I mean, if one was a sensible homophobic racist (an oxymoron, I know), one would claim that the people who are cabable of beating him are all blonde, blue-eyed Aryan Ubermensch, right? At any rate, the only "racial" remark I ever use is "Are you a Mex-i-can't or a Mex-i-can?" Mostly saying it during Battlefield or other PvP situations when someone on my team says they can't do something. To me, this article makes a mountain out of a mole hill. Yes, you hear racist remarks in online gaming, but if anyone is taken by surprise they're really short-sighted. While i am not surprised by racism i do not play online games so am not familiar with the type of stuff that goes on. I suppose some of you are jaded or accept teh behaviour as a matter of fact but i know that my gaming experience would be ruined if i were to hear racist remarks. I have rarely seen anything but friendly bickering and the few times that some morons have felt a need to flame anyone but themselves there has been swift justice, but then again I've only played Anarchy Online and MUD (text-based MMO) online. Such outbursts never ruined anything except when they were allowed to continue and deteriorate...but it only ruined themselves as they became a laughing stock to everyone else...and they were subsequently noshouted...which is the ruin. Words don't break bones, set people on fire or cut open someones scrotum. They do nothing except upset overly sensitive whiney people. I'm not really much of a carebear and think the best way to combat racism is to just learn to give as good as you get, not flapping your arms about, and crying to mummy that the bad man called you names. It's actually somewhat rare to find decent players who laugh about things and offer a friendly "Good game" after the match is over. Then again, a good deal of it is just ****in' hilarious, and I love to mess with the people that do it. You'd be surprised how quickly people quiet down when you break in with a loud "BaAaAaAaAaAa" sheep sound...or make them think you're doing.........stuff.... All in good fun. Happens a lot...so either grow some skin, preferably the thick kind, or take your ball and go home. And like Aurora said...since when is this new?
