My **** post seems to be closer the truth than I thought

What's that line in the song - some of those that burn crosses, are the same that work forces?

Best speech I've ever heard from Biden going on right now. In some ways,  his voice reminds me of Ronald Reagan.

I am very impressed with McConnell's speech, he is doing the right thing and  I respect him immensely for this and pointing out the hypocrisy with what Trump wants to do

Pfsh.

Mitch has nothing to really fear from Trump at this point having just won reelection and already having gotten what he wanted. Next time he's on the ballot he'll be in his mid 80s assuming either is still around.

Perhaps the events unfolding today can make quite a few republicans turn their back on trumpism if you formulate it in some economic argument: Image-wise, this is costing the US a ****load of money, and even more cold hard cash won't be generated any time soon because of this.

And then, enter the clown. What a bozo.

It's even better to read his words

"I know your pain I know you're hurt we had an election that was stolen from us, it was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side, but you have to go home now.

We have to have peace, we have to have law and order, we have to respect our great..people in law and order.

We don't want anybody hurt its a very tough period of time, there's never been a time like this where.. such a thing happened where they could take it away from all of us, from me from you from our country.

This was a fraudulent election, but we can't play into the hands of these people, we have to have peace. So go home we love you, you're very special, you've seen what happens, you see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil, I know how you feel but go home and go home in peace."

Ironically before the proceedings on the capital and the mob riot Trump had a rally with all of those people and he was laying it on thick there. In fact it would not be a stretch to say that he incited them to do exactly what they did. I’m afraid I agree with Bill Kristol. Once the capitals cleaned out Congress should reconvene and impeach him. January 20 is too long a wait

I turned tv on, and I do not see any fire, nothing being devastated, a bunch of people standing with flags, as the police secured the stairs. No bricks flying towards police.

So i think that some of the feed is exaggerated.

I guess the initial encounter was abit shocking, but its not looking dangerous to passer bys.

The party of limited government, fiscal responsibility and law and order sure has taken all those values to heart during Trump's administration.

Yeah, I had no idea that the Capitol cluster of buildings were this easy to assail. Good to know for ill-willed organizations and such, I suppose. Some head of security needs to be sacked ASAP, that's for sure.

It's not that easy but the resistance wasn't putting up the same level of fight as it did/does/would with other groups.

Listening to some of these people jaw at the cops and some are saying "If we were BLM you wouldn't be roughing us up"

Also some dude saying they don't want socialism.  Also, saying the cops would let ANTIFA walk in.  Oh man, this is a great comedy show, feel sorry for the cops having to endure this nonsense.

Ransacking and pillaging and basically taking a dmp on USA... Incredible that these things just could go on. And that window cleaner lift, perfect for assaulting people on the next level. Really nice of them having those hanging around.

Oh it just fills me with joy seeing all those "peaceful protest" supporters crying like babies right now. I said if the shoe was on the other foot you guys would make a full 180, and I was right as always.

This is not a peaceful protest and such behaviour is unacceptable and I condemnd it just as I condemned the same behaviour on the other side.

And since both BLM and MAGA protestors are complaining that police is rougher on them than the other group just proves police is doing ok.

Well, would depend on a group existing that would say the police acted well against them, then you can judge the cops by having two groups complain.  Cops seem they've acted similar between the two, DC cops didn't really do anything OTT during the BLM protests unlike the NYPD.  Other than getting caught cold and their inept response, been ok.

Running theme in a lot of the comments are the protesters thinking they are owed better treatment because they supported the cops   I did like the random guy that said that the cops were actually from the Department of Health and were sent by the CDC to separate people from families.

Last hurrah for the far right extremist groups I suppose. They know that once Trump is gone, their brand of bigotry will once again no longer be tolerated.

This has taught me one thing. That some part of me is an accelerationist. Because I had a giggle and a grin hearing about this today.

I do hope we can get back to making progress on serious issues in this country. And that this is more of a last gasp and not the start of another terrifying phase.

Will they be tried on sedition, or some lesser charge I wonder? Me thinks that if Congress hadn't already left the premises then the amount of blood shed would be significantly higher.

Federal charges, i think, so Trump could pardon them...

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
