Hurlshort Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I try not to compare video game worlds to real worlds.
Enoch Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 On a gameplay level Fallout 3's size was fine, but if you actually try to think of the map as being an actual place it comes off too small. Especially since there seems to be 5 vaults within 15 miles of one another Why wouldn't the Vaults be clustered around a major metropolitan area? The people with spots reserved would have to be able to get there from their homes/businesses on pretty short notice.

Well if you consider that there are like 130 spread across the entire USA it seems silly that a town like DC would pull so many into such a small area
Nepenthe Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Well if you consider that there are like 130 spread across the entire USA it seems silly that a town like DC would pull so many into such a small area It seems like the opposite of silly to me. The last time I looked, it was still the capital. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions

cb.spike Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 It would be cool to have some high buildings.
Slowtrain Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 How come it isn't all vomit green and mud brown? Those are FO3's staple colors. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
Oner Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 'Cause this is New Vegas! It's red and grey here, fool! Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.
Purkake Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 How come it isn't all vomit green and mud brown? Those are FO3's staple colors. I guess they changed them to grayish brown and redish brown for this one. So is Vegas destroyed or not? This looks kind of contradictory to the CG trailer.

Purkake Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Good point, but this isn't about minor features, this would be like making Morrigan a dude.

Purkake Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I heard the Obsidian hit squad was having some problems with delays so it might actually take a bit longer...

Ausir Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Info from PC Gamer US: # The box on the first page of the preview names Bethesda as both the publisher and the developer, while the article text itself gives due credit to Obsidian and discusses the devs' work on Fallout, Fallout 2 and Van Buren. # New California Rangers wear modified LAPD riot armor. The trenchcoat guy from the teaser is identified as one in the article. # Gun modifications will increase damage, ammo capacity, accuracy, rate of fire and more # The player will be able to have two or three companions in their party # With Raul the ghoul in your party, you'll start to pick up clues that he's more than just a simple mechanic # Unsurprisingly, deathclaws and radscorpions are mentioned # From the screenshot, Fore! indeed looks like an attack on the head, not groin, as mentioned in an earlier preview # The dinosaur casino is identified as Dinky the Dinosaur # NCR is described as large and powerful but bureaucratic. # Chris Avellone: "It's a very amusing location design-wise. Vegas is like a whole city-wide amusement park. We can play on different themes, different styles. It's fun for the artists, it's fun for the designers... I don't know how much fun it's going to be for the programmers" # J.E. Sawyer: "The Karma system is mostly the same as in Fallout 3, but checked less often. Mostly we rely on reputation, because that's what people know. Karma is just a general indicator of how much of a sonofabitch you are. If you murder people in secret, your reputation doesn't go down because no on knows you did anything, so you can maintain a good reputation but your karma has tanked really heavily. Karma does influence some things, but reputation is usually what most people in the world base their opinions of you on." # Avellone: "We recognized that one of the strengths of Fallout 3 was that so much of the game revolved everything around Washington, D.C. That's your signature city. And to be honest, adventuring in post-apocalyptic D.C. is interesting. You're like, OK, I get it. I know what D.C. is like in the real world, I'd like to see what it's like in the real world when mutants are running around in the streets. RPGmasterBoo Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 The player will be able to have two or three companions in their party win Imperium Thought for the Day: Even a man who has nothing can still offer his life
Pop Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 It's also worth noting that Feargus mentions offhand that Obsidz and Bethsoft had been in talks to work together for several years, even before it was decided a Fallout title would be their collaborative effort. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
Sannom Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 It's also worth noting that Feargus mentions offhand that Obsidz and Bethsoft had been in talks to work together for several years, even before it was decided a Fallout title would be their collaborative effort. Yeah, I noted that too. Could it mean that they work on another project together, one that Obsidian proposed them in the first place?
Mikhailian Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 The player will be able to have two or three companions in their party win I'm assuming that the charisma check for max companions has been reinstated... But for all of us, there will come a point where it does matter, and it's gonna be like having a miniature suit-head shoving sticks up your butt all the time. - Tigranes
mkreku Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I hope they're not forcing any companions upon us. I much prefer to wander the wastelands alone. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
