May 22, 200619 yr Well games should be fun. If they were too real they wouldn't actually be games. Current 3DMark
May 22, 200619 yr True. Wasn't arguing that though. I had thought that some of nature's journeymen had made men and not made them well, for they imitated humanity so abominably. - Book of Counted Sorrows 'Cause I won't know the man that kills me and I don't know these men I kill but we all wind up on the same side 'cause ain't none of us doin' god's will. - Everlast
May 22, 200619 yr I actually like CoD 2's health regeneration. I hated having to replay an entire level because my autosave has me at 2 health, and there's no medpacks nearby with a tiger tank blocking my way. As for Fallout versus Fallout 2, I choose Fallout 2. Fallout was too short.

May 23, 200619 yr Huge Draw Distance without Huge Load times = Farcry I'd also nominate Farcry for a new standard in pretty looking water Also, how does Ocarina of Time not get nominated for the "Z" targeting system?
May 23, 200619 yr I dunno, Farcry took quite a while to load on my new computer. Of course I only saw the one loading screen at the beginning
May 23, 200619 yr oh! Forgot! Online gaming, Starcraft (really... did you and your freinds ever dial into the internet to play somthing BEFORE starcraft?) Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
May 23, 200619 yr oh! Forgot! Online gaming, Starcraft (really... did you and your freinds ever dial into the internet to play somthing BEFORE starcraft?) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not often, but it was done for things like C&C:RA in 1 on 1 games. I think the key here would be BNET and how easily it allowed for several players to get together

May 23, 200619 yr I thought Quake made online gaming a standard. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
May 23, 200619 yr I'd say Quake too. It was the game that made online gaming really popular. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
May 23, 200619 yr I thought Quake made online gaming a standard. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> an arguement could be made. I'd still side with Starcraft and BNet for making it a standard. Starcraft pretty much made multiple races a standard in RTS
May 23, 200619 yr Wasn't Diablo the first BNet game? "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
May 23, 200619 yr Wasn't Diablo the first BNet game? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, but niether diablo did what SC did for online gaming
May 23, 200619 yr The online honor should go to Warcraft 2. Even on the Mac(what I was using at the time it was still fairly new) there were a ton of people playing it. That was when you still had to type in IP addresses. It's popularity only grew more when Battle.net rolled around.

Again tho, Warcraft 2, Red Alert, etc were all only 1 on 1. Something to be said for that step, but Starcraft was somethign else.

Something to be said for that step, but Starcraft was somethign else. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not quite true, Warcraft 2 was up to 8 players, same as it was post Bnet. There would've been no Battlenet if it weren't the huge online success WC2 enjoyed to inspire Blizzard to go that route. Edited May 23, 200619 yr by StillLife
