Does anyone know if new Jedi Knight game is gonna be released shortly?

I would think that some ascepts of KOTOR could be introduced to the series, hence making them more sotry driven.

Also the next Jedi Knight could also take place in Old Republic times.

They released Jedi Academy shortly after Jedi Outcast. We'll probably have to wait a while for the next one. I liked Jedi Academy, but it left something to be desired. The levels were fun, but extremely short and easy. Also, the game didn't let you play as Kyle = P

But hey, this post doesn't belong here. This s a kotor forum....

That was one of the positives, as far as I was concerned. I don't like playing an existing character (Revan was an exception because, technically, he wasn't "existing" before KOTOR was made).

Well there any many historical holes in the Star Wars universe that can be exploited to create new stories and characters.

I totally agree with DSLUKE, a more story driven game JK game would be awesome.

Don't get me Wrong Jedi Outcast was a good game with a ok story, but it was no KOTOR. But i don't see it happening any time soon cos Raven games are currently making a sequel to x-men legends.

Uh, did Kyle Katarn exist before Dark Forces? >_<

- When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

Yes

Where? I thought he was invented for Dark Forces way back in 1995.

He was the star of the series leading up to that point. I didn't mean he was in one of the Movies or novels, but that he had already been "seen" before.

I for one would love a new JK game, but some things would need to be seriously overhauled. For example, I would introduce RPG-like dialog and a non-linear (

Ah yes, I forgot to mention one important thing. A new JK game would need to have a superb physics engine, allowing you to use the Force to move all objects and throw them at your foes (like HL2's gravity gun).

And some memorable characters in the plot please.

The big thing I think is that we've already seen the end result of trying to add any more complexity to prerecorded mo-cap: JA and it's horrid kata's, lack of control, and just general terribleness. If they make a new one we need a drastically new control system that lets you use the lightsaber in a freer manner. How this is possible, I don't know.

Jaden was horrible. Just a generic little brat. No story whatsoever. Then there was the dreadful support for the game. Not as bad as KotOR's, but then I didn't get banned from message boards for mentioning the fact that KotOR was a non-functional product.....

When I played HL2 I thought the engine could have been designed specifically for a Jedi Knight game. Force Grip gravity gun style would be outstanding, and free reign to tug anything about you want instead of the few things you're supposed to what be pretty good too.

It would definitely need better characters though, Jaden and his/her whiny pal were the most irritating game characters ever. Jedi are supposed to be warrior monk style folk trained from childhood like shaolin monks. So why are so many Jedi in things lately such stereotyped whiny little teen ****? I blame Anakin Skywalker.

That's only true for the prequels. In the NJO era, everything sucks.

There is still the most important issue of any Jedi action game: lightsaber combat. I'd rather not have another game with such a craptacular fighting system as that of JK2 and JA. I mean, it was fun and stuff, but it was nothing alike the movies. Jumping and running around in circles all the time is not what good ol' Obi-Wan does. We'll see how they do it for the EP3 game, but I'm not holding my hopes too high.

I found the lightsaber combat in JA very confusing. Obviously I never mastered it, but I found myself, as you described, jumping around all the time, pressing the mouse button and running rather than an actual "duel".

I loved JK2 combat. Not that much against human or computer opponents but watching 2 or more equal computer controlled NPC fight each other.

Spawn few Luke's, few Dark Masters and some Stormtroopers for fun. Asbolutely beautiful. KotOR combat should look like that.
