Project Origin. It's an OK shooter, the enemies take more cover than those in most FPS's but not as much as COD4 or it's predecessor. The gore got ramped up (with entire sectors of levels being bloodier than the "I think something got very angry here" scene in FEAR). But thus far the enemies go down like wet spaghetti, but the fire effects are awesome and you get a freaking flamethrower.

 

They also got better at putting horror and shooting together so that there isn't the protracted segments of being haunted that give way to heavy segments of gunplay. Rather the segments get shorter, and the horror is often just flashes that show an apparition of Alma or one of her toys.

I finished Morrowind MQ. Never actually did so, the conversations with Dagoth Ur and Vivec and so forth were nice. I finished Morag Tong / Mages Guild / Telvanni as well, so it's good time to let that one go.

 

I wanted to get back to the Witcher and try the EE but my CD isn't here; might get back to twiddling on the nwn2 toolset. Or thief 2.

All that Thief talk in the Yahtzee thread has me thinking of digging up and reinstalling Thief-TDP.

 

But I'm just starting FO3, so I can't. :(

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

I'm actually contemplating on digging up Doom 3 and starting the Dark Mod based on the screenshots. And since I'm running Vista and can't be arsed to feck around with Thief 2 problems.

Only problem might be that it looks a bit too much like Thief 2. It's like they made exact copies of most of the textures and just went for higher resolution. Not to mention the random architecture(solid grey walls of brick in every intersection) that had more to do with Dark Engine limitations than style. I hope some of the later project missions display a more unique style. I actually thought that Deadly Shadows had a very nice art style

I like that you can shoot the damn japanese zombiegirl this time when she does her mandatory "ooOoooOoh!" appearances. You cant hurt her, but it gives me some satisfaction while Im waiting for the chance to blow her actual physical head off in the end.

Haha, how can you dumb down Fear?! It was a run-of-the-mill FPS with a little token horror-crap thrown in to make it stand out form the rest.

There is a higher level of horror, but the combat and enemies got dumbed down a bit (there is however more of them). There are less in the way of controls.

The enemies didn't get dumbed down at all. I find them taking cover far more often than previous, as well as more useage of grenades.

 

And the camo guys in this one are actually lethal. In FEAR, they were just punching practice. And the ghosts that attack, they're harder to see and there is no more auto slow mo while fighting them.

 

Also, just beat it. ****ed up ending is ****ed up.

Enemies weren't that aggressive in FEAR. They generally parked themselves behind cover if they weren't in one of the larger arenas where they'll roam around. And there's maybe 2 or 3 of those areas.

 

I can't think of the number of times that I was able to just bounce grenades around corners to finish those guys.

I've noticed that the armor can take a lot more than it used to. I guess the combat didn't get easier, just you took a heap more health to kill.

I found Arlington Cemetery for the first time in Fallout 3. Seems like I've been finding places I missed in previous play thrus.

Replaying through Lost Planet on the hardest difficulty.

 

 

This is murder. MURDER. I've passed Halo 3 on Legendary, and CoD4 on Veteran, and even Dead Space on the hard difficulty. But this... this is ridiculous. No T-GEN regenerating stations, every small fight with akrids turns into a monster party where every single giant monster is invited. You can barely move because the character keeps getting blasted down by rockets or Akrid attacks. I'm out of ammo by half the level, and sometimes you have to complete a boss fight with no Mech. Impossible, I say. Impossible.

Extreme is awesome!

 

Too bad I traded in vanilla LP for colonies, now I have to go through Hard AGAIN to unlock it.

FO3. Made it to megaton. I bought some armor and fixed some leaky pipes with my repair skill. Then I sold some scrap metal and listened to some guy worship an atomic bomb.

Played the Killzone 2 demo today and I don't get all the hype around it. It looks nicely, yes, but boy, it's sooo average. Maybe a 6/10.

 

And, and it's good to have my PS3 back. :p
