marelooke Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 And the Half-Life 3 will be still in development... That would still be an improvement over its current state
injurai Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Correction: Still hasn't started development. 2
Katphood Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Are Valve saving Half-Life 3 for VR or have they just stopped caring at all. There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

marelooke Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 (edited) Are Valve saving Half-Life 3 for VR or have they just stopped caring at all. As it stands (one never knows) it's not even in the cards. There were some projects in that direction but none of them were good enough so they all got canned. At this point Valve's thinking (and I tend to agree) is that nothing they could release would live up to the hype that has built up over all these years. Fwiw the (or "a") draft for the Half Life 2: Episode 3 storyline was "leaked" by the (one of the?) writer(s) (who is no longer at Valve) so you could read up as to what at least that person had planned for Episode 3. Yup, Marc Laidlaw was the final nail in the coffin. What sad end to one of the most beloved franchises ever. With Blizzard announcing a mobile game, Fallout 76 being the disaster that it is and Sony delivering a half-arsed PS One Classic, I wonder if a golden age of gaming is upon us. There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.
Azdeus Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 back to big stompy robits September 10th, 2019 If Cyberpunk releases anywhere near that date I'm going to throw such a hissyfit. Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

injurai Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 All this means is new investors will come in bolster up Blizzard's hallow shell to chase the next market craze. Thank god Leonard Boyarsky got out of Blizzard when he did. 1
Lexx Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 What did he do there anyway all these years.. certainly not working on a good rpg. "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
injurai Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 He's an artist right? Wiki says Senior World Designer. Diablo 3's world wasn't so bad, but the story sucked and the game design was lead astray. I think Boyarsky probably contributed one of the more successful facets of that game.
Katphood Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 He did some writing and he was also responsible for the art-direction. There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.
Chilloutman Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 art direction of D3? I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"
Katphood Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 (edited) Yup. Back then people seemed to complain about it a whole lot less. Edited December 4, 2018 by Katphood There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Oner Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 I also heard he was a pretty hardcore WoW lorehead. Dunno if that translated to any actual work on WoW or not. Still have to replay D2 to see this amazing story people are telling me it had. Found it about the same level of interesting as D3's, at least from memory. I might give it a whirl if I can get off my ass and dig it up. 2 - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
HoonDing Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 What's Diablo? The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
