kirottu Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Rather impressive looking even without weed. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Musopticon? Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Katamari-vibes, serious Katamari vibes. They probably were eating the same shrooms. :D Very impressive demonstration. I wonder if we will see something akin in Episode 2. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
Azarkon Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 If I made a portal on the ground, and then one directly above it on the ceiling, and then jumped into the one on the ground, wouldn't I fall forever? There are doors
Musopticon? Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 There was a excerpt of a similar situation in the demonstration. So, yeah. Although I assume there is a reset feature if this game follows the one-room-one-puzzle-formula. Otherwise you're forced to reload. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. LostStraw Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 It wouldn't work on many of Half Lifes current levels -- allowing one to get outside where the level designer intends results in some pretty ugly scenery. The level designs would have to all be completly enclosed, like seen in the movie, or very open ended like Ovlibion. Making an FPS with free roaming could be done, but it would be a very different experience, not like the Half Life games at all.
LostStraw Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 That game liek owns Prey LOL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The portals don't look as nice though.
metadigital Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Personal Portals FTW OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
angshuman Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Careful, sonny. You can hurt yourself pretty bad with those.
Llyranor Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Wait, that looks pretty fun. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Jumjalum Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Ep 2 is going to be the best purchase ever. We now bring you live footage from the World Championship Staring Final.
alanschu Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I liked the sentry that kept falling through the ground, only to pop up, and fall back down again.
Morgoth Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 What does actually happen if I throw one portal onto my left foot, the other onto my right foot? Crossed legs? Rain makes everything better.
alanschu Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 No, you'd have your legs upside down on each side. It'd look bunk!
Musopticon? Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 (edited) Well, that probably depends on whether the player character really has a model in the game or not. If I recall alright, HL 2 didn't have one. Edited July 19, 2006 by Musopticon? kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Pidesco Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 This looks awesome! "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Bokishi Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 No, you'd do the thirdperson cheat and see this black colored statue dude. Current 3DMark
alanschu Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 It's unusual for the charcter to be rendered in game, as it's typically not necessary (this is why you don't cast a shadow in Doom 3). It's becoming more common though. Well, unless they find a way to cast shadows in games like Farcry in a different way.
Musopticon? Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Body awareness(to use the common gameplay term) would allow things like your weight affecting enviroment, e.g you could portal yourself over one of those cannons and topple it with your body. It would also look nifty. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food.
