    if you see it historically, britain lost its independence to the romans, then lost it again to the saxons then lost it again to the normans and it never got it back from any of them. the local population and culture simply merged with the conquerors over centuries into something new. so its not that they never had to fight for independence, its that they never succeeded

    The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain.
