Non-GPU griping news:

You can apparently now build an entire ship in No Man's Sky, walk around in it, use it as a mini-flying base (I guess?), and leap into space out of it.  I've downloaded the update but haven't turned it on yet. If one can build a decent mini-base sized ship that doesn't fly/handle/land like the Titanic, it'd be my dream. No need for a freighter then. It'd be nice if they put the build-station in Abandoned Mode too, but probably not. Hasn't happened yet, but by the time Light No Fire releases, NMS may/is gonna need a new PC to run it well/max.   😛

It's not really that deep a dive but if one wants to hear him talk about it a little. 😛

Still gaming with my 9900k/2080ti/32 ram. One day I suppose a game may inspire me to finally upgrade. Maybe.

Here is a quick 6 minute Bloodlines 2 gameplay video

It seems okay, I will wait for final release to see how good this game really is. Im a little reassured but not much

Here is a more detailed gameplay video for Bloodlines 2, its 11 minutes and covers some more detailed mechanics like decapitating combat skills that certain clans have and different dialogue outcomes around your play style

Its making the game look much better

The game does look interesting and good. But without a third-person mode option, I will have to pass on it.

Age of Wonders 4 did a faction creation contest. They were going to pick three submissions to win stuff, have a fourth get a gift through community reactions, and a fifth by random draw.

They apparently expected only some forum regulars to participate. They got a thread with 18 pages instead. So today they announced they'll do more winners.

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

Unless you have a valid credit card. Steam have begun rolling out a requirement for all UK-based users to verify their ages, if they wish to access store pages for games rated mature. According to reports, debit cards are acceptable too.

The regulation follows the passing of the UK's Online Safety Act, which now requires a host of online platforms to impose age verification systems.

Well, as someone who I know said, "It's game about vampires, it's supposed to suck." 😛

I mean, this was an extremely obvious cash grab attempt that felt very insulting to players. Hearing this was a thing made me want to check out the game even less.

My guess is that the pre-order sales numbers were so damn low that they decided it's not worth it and now move back on it.

Yes, this type of greed is not a good start to this game

At the very least include all the clans in the vanilla game

Charge for DLC once the game is out and confirmed to be worthwhile considering its tumultuous development history

it seems they are utilising at least some of Hitman’s system. Perhaps, closer to Absolution - a narrative, linear experience with some occasional small scale freeform stuff. It seems you can’t kill will you get licence to do it - I supposed it is a good enough way of preventing players from killing civies as Bond.

Tainted Grail's "giant patch" finally came out today. And it's definitely huge - although ofc a lot of things are balance, bug, and small dungeon/loot/other type things. Still, it's massive. I'll probably wait for a little longer to see if there are any quick patches for the patch, but looks like time for a new playthru - or at least loading a save in early Act 1 perhaps.  Also, transmog (at least in some crafting form) and NG+. So one can finally replay to get different loot re: such choices, all on one chr.

But most importantly - will Cohh finally get back to his playthrough "soon"? That was his most entertaining/he seemed like he was having a grand ol' time playthru VoD's in years, for me (I don't watch twitch anymore but I check Cohh a bit more, recently, since he started dual-streaming to YT/leaving the Live VoD's up, vs only Twitch).  I was sad when he put it on hold, wanted to see him finish. 😄

Dev advice: Don't go fully-on Nanite+Lumen if it doesn't hugely benefit your project. E.g. a comic book-style game that has been "nailed" with technology a couple years ago already. Placing a tenner that if you'd ask 100 people on the streets which is the more recent game in between Borderlands 3 and 4, the hit ratio would be pretty mixed. Unless it's 100 tech enthusiasts, maybe.

ALSO: Dishonored (UE3) still remains a more beautiful game than any Borderlands anyway. EVERY FRAME A PAINTING. Sue me, Pitchford!

^ well my 9900k is better than i7-9700, but not by oodles or anything. Confirms my thinking new gen of games will = my CPU is going to be a limiting factor right quick. I'm still confident I'd get BL4 to run at 45-60fps fake-4k/DLSS Performance Med/Low or something, but would I want to. Probably not. 😛  Forums are already full of angry performance-ranters, although as is often the case these days, some of that is re: ppl who want a lot more than 60fps.  I'd say Steam reviews are so far around 40+% negative.

Anyway - they didn't  go full separation hog on the DLC but they did break it up into two major packs (for ones that aren't cosmetic-only):
--Vault Hunter Pack: 2 future new main story areas, 2 new Vault Hunters, other misc  $50  (US $)
--Bounty Pack: 4 future "unique areas" (could just be a battle arena or small side quest/mini mission or something of that nature, not described), 4 new vehicles, other misc  $40  <---personally I'd skip this one
--Base game: $70

So $160 separately (or $130 for 'super deluxe' edition).
Maybe in 4-5 years it'll have a "gold-like" bundle for 50% off. That seems about what it's worth. And I might have a new PC by then. Maybe.

Seriously - even for (some of) those of us with decent higher income factors, it all seems so not worth it anymore (outside of smaller scale/indies/old games etc). And even some "indie" games have serious performance issues re: older/less elite systems because engines or tech or lack of dev experience/skill.
