December 9, 200916 yr They don't seem to be on the original site anymore, but we got some in-Onyx shots of environments from Aliens: Crucible, as well as what appears to be a visual design document. Naming an area "Roanoke" was certainly a nice touch. Edited December 9, 200916 yr by Pop Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
December 9, 200916 yr Sega hate go! This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
December 9, 200916 yr Looks... kinda bad to be honest. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Dead Space. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
December 9, 200916 yr Author Awesome. That looks like a lot of fighting. In tunnels. Reductionism yaaaaaaay Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
December 9, 200916 yr Still so disappointed that this was cancelled. Could've been a really interesting RPG, bleh. Anyways, shots don't look amazing from a technical standpoint but the lighting is really nice. That and the architecture are definitely evocative of the movies. I'd have to imagine that the engine was in a pre-alpha state, so on a lot of the objects noticeably lack anti-aliasing. The lighting is very good, as you said. I bet it would have looked nice at the end of it. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
December 9, 200916 yr Yeah, and the screenies are prolly a couple of years old now as well I'd guess. Listen to my home-made recordings (some original songs, some not): http://www.youtube.c...low=grid&view=0
December 9, 200916 yr Graphics don't look anything special, but they are old and 'work in progress', so fair enough. I'd also imagine lighting had a big part. I wonder how Onyx will look in the next Obsid game to use it though. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
December 9, 200916 yr looks like an aliens game. color me disappointed as hell it got canceled Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.
December 10, 200916 yr Wait, Aliens got cancelled? When the crap?? (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
December 10, 200916 yr I seriously do not see the point in making an Aliens RPG. Wasn't Aliens some terrible sci-fi action movie that tried too hard to be horror? "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. December 10, 200916 yr But it's such a generic setting. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! December 10, 200916 yr This was one of the games that gave me a reason for living. *sigh* *dies* Some of my Youtube Classic Roland MT-32 Video Game Music videos | My Music | My Photography
December 10, 200916 yr But it's such a generic setting. Maybe we are thinking of "generic setting" differently, but to me it seems there's nothing generic about the setting(s) of the first 2 movies. The seetings are somewhat limited (we don't know much about the world beyond the movie, although we are given some clues in both of the films), but the settings as used in the films is hardly generic. Geiger's work alone in the first film is about 180 degree opposite of generic. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
December 10, 200916 yr Me too. Let's start a club. Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.
December 10, 200916 yr But it's such a generic setting. No. It's just that it became such a cult icon that its influence has been felt in sci-fi/horror works ever since. "In space no one can hear you scream" It's "genre-defining", rather than generic. Shame about the game. December 10, 200916 yr If I ever make a game, I'm going to make sure to have floor fog like this. Everywhere. Outside, inside, you name it. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
December 10, 200916 yr It's really unfortunate that so many planets have ground fog that just barely covers up alien eggs. twitter tyme
December 10, 200916 yr I wish I had that fog in my apartment. Would help cover up the mess a bit. Listen to my home-made recordings (some original songs, some not): http://www.youtube.c...low=grid&view=0
December 10, 200916 yr Wouldn't it be awesome if Sega gets a new key executive who decides Obsidian can resume working on Aliens? Ahh....wishful thinking. Rain makes everything better.
