Florida used to sound like an amazing place until I saw these three pictures. They can climb fences, crawl out of sewage drains and ring doorbells. How is anyone still alive out there and why aren't there more horror movies about alligators? They're basically that creature from Alien

Considering where I'm going on vacation in November. I have it down to two choices. Either I go to southern Egypt & Ethiopia  to take up the search for the lost Ark of the Covenant. Or I could go to Florida and do some fishing. I'm sort of leaning towards the latter. The former sounds expensive, I can't bring my dog, and there's no fishing.

Discoverd the greatest life hack ever. Wearing ear plugs to work and pretending to be mostly deaf.  Newbees never bothered me once. 

Dog is home now but is bumping her cone of shame into everything. Surgery went great just hoping the biopsy results are equally as good.

I'm home today for the first of my 3 days of home time.  Hurricane Florence didn't touch my part of North Carolina, a benefit of living well inland, I guess, so everything was calm when I got home last night.  It felt good to sleep in my own bed for a night, rather than the bunk in the semi.  Today I took the car through inspection, paid my property tax and got the registration renewed, fueled it up, washed it, and waxed it.  I also bought a car cover to use when I'm away.  With all the car stuff out of the way, I'm just gonna relax for the rest of the day.  Tomorrow I'll do laundry and pay off some bills.  The third day I plan to do no work whatsoever and maybe enjoy a hike somewhere, weather permitting.  Then back on the road I go.

ER visits are fun, last night delivered a drunk chick hitting on every guy, some dude napping and yelling racist crap and swearing. At least nothing major came of it

Yeah my mom fell and bumped her head, so had to get it checked. That is my eighth time in the ER

Checked my spam mail folder and found a Twitter confirmation mail. Figured it would be the usual spam but no, actually someone or some bot registered a  Twitter account with my secondary mail adress (it's the one I use to sign up for less... say, trustworthy, sites).

 

The account wasn't confirmed meaning nobody else or at least not the guys who registerted the account had access to my mails. I deactivated the account, changed my mail password and checked https://haveibeenpwned.com/.

 

That probably wasn't necessary but hey, better safe than sorry.

I've got 10 entries on have I been pwned already. The biggest problem is that some of the data leaks are just merged with others and then reappear... meaning, by now it's impossible to tell how old the data is and if I have to change my passwords *again* or if it's all fine.

Today I got a fun little mail saying that if I don't pay 600$ to a certain Bitcoin wallet they'll release a video of me watching porn. Then followed a long, convoluted explanation about how they managed to do that and that I now have 48 hours to comply. They also know that I read the mail because they included a tracking image.

 

The sender was faked to be my own mail address and they actually managed to find an old password of mine that I used to sign up somewhere (damned if I know where though). They claimed that this was my mail password (it isn't) and that's how they managed to send me the mail using my own address as sender.

 

The video of me watching porn was captured with my webcam. This was probably intended for laptop users where that at least would be possible. I don't have a webcam. I had one back in '98 that had a resolution of 352x288 and captured video with 12 frames per second. Good old times.

 

Oh and the mail of course didn't include any tracking images, and even if it did my mail client is set to not automatically download external resources for exactly that reason...

 

Regardless, it was as good a reason as any to go over my accounts and enable two factor authentification where possible and change passwords.

I get these mails couple times per day since a week or so. It's funny because it is always the same text, but always a different translation to german.

All I get is Russian bride spam,  sort of disappointed now

I've been touching up some of my prints with pastels and so far they look pretty good considering the screen bled out the ink in unpleasant ways. 

Cousin just informed me that an uncle of ours is on life support. Not sure how to feel as I don't really know him that well due to him being in prison most of my life and the few memories I do have of him are mostly negative. I may not have much good to say about him but he's still family.

Bought a simple/casual game (on sale) because it looked like an easy way to pass some time today.

Took over an hour to download the game (since I idiotically didn't take note of size of d/l before buying).

Am now no longer in the frame of mind to fire it up and actually play it.

 

....such is my gaming life (and attention span) in the digital era.

Not the same details in my life of course, but I do know that mixed/unsure feeling with family loss. For me it's always such a strange sensation. I usually eat more chocolate in response.
