jaguars4ever Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 How does one know the Normandy is fully upgraded? I had a few Upgrade dialogues with Garrus & Miranda in the beginning of the game, but not anymore. Is 3 or 4 upgrades all it takes? Stop being a pansy, viru. Just head over to the suicide mission already. You'll know soon enough.

Sometimes it's one that just helps that character, other times its relevant to the ship. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."

Deraldin Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Holy Crap! This is why you must upgrade people! I wonder what happens if you take Tali and Legion with you to the cargo hold. I seen both of them go down in the engine room, but I don't have a save without the upgrades to check it out. I'm guessing you can't save Jack like that since her death is before the cargo hold part. Probably the same with Thane since you've returned by then.

If you play it several times, it shouldn't be the same person being killed at the same point.. It's not a direct "if you haven't upgraded this, this specific person will die". Jaesun Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Just finished 2nd play through. WHY does Bioware hate Mordin so much? (He died at the end, after the Boss). Damn Salarian haters. I'm going to try a different final party, and put Mordin in it, that way he CANT die. Some of my Youtube Classic Roland MT-32 Video Game Music videos | My Music | My Photography
Morgoth Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I finished ME2 only once (Shep survived), but watched the different endings on youtube. It's just too much a hassle to replay that grind fest to see a different conclusion/sex scene. Rain makes everything better.
Calax Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I just finished it... the term anti-climax is applicable. Like the others said it suffered mainly from having a short primary story and thus you spent most of your time either grinding for resources or friendship missions. My completion had only on person bite it (Jacobs) but then I hated him. Honestly there wasn't much of a villian to exist other than the piecemeal villians that you met for each friendship mission. I think the game would have done better if the friendship missions ALSO tied into the main story, like you get a series of friendship missions on Tuchaka and you have to go there to deal with a Collector/reaper incursion. I think I loaded an odd save because it was like partially paragon/renegade. Had sever paragon options taken, but also a few renegades. I'd have to go back and check my ME1 copy but *shrugs* I was looking foreward to seeing the rachni queen (I'll be playing again as my soldier who did save her). Villians were... wanting. You effectively just had the three merc bands, a tiny bit of geth, and then the collectors. You didn't feel you were up against a single monolithic organization. And even then the main story missions were so few that the final enemies felt out of place. I also think the R&D system was a misstep. I understand you want to show us a massive galaxy, but having us grind our way through it is... idiotic. Probably a mixture of R&D and standard inventory system would be best Provide more variety but also customization for that variety. I certainly hope that ME3 has a massive galactic war with the turian/asarii/geth/migrant fleet/alliance on one side and reapers on the other Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Jaesun Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Ha! Damn you Bioware *shakes fist*! But I foiled your evil plans to kill my party! I finally got the Everyone Survives, after re-loading my last auto-save. Having Mordin die constantly was I guess a HUGE HINT as to where you need to to place him. If anyone was wondering, here is how to get the happy happy joy joy all survive ending, Spoilers of course: DO NOT DO THE IFF mission until you are ready to proceed Do all Loyalty Missions All upgrades, though I did all but the assault rifle (4 out of 5) cuz I was poor. :/ Do all N7 Missions After doing all the above now do IFF Mission Awaken and Do Legions loyalty mission When you next select the Galaxy Map, you are attacked IMMEDIALY choose to go to the Relay (otherwise your crew dies) Tech Specialist * Tali Leadership * Miranda Biotic Specialist * Samara / Morinth Crew Escort * Any loyal character - I chose Zaeed FINAL Boss Battle Crew: Mordin and Miranda All survive and crew is saved. Morgoth Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Ah crap. I knew from the first second when my crew died like flies I'd do something wrong. I'm still too lazy to replay though. For now. Rain makes everything better.

