Child of Flame Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 They just came in the mail, all brand new, I got Fallout 1&2 in a double pack, and Torment and Soulbringer in a Double pack, it was nice to get Soulbringer because I thought I just bought Torment, but I've never heard of it. Is it any good? I'm thinking I'll play Torment first, then sink my fangs into the Fallouts.
Gorth Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 No idea what Soulbringer is, but try Fallout 1 before Fallout 2. Apart from that, any order of the games that suits your mood “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Claws Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 You should definitely play Torment last, because once you do, every other RPG will seem like ****.
NeverwinterKnight Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 id go with fallout 1 first, then fallout 2, then torment. never played soulbringer.
Kelverin Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Fallout 1 than 2. Use the other games as coasters for your drink. (Yes that means Torment) J1 Visa Southern California Cleaning
mr insomniac Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 ^ What a surprising reply Never tried Soulbringer, but the others are all good, so... how about order of release? FO1, 2, PS:T. I took this job because I thought you were just a legend. Just a story. A story to scare little kids. But you're the real deal. The demon who dares to challenge God. So what the hell do you want? Don't seem to me like you're out to make this stinkin' world a better place. Why you gotta kill all my men? Why you gotta kill me? Nothing personal. It's just revenge.
Child of Flame Posted February 9, 2005 Author Posted February 9, 2005 I couldn't resist, I cracked open Torment first. I like Morte, and there's this chick in the square of Sigil named Annah who got pissed off at me. I managed to talk my way out of the Mortuary, so there was no confrontation there. I'm stuck in this Mausoleum place. <grumbles>

Finger of Death Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 no no,I think play FO2 first. If I tell you I'm good You would probably think I'm boasting If I tell you I'm no good You know I'm lying ---Bruce Lee

I talk to everybody I see in RPGs, it hasn't done me a disservice thus far.

NeverwinterKnight Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 so don't take that with less than a pound of salt <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i dont think ive ever heard that expression before. are you sure thats how it goes?
Gorth Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 I'm stuck in this Mausoleum place. It's a dead end! Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Is it the quest you get from the dustman in the bar ? In that case, it's a simple dungeon crawl. Kill anything that moves and don't save your buff charms for later, you won't really need them that much later. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. ~Di Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 I hated Soulbringer. Tried for ages to get into it, but never really made it past the first chapter. Probably just me, but I found it simply awful. One of a mere handful of games I never bothered to finish because I disliked it so much. When you do Fallout, be sure you do them in order. I don't think the original Fallout needs a patch, but don't start Fallout 2 until you've patched it. It really needs that patch, and the patch screws up your save games. Torment is a truly great game... but it's one of those that you will either adore beyond reason or despise more than death. Let us know what you think, and happy gaming!

Let us know what you think, and happy gaming! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I think the versions I've got are already patched, at least Torment came with the latest patch installed, I tried installing it before I realized, and it screwed it up (made it tell me to change discs and get stuck on that screen). I like it a lot so far, it's really fun, more like an interactive book than a game really. As for the Mausoleum, it's the big long hall you enter via the portal in between that one mage's house and the Wall of the Dead thingy (where they bury names). I accidentally found it, so I don't know if a dustman was supposed to tell me to go to it or not... It's a big long hall with lots of skellingtons, and I was doing fine until I came upon a giant skellington (like the ones in the mortuary that you could destroy) only this one was awake! I got slaughtered right quick. I got the quest to go down it via a spirit at the begging of the hall, who told me there was a being holed up at the end of it bothering them. Anyhow, I've got an FAQ now, but any tips anyone can give me for this quest would be helpful.
213374U Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 more like an interactive book than a game really. The reason behind its greatness for some, its biggest flaw for others. It's all a matter of taste... you seem to like that, good for you. And um, you say you have a FAQ, my advice is that you get rid of it ASAP and just play the game... that applies to any game. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

It's all a matter of taste... you seem to like that, good for you. Honestly, I read a lot, and for any game I play, if it doesn't have an in depth, or at least meager (in the case of shooters) I'm not likely to replay it. And um, you say you have a FAQ, my advice is that you get rid of it ASAP and just play the game... that applies to any game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only reason I got it was for character creation, and to find out some of the features of the interface that I didn't know about (the jewelcase version of Torment comes with only two discs, and no instruction manual). I just figured out if no one could give me any advice on how to get through the mausoleum, that would probably hold the information I seek.
Gorth Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Well, as number guy said, get rid of the FAQ. You've got one important stat in the game, thats wisdom. Rest is there for variation and flavour About the mausoleum, I didn't even know you could go there without getting the quest Once you get rid of the big bad skeleton, be prepared to meet his brother (and later yet an evil overlord, and then... j/k). You could eventually save them for later and then come back with an additional NPC to help with the fighting. One final tip, death is not the end With a few exceptions, getting yourself killed in combat has no more consequences than having to walk back to the battlefield. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Darque Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Wisdom may be primary, but Intelligence and Charisma are also very important.
