Hey, guys. I was gonna throw in Alien vs. Predator & Aliens vs Predator - Requiem, but I think that will really throw off the LEAST favorite poll . And I really want to know what you guys think (after my disaster "did ANYONE like Alien 3 Poll"). So feel free to compliment or mock those two films as well.

By the by, I just got done watching Requiem for the 1st time. My thoughts: reminded me of ET a lot... I appreciate the improvements that were made on part of the Predator - definately an improvement from the prior film, but I didn't really get a good look at the Alien/Predator hybrid. Also, I guess children, babies, and pregnant women are no longer sacred.....

Check out my KOTOR fan vids on YouTube. And no, they're not of legos.

I choose Aliens because I prefer the fast paced action and vivid characters to the more brooding slow-paced tension of Alien, though Alien is a fine film as well. I own both CE on DVD.

On the down side I choose Alien 3, although it is really a toin coss between that and Resurrection as I didn't enjoy either one particularly.

I disliked the AvP movies intensely. Actually I only saw the first one. Would never see the second one for any reason I can imagine.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

Tough call but I'll go with Alien for fav.

Least favorite is easy... Alien:Resurrection.

Thanks for the awesome avatar Jorian!

It's a bit like apples and oranges, because Alien and Aliens are quite different types of movies. I liked Alien better, for it's atmosphere and visual design (we need more movies with Gigers designs).

Aliens was a terrific action film though

Resurrection is rubbish. They should have had Milla Jovovich instead of Winona Ryder.

Aliens.

Game over.

Alien. Awesomely directed, great script, great characters, and some of the most memorable scenes in film history.

favourite - Alien

least favourite - Alien 3

when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!

It's easy - the first Alien movie was a classic, and the movies have gotten worse ever since to varying degrees. The poll also seems to reflect that.

Not that Cameron's sequel is a bad movie, but it's not as good as Scott's original. Same with Fincher's Alien3. Those three are all somewhere between decent and excellent IMHO. Resurrection falls fairly low in marks, however.

The AvP movies should be disqualified by default, however. They are absolutely terrible. Shame, though, since Claremont's AvP approach in the comic books did have potential, I thought...

Yeah, theres certainly not enough cybernetic penises in movies these days. :)

Alien, I remember really trying to relate to my father the importance of owning a flamethrower after seeing this movie.

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

I love Aliens/James Cameron and it's a great action flick w/some funny moments too, but it did NOT scare me at all.

Thus my fave alien movie is the first one, since it made my heart pound in anxious sympathy for the Captain and had me covering my eyes with my hands so I could peek through them. I also, even years later, couldn't watch it again in one sitting (I can now, but I'm totally film-jaded these days...).

Alien felt alien.

Still gaming with my 9900k/2080ti/32 ram. One day I suppose a game may inspire me to finally upgrade. Maybe.

Alien is my favorite.

Alien3 is my least favorite. Its still watchable, but not terribly good or interesting, IMO.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

I guess I like action adventure more than horror, so I lean more towards Aliens, even though the original Alien was great too.

As for the worst, again, I'd rather watch lame campy action over pointless boring trash horror, so I actually got some entertainment out of Alien Resurrection. Alien 3 is not only the crummiest alien film, but it would probably make my top 10 worst movies ever list. Alien 3 just felt like a massive FU to the franchise. :)

LOL, currently, there is a bit of a pattern.

Best:

Alien = 19

Aliens = 11

Worst:

Alien 3 = 11

Alien Ressurrection = 19

19-11-11-19 :)

Its also funny that while there is a split between which is the best & which is the worst, everyone seems to agree Alien & Aliens = win & Alien 3 & Alien Ressurection = fail.

Haha the poll results are extremely symmetrical.

Oh wait, you just said that.

if you made it into a graph representing deterioration from film to film it would be a straight line.

That is all.

Someone broke the symmetry.

Alien is still my favorite movie of all time. A:Resurrection was just... WTF were they thinking? I remember drooling, thinking Jean-Pierre Jeunet would be directing it... and thinking A:R would be the GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME! OMG! Well it wasn't.

I still have no clue how Obsidian is going to pull off this game...

I can't remember which I voted for/against, but I'm with the folks who like Alien/Aliens for different reasons. One is more suspenseful and the other is more of an action flick, with a queen to boot. So I watch whatever fits my mood.

Aliens3 is my least favorite. I don't know why but some parts of Alien:Resurrection were enjoyable. I think it was Ripley as an alien/human hybrid and how she spanked those mercenaries and generally kicked butt. The rest seemed to revolve around her and was less stellar. That's just my opinion.

Also when I want to see other Giger work one thing I do is watch the occasional modern KOЯN video to see Jonathan's custom-made Giger microphone stand.

This is tough. It's like asking me if I prefer Seven Samurai or Fight Club. I like both Alien and Aliens for different reasons. Same for what I dislike about Alien 3 and Resurrection.

Alien: Has the entire feel right. It's horror. The creature's scary, no hope.

Aliens: Good action flick. Lots of marines die. Without the nuke, they'd have been screwed.

I guess I'll side with Alien.

Alien 3: Characters have no lasting appeal. The horror is not half-bad, but sometimes it feels like the movie wanted to be a drama.

Resurrection: Decent as an action flick. Ryder doesn't annoy me like others, but she's not exceptional. Hybrid is crap. Heck, if it weren't for the hybrid, I'd like it more than 3 without question.

I guess I dislike Resurrection more. What it comes down to is more people survived Resurrection. People shouldn't survive against the aliens. -.-

A standard case of "nothing beats the original", Alien was more solid, more original and more atmospheric. Aliens might as well have been Starship Troopers! Alien 3 was ... well, to put it plainly, it was the worst of the bunch, although they did try to make it like the very first one, it was the fact that they FAILED that really disappointed me. Alien Resurrection ... something about it reminds me of Deep Blue see, or the other way round, just without Samuel Jackson, and that's even worse you guys!

Don't even get me started on Samuel L. He's terrible. ESPECIALLY in Deep Blue Sea. Sorry, but even in Star Wars. My own opinion: he was brilliant in Pulp Fiction, and hasn't acted well in a movie since. I guess he did passable voice acting in the Incredibles...