Tech specialist is probably just anyone with a tech ability (Tali, Mordin, or Legion), for the biotic I went with jack and she survived, I don't think you can loose anyone on the last two but I'm not sure. RPGmasterBoo Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Bah I got them all through on my first try. It was so obvious whom you had to choose for what task. Am replaying now on Insanity to pump up my Shepards last three levels. Insanity isnt difficult its just imbalanced. Consider this, my Shep cant kill one mech without emptying his clip, with warp ammo fully upgraded. By the time I kill one the others are already breathing down my neck. Biotics work, but only when their armor is gone, and they all have armor... Doesn't matter anyway, three levels and I'm gone. I would replay the game again, but I cant suffer through planet scanning and the grindy bits. Imperium Thought for the Day: Even a man who has nothing can still offer his life

213374U Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Am replaying now on Insanity to pump up my Shepards last three levels. Insanity isnt difficult its just imbalanced.Imbalanced? I'd say it's retarded. I tried insanity for my second playthrough. Once I realized that every joe shmoe and his dog has shields and/or armor, I switched back to veteran instantly. The rock-paper-scissors scheme is the worst part for me of the revamped combat system... an "option" to have it forced down your throat on every single fight in the game is more drudgery than I can tolerate. Shame, because hardcore and insanity were cool in ME1. Oh well, I'll just have to bear with it for Tali's mission. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

Mordin doesn't work. You need Legion or Tali for that mission. The Biotic works fine with Jack or Samara. The leader for the other team is good with Miranda, Garrus and Jacob. These are the only ones I've seen confirmed. Escorting the crew is any loyal member. The final battle is also any loyal member. Non-loyal squad members on the final boss will be dead after your platform crashes. Also, you can have everyone survive with only three ship upgrades (armour, shield, weapon) and three group members loyal provided you choose the right ones. I heard something about a dev saying it was theoretically possible with only two loyal. Don't know if it was ever said, or is true though. 213374U: Nothing in ME2 is even close to being as bad as immunity spam in ME1 on insanity. Yay! Let's give everyone a million HP and then stack 80% damage immunity with regeneration on top of that! Screw you Bioware! Edited February 6, 2010 by Deraldin

Actually there is an entire thread at the bio social website. ONLY (Tali or Legion can be a tech specialist. Anyone else will die. And they must be loyal. Import your finished ME2 character and you start with 50,000 units of all material. I've noticed but substantially more Platinum and Paladium is needed... Then there's the problem that I explored every single galaxy to 100% and I've no idea what I'd do in a new playthrough. The renegade/paragon options don't seem to matter because the outcome is always the same, there are no random encounters, no missed dialog, no class/gender/whatever specific quests... Magnum Opus Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) Being the sort to "do everything" in a game such as this, I didn't find it at all hard to keep my recruitables alive for the suicide mission. 'course, the flip side is that even after activating the IFF and getting my crew nicked by the collectors (oh, and a show of hands from everyone out there who KNEW FROM THE MOMENT THEY SUGGESTED IT that plugging a piece of Reaper technology into a state-of-the-art Normandy with a functional and illegal AI would end badly... anyone? Anyone?) , I STILL felt the need to "do everything", so I futzed around a bit scanning planets, getting my robot all nice and loyal, and taking care of the few straggling missions that I hadn't yet taken care of. My specialists all survived and I got the "no one left behind" achievement, but the secondary players in the cast largely got themselves liquified. *sigh* Poor Kelly... and Chef (the cook, I forget his name)... and Gabby. Oh, and that non-interactable who only sits at that table on the crew deck and talks about his family. And the two in the mess hall who only ate ate ate for the whole bloody mission. Doctor Chakwas survived, though... the lush. S'pose I really ought to taken care of the crew, but I forgot that this is a series where timers actually do get a certain amount of use. Was still in DA:O mode for that one, where time simply stands still. I did end up with close to a million units of all the rare resources except eezo, though. That's a great ,minigame to play when you're really tired, but can't quite fall asleep at night. Just start scanning planets... is better than counting sheep. Edited February 6, 2010 by Magnum Opus
Nepenthe Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Import your finished ME2 character and you start with 50,000 units of all material. I imported a new ME1 character after beating the game once, and also got the 50k material in all. Also, after hammering my head to the wall during Mordin's recruitment mission, things have been running a lot smoother. Ran completely out of ammo once, that was interesting, especially with a soldier. Purgatory gave me a lot of trouble last time on normal, waltzed through it on insanity now. I must be warming up. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
