  1. (Think you found new fodder in me, Volourn? Now I know you're a troll) Might even be One-hundred and one. What, exactly, is your point? Do you really think a new game wouldn't sell just because it's built around the IE engine?
  2. The hole left by them is evidenced by the mods that are still being made for them.
  3. But is the safe route that much of a no-brainer when your rep is at stake? And in deference to the original topic, I am sick of dwarves and elves.
  4. Why not? In other words, why does it need to be an official campaign setting? (Seriously.)
  5. I'm probably being naive here, but the obvious way to curb a good portion of the beligerant criticism is to answer the nagging question: Why were game elements cut? Fair criticism: the DS path is ..incomplete. After all is said and done, that is my only real beef with the game.
  6. Kreia become a bit unglued if you kill them. Playing both ways is recommended. (and Vrook is a bastard)
  7. Somthing tells me the few people that have said that they "hate" Kreia, here, never took the time to listen to her.
  8. The best. She had the best lines too. Who knew there'd be a place for True Neutral in the Force. "
  9. Let me try this again. Revan was stripped of the Force in KotOR 1, not 2. In 2 ..something else happened. The Fortress was something entirely different from Malachor V - Malachor was a planet. The Fortress was something else - it's been a while, so I don't remember exactly what it was, but it wasn't a planet.. more like TNO's creation Any good RPG will (should, IMO) have suffering and betrayal and regret and insurmountable odds.
  10. Uh.. I'd have to say that the two are vaguely similar, but KotOR 2 doesn't come close to the depth and breadth PS:T.
  11. You have to have Thorium Charges. Either from Dantooine or Korriban.
  12. "peace is a lie, there is only passion" For that reason, I think the devs had the right idea about "romances".
  13. Has anyone ever looked at the tester credits? There are 2 women in about 15 names. I've "beta-tested" for the modding community and was able to give loads of input, creative and otherwise - I'm left wondering where/if pro writer's get input on their writing. I've admitedly never tested, professionally, so what does beta-testing mean to a Co. like Obsidian or BioWare? It's easy to say that more "female CRPG writers" are needed, but I'm not convinced the industry agrees. To address the original topic - these games are written for boys. You might not complain, but I will. :D (But I didn't really miss the romance in this one. IMHO there was only one RPG that did actual romances - BG2.) How's this for loosing a teen rating: the only romance option possible for Kotor3 is for a DS Female Revan and the Jedi/Sith that went to look for her. "
  14. After doing everything one was "supposed" to do, I haven't found it either. My PC also had a rather high Persuade. Although, as someone else pointed out, it's not skill-related. I'm thinking bug(gy)
  15. Negative influence has the same effect? But it would have to be continuous negative influence I assume. Interesting. It makes perfect (poetic) sense.
  16. Unaware, yes, but "unawares"? Really? But ... Oh, never mind. Maybe this is another US/UK thing. :D
  17. Does it really matter why BioWare "left"? Seems to me you're just waiting for the opportunity to flame Obsidian (there's a "war" that goes a long way back.) But this is just my opinion. I also hold the opinion that the storyline was far from boring - it just took a little work to get it. And it took playing it more than one way (light/dark). btw, as I understood it, TSL was in development in tandem with Kotor 1. So it stands to reason they never really "left".
  18. I finally get it. I finally tapped HK-47 and got all his dialogue; I finally got a meeting with the Council (arrogant sots). Excellent work. ****ty finale, but eh. Oh how I love HK-47. And Kreia. Am I the only that's reminded of Ravel? But I don't get this: I had nothing but negative influence with Disciple - I wanted it that way - three negatives, in fact. But now, before I head to the Council, he's willing to talk to me and admit who he is? Why? So he can "romance" me before I go off and never see him (in-game) again? Twit. Bah. BAH!
  19. Uhm. I think you mean "gain" influence.. if you want to "unlock" him, that is. Or am I missing something? If so, pay no mind to the text below. Just kill an innocent. He likes that a lot. Dantooine: walk up to the first mechanic, lightsaber in hand. Use the line "Die, mercenary scum!" when siding with Khoonda Onderon: The fight that occurs when you meet with Kavar, the first time, let him rampage. You can actually get one conversation +INF with him but only when you are very Light/Dark sided. There are others but I don't remember off-hand. There is an excellent walk-thru at GameFAQ's? It's written for the XBox version but holds for the PC.
  20. Clear this one up for me, Linguists Kreia says "... catches us unawares ..." And it's voiced as such, as well. Am I the only one confused as hell by that one? (the only other thing that irritated the snot out of me was the game getting confused about Revan's gender when I set Revan as a woman)
  21. Well, something's definitely buggy in that main Dantooine map for those of us with ATI cards - while there's a fix for it, some game effects look really ugly now. Force sight used to work great.. wonder if it still does with the "fix" in place. " The only other bug I've faced, to this point, is that my bash/security/demolition buttons will be randomly unavailable or none are available to me - and yes, I have skill with those things, and yes, the options should be there for the door/container. It specifically occured with T3 in the Prologue/Ebon Hawk and with Exile in Khoonda.. at least, that's where it was obvious. And while this might not be a bug, it should be: SPOILER! I let one Jedi survive - compassionate fool that I was. So now, in the Enclave Rebuilt, I can only kill him and watch Kreia deal with me (after the dlg w/ her) ... No Council meeting, no nothing... Uhm. I want answers! <_<
  22. I "screwed up" and let the first Jedi Master live.. is this the price to pay for a momentary twinge of compassion? Bah. Anyway, now I don't get the council meeting.. just a battle with the last Jedi followed by Kreia's denunciation. This had better be a bug because I was looking forward to some answers!
  23. After the initial blank screen after char creation syndrome I installed the latest drivers (6.14.10.6512) and was running an ATI 9600-256 fine..... .....until Dantooine. (grrrr) Now I'm having the strangest problem that's limited to Dantooine's main map? ..similar to MadMerac's problem, but it seems to be limited to viewing a certain effect/looking that direction on the map; then I'll "spasm" ..or ..force-jump ..or something to the most remote corner of the map or my character just locks up and spins. Strange to see a Jedi doing a pirouette. <_< Obviously a graphics problem, but whatever. The only thing left to try is the DisableVertexThing. SO I would download the patch but.. uh.. there's no NA version?! This is ridiculous. Didn't they make enough money off the first one to do the second one right? edit: Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 did the trick. After reading a sticky post, I guess this (Dantooine) is a "known" problem.
  24. I'll ditto that, Rula. I sat, staring at a blank screen for 5 minutes : As for the "fix", it didn't fix my problem as I don't have that software. But it's defintely something to do with my machine - it installed/ran fine on another machine; mine won't even access the CD to begin the introduction (after character creation). edit: after disabling Windows firewall, and updating my video drivers, *cough* it's working.
