Background music, noise, etc is a must. Bloodlines would not have been great without it. Or any other game for that matter.

Music if used right, like in horror films, can make a game more jumpy for the player.

Yeah? I always kicked out the original Bloodlines music. I liked the Hollywood theme, but the rest of the music wasn't so hot.

As for DX's music, I liked it. It seemed overly retro when I first played it, but the longer I play the more the music fit.

DX has music?

Thta's the first thing I turn off :)

Turn it back on... you miss a part of the experience (no, not XP or Skill points! :) ) otherwise

No music from Dx2.

That was only available on DX:IW's main site... but since that one is down  Don't know an alternative adress for DL; but I could try uploading the whole track to Rapidshare if you want to. Just remember it is only the level (and credits/main menu) songs and NOT NG Resonaince (Sp?) (a.k.a. Kidneythieves) music. Makes it not that good as DX's soundtrack...

Please! :) If it's possible.

Halo2's music (metaphorically speaking) annoyed the crap out of me. It was difficult to find the snipers with the music so loud, and muting would not help that. Wasn't 3D sound supposed to be one of the best features? <_< 13_Track_13.mp3 [Allegro poco] From the String Concerto in D minor/RV 154. From the CD Vivaldi Concerti per archi. Something I listen to when the Music is ****. Amazon has a minute preview so it's not illegal.... I hope.

It was in my desk drawer. But I wasn't in the mindset to play it or any other game. Concentration would have been lacking.

Well i sat in a crappy chair, the mouse sucked and don't even mention the keyboard. In the end i was in pain all over so it was not realy the games fault. Maybe i should give it a new try.

I don't know. I played Deus Ex while sitting on the floor, with my monitor up on a coffee table (though I played all my games in that position as well, since that's where my computer was down in the basement.

No, not at all.

I was being dead serious, my computer area was on the floor beside the rest of my game consoles when growing up. The monitor was on the coffee table, with the keyboard coming in from underneath. The mouse was beside the monitor on a mousepad, and the computer was beside the coffee table.

Our basement was rather cluttered with boxes for many years, and it was the most convenient spot for it, especially when it got swapped in and out frequently. That was my computer area for probably 8 years or so. We moved it down from my bedroom because it was easier for my friends and I to use it. After we had some company stay at our house for a bit while they looked for housing, I had to move it back up to my room, at which point I was finally playing on a desk with a chair again.

It was a particularly useful setup whenever I went to a LAN with some friends, as all I needed was a short table to put my monitor on.

In hindsight, it was probably crap for my posture, but it worked for me. Could easily watch TV while playing as well, which was a nice perk.

Hey, Deus Ex. What a coincidence, I just got this game 3 days ago. So far I have been staring at screen with mouth open. This game is so intelligent. Got so exited after hearing the main theme that I started playing in realistic difficulty level. I don`t usually do that (actually I have never done that before), but so far I have no regrets (I`m in Vandenberg now). Shooter with actual dialogue choices, and even consequences? Never thought to see something like this. Me happy. Many games feel after reaching their 7th year outdated and clumsy - they feel dead. Deus Ex is not one of them.

Enough with the dancing clown.

The original Deus Ex is pretty ****in' excellent, though. Once you get past the blocky Quake 2 engine and the synth music (both of which I never really minded in the first place) you've got a lean sci-fi noir, and what's probably the best FPS/RPG ever made, after System Shock.

 .... smh, first off Deus Ex utilized the Unreal Engine from Epics's Unreal Tournament game circa 1999 & as for jaggies L2AAX4 ... quake 2 engine indeed ;)

Wow the music in Deus Ex isn't synth either :-" ... the music used throught the game is some of the best I've ever come across in any game. (w00t)

Oh and it beats System Shock.

Either way, I'd hate to have to live on the difference.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
