Yep, Dragon Age's trailers were pretty crap.

Wait, wait, I know the inevitable answer someone will give you to this, so at least I'll anticipate him/her/it :

doesn't that mean that trailers are indicative of a game's quality? :ermm::sorcerer:

So I guess instead of good/evil or douchebag/nice guy we'll get human/machine this time?

It would certainly be more interesting imho, though I hope they just go the Deus Ex route, and don't place meters or things like that.

Thought: you have to choose between "trans human" skills and human skills?

It would only be interesting if the two approaches were actually different in gameplay, like having to use stealth/silenced weapons if you choose to be a squishy human and marching in with your tentacle hand if you're a huge cyborg. Too bad it will probably be like Bioshock where there's pretty much no gameplay difference with either of the choices, everything must be all nice and 100% balanced.

whoa whoa whoa.... slow down a minute....

no skills?

i can only assume they are going to do it like bioshock, where you still have some customization over your build despite not having "skills" like typical rpg types....

still... thats a major check in the negative column for me

So, does it or does it not look Deus Ex enough?

Deus Ex's art direction wasn't exactly one of it's strong suits, possibly because of the Unreal Engine, but still. It looks like a cyberpunk game with crazy baroque influences, so at least it has a distinct style.

I'm actually interested in it. It might be the same experience as with Fallout 3 for me.

I think Chinatown alone proves it had pretty poor art direction.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

better over the top than 'meh'. The Icarus thing seems a little too obvious for a persistent allegory, but art direction wise oddball is usually how you create something unique and captivating. Think of the steam punk theme of Thief.

Just saw the trailer for the first time, and like quite often before I swim against the current in here: I liked it! When I heard that Alex Brandon isn't making the score I was little worried about that, but even the music seem to be in good hands.

The trailer/teaser is awesome, don't think anyone has said anything bad about it?

The problem is that it's in no way connected to the actual game, so even if the trailer is awesome, it tells us nada about the game. That's what most naysayers are complaining about, At least in this thread.

It's not really being a naysayer though. It's just pointing out the obvious. And personally recalling the praise that Invisible War's non in-game trailer received and seeing how that turned out.

Sure, it's a slick-looking advert to get the name out and raise awareness. And that's great. Seriously.

But that's all it is and all it can be taken for.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

While it's not directly representative of the gameplay, it does give quite a bit of background information, story and some hints on the various weapons and augs.

Must admit, the team seems to really say all the right things.. I really hope they can deliver, because their philosphy is pretty solid. :sorcerer:

And I like how they make the gameplay sound... reminds me of .. well, Deus Ex. :)

Sounds somewhat promising, even if it's mostly talk at this point :*
