Obsidian making Dungeon Siege III
Diablo 3 won't be on consoles. Diablo 3 will be on Macs and will play on any PC from the last 7 years, so the platform shouldn't really be a problem. DSIII has the console market to tap even if Diablo III dominates the PC/Mac market.

Obsidian making Dungeon Siege III
Seems like this is going to be a departure from DS (never played DS2). I'll be interested in seeing how it develops.

Movies you have seen recently
Watched it over the weekend. Its a bit difficult to categorize; its a science fiction film that's not terribly interested in the science its using, its a horror film not terribly interested in scaring us and its a drama not terribly interested in providing sympathetic characters or easily recognizable motives. The film is essentially a riff on scientists playing god in a Frankenstein way (complete with names that reference the movies; the main scientists are named Clive and Elsa, apparently after Colin Clive and Elsa Lanchester from BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN). Very early on it establishes a good dramatic mood; there are a lot of really good ideas here and some really good performances (Brody, Polley and David Hewlett (Dr McKay on Stargate Atlantis), are all great; and I admire Delphine Chan

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
That makes sense, because that would be a pretty dumb thing to think. I've never played a game that automatically gave me free health every second whenever I needed it. Have you even played any game that has regenerating health? Because regenerating health isn't the god mode you seem to think it is. Health is never "free". While health is no longer a limited resource in games with regeneration, losing it means giving up the advantage, needing to retreat and heal, giving your enemies the upper hand. This can be true in games that use health kits/stations as well, where I need to run away from any enemy and run over a kit that automatically fills my health bar, but contrary to popular opinion* in games with regenerating health your health does not regenerate while you are being damaged. Funnily enough, this isn't true of games that use health kits. In Deus Ex I can use health kits from the quick slots or from the paused status screen and heal myself even when taking damage. *By popular opinion I mean whiny anti-regen crybabies. Sorry. I misssed this. >_ Games that give you health while you stand around doign nothing is free health. Spit hairs of the definition of the word "free" if you want, regardless, the game is rewarding you for doing nothing. WHat's next? An rpg that gives you XP for just standing around? You know, just in case the gamer is having difficulty. Wouldn't want them to get stuck or anything, after all. SO we'll just give them regenerating XP sp they can level up again and get on with the game. I mean, why not. It saves them the effort of actually having to go out in the gameworld and you know, do things. I'm sorry but your argument doesn't make any sense. How is having to retreat and stand around for your health to regenerate inferior to having to travel all the way out of a dungeon and back to town to buy health supplies? Essentially both of them are time sinks; both characters have the risk of running into enemies before they've fixed their health. Sure you could choose to go on and keep progressing in the hopes that you find a health kit, but you can also do the same with health regen and just hope that you regen more health than you lose in subsequent fights. Seems to me the only difference is whether you get to push a shiny button to heal yourself or not.

Fallout: New Vegas
Fatman could have been fine if there were like 5 mini-nukes in the whole game and it weighed like 200 lbs/kg whatever. As it stands, it was storage locker material, never to see the light of day. So that's fine, I'll just keep ignoring it in NV. First time I tried to fire the Fatman, I aimed it poorly and managed to hit a rock outcropping instead of the group I was aiming for and nuked myself. I reloaded and shot it again and missed, probably nuking some innocent wasteland wanderer who had no idea what was going on 100 yards away.

I think I'd kill the baboon with my weight, I'd prefer a T-Rex Moon-Boy? Is that you?

Games you are looking forward to.
Official Website seems to indicate Tron Evolution is coming to PC.

Kids
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom used a kids mechanic; the story was broken into three chapters, at the end of one chapter who you romanced would marry and time would cut and the kid would be the protagonist of the second part and the grandkid the protagonist of the third. In this way it made some of your choices matter (I seem to recall each generation had two marriage possibilities and the kid's stats depend on who is picked) as you made your way through the plot. I think for most games a kid isn't going to add anything to the story or to gameplay (and probably be used as a resource sink). I would not be surprised if the end of ME3 gives the possibility of a kid for romantic partners in that game.

Cars, CARS, cars, CARS!
I didn't mean narrow I meant short, my head is almost bumping into the roof. That's a problem a lot of tall people get into with cars; there are some we just physically can't get behind (as is its a bit of a chore getting into my car although I basically fit).

Wow, what a surpise
Don't feel stupid; there turned out to be more to the story involved than what you were first told by your local Gamestop representative.

Wow, what a surpise
Couldn't the problem you're having been attributable to getting red rings (ie they were an early sign the 360 hardware was about to fail)?

LOST season six
Ben: "So Hurley, what is going to be your first order of business?" Hurley pauses and thinks about it. "Dude, we need to find out if I can get back to 1977; I never did complete my version of Return of the Jedi without Ewoks." Ben facepalms.

Deadly Premonition
I've been playing it off and on (not much time for gaming atm) and its truely a nutty game. Several laugh out loud bits but also kinda creepy when it needs to be. Controls are crappy, but oddly not so awful as to make the game unplayable.

5 Reasons It's Still Not Cool to Admit You're a Gamer
lol Can anyone think of a man who handles sex with maturity? What does it mean to handle sex with maturity? What does it mean to handle sex? Sounds a bit like you put it in a box and are shipping it by FedEx somewhere. *ba-dum-tish* Seriously though, I think the problem with sex is that people put too much importance on it. Its this thing that people don't talk about in polite conversation (even with their sex partner!) but at some level most people want it and think about it and (as teenagers) obsess over it. And so it becomes this event that societally is seen as important and serious and yet is really neither.

LOST season six
I guess Gnosticism was influenced by Zoroastrianism. But basically the reference to Jacob and the MiB being twins, one good, one evil. Then they go on about Jacob being the Demiurge, the flawed yet good intentioned being of which everything is attributed to. They called it the Gnostic Wet Fart Ending. Can't say I agree; I don't really think Jacob is the cause of everything. He's another link in the chain of connections that bind the group together. And arguably Jacob can be seen as just as evil as MiB.

Zoroastrian? Seemed vaguely Buddhist to me (Jacob: "It only ends once, everything else is progress"; the losties all get reincarnated into similar lives until they are (re)awakened at which point they step off the Bhavacakra together at a predesignated place)- LOST season six
Enjoyed the end. It totally was not what I expected and yet it fit entirely with the show.- Fallout: New Vegas
And that's what I think is cool - people who want it can have it, people who don't don't. Cool stuff.- Fallout: New Vegas
I hated dealing with food/drink/sleep in old skool games, so I'd be loathe to advocate its return. The "feeding mechanic" in Mask of the Betrayer is one of the reasons I never finished that game. If I want to die of starvation, I'll play Oregon Trail, thankyouverymuch.- What are you playing now?
You mean Kali because Shiva is a man. I think a lot of the Hindu deities get portrayed as multi-armed; I've seen four armed pictures of Saraswati and of Lakshmi, and Mahu Saraswati represented with 8 arms. I think it usually represents the deities connection with other deities who represent different aspects (or incarnations?) of the same being.- LOST season six
We know that the Dharma Initiative could get on and off the island pretty easily, so we don't actually know if Horace and Amy conceived Ethan on the island or off the island - Juliet seemed to think this was an important distinction (and Alex and Aaron so conceived and their mothers all survived the childbirths). I don't think anything we know allows a conclusion one way or the other. - LOST season six
