Worthless Idiot
omgFIREBALLS replied to Lokithecat's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
No! I don't want the only four star navigator available to suffer delusions of grandeur and leave my ship. But if he bulks up from eating gulls, that's fine.- 21 replies

Everything bad

Hey, so I've been experiencing this bug both on live and now the beta (technically different Watchers although built and played very similarly). Since it's still happening I guess it's not on the invisible list of minor fixes. After Nemnok is summoned, I get to say one line, then he ignores me and I can only press End Dialogue. If I approach him after that he talks as though I had agreed to get him grimoires, and I can exchange them for permission to loot the chests but my quest progress is stuck there. See the screenshots. There is nothing happening between these other than me walking up to Nemnok and speaking to him manually. Save file and output log here. I might add that one difference I've noted is that on live, Nemnok's minions acted as though he were dead after our initial conversation. They were sad and disheartened. Now on beta they are dismissive towards me, which seems more appropriate.

I got something you might want to add to the opening post: Get your food buff first. I had started collecting the unique weirdo buffs when I realized I didn't have the food buff yet, and obviously resting to eat it wiped all the other stuff. Fortunately I had a save to fall back on so that I only wasted wardstones Speaking of wardstones, Sigil of Pain is missing from your list. Another edit. Can confirm, but you also rest when eating it, so yeah. Also I doubt you get it from the Pickled Eel. Even if you pass the constitution check to drink the blood (if you even can), the name is just unfit. There's nothing special for sale as far as buffs go either. Another edit. What can I say, I got hooked on this it seems you need to make a super potion and drink it before you can use the bog witches' pool. I drank from it before making a potion and it just polymorphed me into a pig. Drinking again gave me an injury. I reloaded and cleared out the second fight and made a potion and then drank from the pool again, and got the brawn buff.

Firstly, I'm happy it now suggests you sell the whole stack when the stack is larger than three. However, always suggesting that you buy the full stack has some... issues. I wouldn't say I need 31 lanterns, helms or anchors (Neketaka Supply interface). I'm not sure how you run your ships, Obsidian, but when it's time for my ship to leave port I have the crew pull up the anchor so we can use it again. We don't sever the chain and bring out a new anchor I'm fond of the resupply button too, but the system that keeps you from overcapping ship supplies has an issue. If I board a ship in naval combat and end up looting supplies when I win, and I'm already capped, it will tell me I'm irrevocably about to leave loot behind if I click loot all and continue. There's nothing I can do about this, so could we have that message removed when it only concerns ship supplies?

This can be circumvented by just suiciding the Watcher, since that will cut to the Chitupec/crate interaction. Equip no gear and you'll look a tasty target. It's crappy design though as at that level you're just reloading until lucky. Too few abilities. You control only one character. I have no qualms about using this exploit and if you fix it you fix the wrong thing. ^^

Patch 1.1.0 Updates Thread
omgFIREBALLS replied to David Benefield's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Looks like you have to play through the intro at least once after installing the patch. I played through the intro once, and the button to skip appeared the next time I started a new game. (I'm fine with this, would be a good addition to the patch notes though.) I saw the intro and said fk that before even going halfway, then I loaded another save (which was obviously way past the intro) and went back to the main menu and then the skip button was there. I say it doesn't skip far enough though. Should seat us with Berath right away. -
Hey, firstly I'm glad it seems you've fixed the bug where you didn't get your level 1 ability pick at all if you respecced, only kept the free one you got from the order and the other point was lost entirely. There's another bug however that I only noticed now. If you retrain a paladin - single or multi - you cannot pick Deep Faith at level 2 because it thinks you don't know Faith and Conviction yet. Indeed, FaC shows up as one of the abilities you learned for reaching level 2 in the level up summary. It's all easily circumvented by just taking Deep Faith at level 3 instead, but a bug's a bug

Ugh, funny, now that I checked he doesn't have a religious personality listed, but I could swear it's always him harassing me to throw money into the sea and not kill Ondra's magnificent beasts. Maybe it's Eld Engrim... But either way, you don't have to throw anyone overboard. You just save the crate and let the rest handle itself.

Crate always contains gloves with +10% crit damage for me. Chitupec isn't AMAZING to have on your crew since he has one star in Deckhand and one in Cannoneer. With one exception, crew members can't get more than four stars total so someone who knows multiple jobs will never get four stars in anything. However you have to dig deep to find all five deckhands with the capacity to get four stars, and I'm not even sure there exists five cannoneers with that potential. Plus as far as skill checks go I've never seen a higher one than three stars for any naval event outside combat, but for combat I do believe all four stars can come in handy, at least for cannoneers for taking hard shots. Perhaps if your deckhands suck, jibing takes longer? I'm pretty sure their skill determines your chance of catching the wind which is worth 20 speed in any case. So he's not amazing, he's not dream team, but he's ready to do either of the two most common jobs on your ships, and he can become a three star deckhand or three star cannoneer which is still pretty damn good. He's also religious though so he'll implore you to throw money in the ocean now and then
