "spend" your ammo is something you have to do.

EDIT : I feel like I've pulled a funcroc

I fired a .44 magnum for the first time a couple months ago. It DOES sound like some kind of giant cannon.

22 October? I was honestly expecting a further date, considering all the problems with Alpha Protocol, Obsidian and Bethesda problems with bugs etc...

Whatever, release date (assuming I'll have the money for the CE) buy for me.

Oh and they better release PC collector's edition in Finland for a reasonable price or someone from Obsidian will have to send me one. Saw 1 store selling PS3 CE for 110 euros. Rip-off much?

I take it obsid is done with the main development phase and is now adding layer upon layers of polish.... right?

No obsid, no more ambitious ideas! Save em for DLC or better yet: expansion pack(s). Tune up what you've already done so far. :)

Like.. Bethesda level of polish? So flying protectrons, radscopions spawning under terrain, crashes and stuttering will make a triumphant comeback?

They'll need all the time they can spare, to fix both companies' mess.

If the game is really as buggy as the combination suggests, I'm curious about how the reviewers will receive it.

In a lot of "professional" reviews there was no mention whatsoever on the technical mess that was Fallout 3 (granted, open world on console is difficult... but some things had nothing to do with that).

Will they love it or will their perception be influenced by Obsidian's track record?

Of course, my hope is that the game is the most bugfree the two companies have published. :sorcerer:

Given the choice between zero bugs and zero interesting content I'll take the interesting content. KTHANX?!

As I've said before I think it's childish to expect multiple degrees of freedom in our games and not expect emergent behaviour - eg bugs. Otherwise how come they always come up in superlative RPGs and not bloody run'n'guns? What's the alternative explanation? That companies which make RPGs are staffed entirely by morons?
