  1. You're overthinking, he just means Tekehu is both male and overtly bi.
  2. Thanks! that's great! I'll give this a test over the next few days. FWIW since you mention balance testing, the "make arquebus do crushing" mod ended up feeling a bit overpowered --- the thing is that things which are weak to crushing are REALLY weak to it, so the Arquebus just routinely overpenetrated. edit: hrm for some reason the changes don't seem to be showing up in game. I've got it in the override folder just like I did with the prior mod, and I uninstalled the prior mod, but everything seems to still have blunted criticals. Not sure what's going on.
  3. Yeah this would be the ideal presuming it's possible in the code. If not, yeah, patch it over to clubs. There aren't enough clubs in game as is.
  4. I disagree. From the perspective of stability, Skaen is an outlet for people so low on the social ladder that the piss coming down from above feels like a cold rain. It gives them one final recourse against the abuses of the powerful in the form of the Effigy - and keeps them from rebelling every time by killing those most devoted to the cause in vain attempts to summon it. Skaen isn't the god of change. He's the god of scheming. Magran, Galawain, or Hylea would be much better candidates for the gods of social change. RIght -- he's a *bad* outlet. His job isn't to be a god of social change; his job is to discredit those who want social change, as terrorists and rebels and murderers etc. He's the Slave of the Queen. Ultimately, Skaen's existence serves to reinforce the aristocratic social order: he's the eternal scapegoat, and his Effigies serve to rationalize and justify every brutal authoritarian crackdown.
  5. Yeah, in this game having at least two damage types is a functional requirement. My ciphers generally take Arms Bearer for the extra weapon slot, and every party member generally carries one slash or pierce/slash weapon and one crush or crush/pierce weapon. Xoti gets the magic club, Eder gets a warhammer to match his saber, etc. Most of the highest-damage weapons are either piercing or piercing/X type so this is probably a deliberate design choice. Overall I think it means quarterstaves are probably at the overall top of the utility meter because they have high DPS but do Crushing damage. Same was theoretically true in the first game (Llawran's Stick was a far better weapon than anyone ever admitted) but nobody cared as much.
  6. The accuracy bonus from rapiers is a pretty big deal actually. Rapiers were one of the more popular weapon choices during the beta. see: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gsz3Hd_3HPs6RtE5YFTfSUzcPNRUY2h9yy733Jp5_50/edit?usp=sharing Thats' beta data but I don't think it changed since release. DPS wise rapiers are at the very top, only beaten by sabers who have a 10% damage bonus, but mathematically their accuracy bonus probably gives a bigger dps boost vs most targets. Penetration is a little under-valued right now because it was too strong in beta so they made armor values a little easier to penetrate across the board, but it's still useful. Basically every weapon has either high DPS or high Pen, and then "something extra", like reach or accuracy or an extra damage type.
  7. I imagine the sales have drastically slowed by now compared to launch. We are nearing the end of the month and unlike D:OS2 which is still selling well and being talked about, I think people will forget about Deadfire (sadly). Plus we got alot of big tittles popping out in June. I don't think there's really much basis to imagine that. I've been watching the "top sellers" rankings on Steam and it's been doing well, the metacritic score is very good (the critical score especially), it's moved *up* in the SteamSpy rankings since a week ago, etc. I think some folks are trying to push a narrative that the game is failing but there doesn't seem to be any support for it. Last I saw it was beating DOS 1 in terms of max simultaneous players and DOS 1 was a perfectly successful game.
  8. edit: revised versions of the above: https://imgur.com/ECWhmKx https://imgur.com/5vVmygD https://imgur.com/exf6wHL https://imgur.com/FvaQ8Hd I followed the method from this thread: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/97149-tutorial-watercolor-portraits-in-the-gimp/ And layered that over the above versions made just in Irfanview, to get a mix of the effects (when I initially tried the Gimp approach I got pictures that ended up looking washed out and ethereal in-game).
  9. I suspect it never triggers at all or only triggers so rarely that it's statistically insignificant. If it were popping once in a hundred playthroughs, someone would have found it by now.
  10. That's odd i'm just confirming its not lol. 14 int (check passed) 11 res (cannot crush it's will... check failed) Yeah, your Resolve is too low. You need to get it up to 15. You can do that with a base 5 resolve by stacking three +resolve items (if you have the berath's blessings vendor open, there are two separate +2 resolve items available in the starting town, then throw on any additional +1 resolve pet), for a total of +5 resolve from items, then you need a +5 resolve from somewhere else, one of the Watcher abilities gives a resolve inspiration and can be cast out of combat, bingo, total 15 resolve, that with 14 int will let you pick up the mace.

  12. Thanks! You just take the screenshot during character creation, there's a button to zoom in on the character's face. A high-res monitor then cropping down might help. If you're already playing the character, just remake them with the same settings.
  13. Right -- it's a specific class buff and doesn't fit into the inspiration/affliction system, so there's no trigger for it in the scripting. But you never want to cast without it on if you're playing an Ascendant. The same effect could probably be achieved with a "at max focus" conditional since having max focus triggers the Ascended buff. Unfortunately, while the game does have a few numerical triggers (70 focus, 90 focus, etc.) those only go up to 90 and thus only work at very low, even numbered, levels.
  14. Is it possible to / has anyone figured out how to add additional conditionals to the party AI scripting options? Specifically, would it be possible to mod in "self: has buff: Ascended" into the conditional options, so that you could then script (for example) "self: has buff: Ascended" then cast (Time Parasite)" etc. ?
  15. The first game had an issue, which may have carried over, where a "temp" file got corrupted and as a result no saves could be loaded, even though they were all still present in the save directory. If your saves all vanish from the game, but are still present in the save directory, maybe it's that same bug? Fix for that but in the first game was to First delete the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Obsidian Entertainment Then delete the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Obsidian Entertainment then reboot and restart the game; game will create new directories and temp files; etc. Don't know if this will fix this issue in new game but it may be a similar issue carrying over.
  16. Are there any grimoires people have that they particularly like? Ideally I'd like to find one that had thrust of tattered veils, arcane dampener, and expose vulnerabilities. Or alternatively one with all the instant-cast self buffs.
  17. I am also convinced it is gated behind some rare and strict requirements. That or it is not implemented in the game yet (perhaps even bugged?) or maybe rewarded from one of the plagued ships. If it were a plague ship option *someone* would have found it by now just because. The fact that nobody has found it yet at all, as far as we know, means either unimplemented or gated behind something essentially nobody did, like support Woedica in the first game, or give Eder to the blood pool, or something similar.
  18. Wow, thanks. This even works with just, like, cropped screenshots. Take a screenshot during character creation, then process it as above: https://imgur.com/VCnpWap https://imgur.com/6JuI9RH https://imgur.com/z19OP4k edit: redid them by making a few different versions and merging, ended up with results I'm much happier with: https://imgur.com/ECWhmKx https://imgur.com/5vVmygD https://imgur.com/exf6wHL https://imgur.com/gTpDXoP
