Who do you think is the most powerful Dark Jedi(Sith Lord, Sithi, etc.) and who is the most powerful Jedi? (note: explain your choices)

I'd have to choose Yoda for the most powerful Jedi just because no other Jedi's abilities ever impressed me as really special.

For the most powerful Dark Jedi, the Emperor/Darth Sidious wins hands down. His intelligence (method of ruling so he had no challengers), his manipulation, his lightsaber skills (who taught Darth Maul) and his control over the force (one word - Force Storm) are exceptional.

Define your standards for guaging greatness?

Accomplishment? force aptitude? skill with a saber? dress sense? longest reign?

The problem with this is that while Palpatine was extraordinarily powerful, we've never seen him wield a lightsaber or any offensive capabilities other than lightning. Vader we've only seen fight as a Padawan and as an old, crippled man. But based on skill with a lightsaber (and what we've seen and know), I'd have to say Mace Windu (Jedi) and Exar Kun (Sith). That's just what I think.

Not really. We see him fight with a lightsaber in Dark Empire I & II, but that's because that he has become young again using his clones and the Dark Side.

Despite the fact that many people who've played KOTOR has a negative view on it, I'm still very optimistic about the Februari release and can't wait to get my paws on the game :D

Hmmm....And how does he do there?

Palpatine always struck me as the definitive Dark Side Consular (or Sith Lord, in KOTOR II terms.) He doesn't need a lightsaber 'cause he can decimate the opposition with nothing but the Force.

I made this half-pony half-monkey monster to please you

But I get the feeling that you don't like it

What's with all the screaming?

You like monkeys, you like ponies

Maybe you don't like monsters so much

Maybe I used too many monkeys

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

Kun is the most powerful we know about. Even if palpatine is better with powers, kun has access to ancinet sith stuff Palpatin can never imagine. I have no clue about Jedi. Someone's probably more powerful than Yoda, its just we don't know that much. Yoda's most powerful.

Well enough, I suppose, but it's hard to really say. But he battles Luke twice; wins once, loses once...

It's true enough that a Consular type relies more on diplomaticy and his/her use of a silver tounge, but no Jedi/Sith is ever without battle skills. Besides, you can't and shouldn't always rely on the Force to be there to "save" you

Anakin skywalker was supposed to be the most powerful of the imperial era. Possibly more than Yoda. It's difficult to guage who the most powerful is, since they're spread over such a great time period so there's no common measure or standard to pit them against. For instance, Anakin solo could be the most powerful, or Jacen solo. Luke effectively beat Vader, who then beat Palpatine, does that make him more powerful than both? Hell, Luke almost got toasted by Lord Nyax even when his side outnumbered him more than 20 to 1.

Yo, Jolee was the most powerful.... :p

Palpatine owns them all.

"For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretences- either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed; and in return we hope that you, instead of thinking to influence us by saying that you did not join the Lacedaemonians, although their colonists, or that you have done us no wrong, will aim at what is feasible, holding in view the real sentiments of us both; since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must."

The Jedi who completely masters himself is the most powerful.

:nods sagely:

;)

No one is stronger, there is balance, jedi always win because they have larger numbers. And even then they almost get crushed. Naga Sadow was never caught. The planet surface of yavin 4 had to be bombed to hell to kill Exar Kun. Malak was a pathetic coward, if he didn't fire on Revans ship there wouldn't be a Republic.

Darth Shaggy: Fear, fear is my ally, fear and food, um...fear and food and blunts. ;)

Any Jawa Jedi owns. Simple as that.

Evolutionary Development

Darth Jar Jar managed to ruin a Movie shoot in a entirely diffrent galaxy and far in the future single handed...thats is some serius dark side force power.

Luke effectively beat Vader

he did? ;)

Darth Luke after all he killed the sith and took the mantle of dark lord for himself.

Luke effectively beat Vader

he did? :p

Yes, he did. In the final Saber battle in ROTJ he gave in to hate and anger and beat the crap out of Vader, cut his hand off. Threw his saber away and confronted the Emperor.

Ummm, Vader didn't really fight Luke.

Anyway, Anakin has much more raw power than Yoda, but Yoda is more powerful. Understand?

Control is key.

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying

Are the best I've ever had

Vader didn't really fight luke? He got hammered. I don't think he willingly let luke run up to him, bash his ass to the floor and cut his hand off. Not after taunting him out.

Control stifles the raw power of the force.

Ummm yes he did. have you read any EU books? Also, it was vaders intent to get luke DS. He wanted luke to unleash that wrath. It worked and he succeeded. I also have a theory that the emperor was subtly helping luke as he wanted Vader gotten rid of. Oh and about that control stifles the raw power of the force, you're partially correct.

I have read most of the NJO EU books. Not any of the ones immediately after OT. I might sometime.

He might have been trying to tempt the anger out of Luke, but I doubt he wanted himself to be maimed in the process.

The Emperor could have done without both of them really. Vader was too attached to his children, Luke too attached to his sister and friends. He was confident he could get them both to serve him. Look where that got him.
