Portraits IV

Thanks IC! -
You are leaving out a few things. Those mini's you posted are plastic, not pewter. AKA, they cost significantly less to make. Also, those are promo pics, not pics of the models in hand so we don't really know for sure what they will actually look like for real. I find it very hard to believe they are being painted and modeled to the quality the pics suggest, in that volume, for that price. Your post implies they are "converted", as in models made of parts from multiple other models. Unless he got them all free from some box he found in a basement he is probably making next to no money, and if he did get them free he is basically charging purely for the paint job. The entire site is a bit strange. It's only the 1:72 scale range (most of the figurines are 1:30 and 1:32 scale) that comes at those exceptionally low prices, most of the other miniatures seems to start out at about 30£/model. Most of the stuff can't be added to your cart (all of those 1:72 models posted above for example) so it's unclear if they can actually be purchased. Glad we could clear that up.

Right. Cheers, lad. Is there any way to tell what line or option triggers a romance? It will be pretty obvious - the romance triggers in Deadfire aren't exactly subtle, and for a developer that previously criticized CRPG romances/said they shouldn't be implemented unless they can be done "right," Obsidian's romances are some of the most shallow and bare-bones I've ever played. That's not an indictment of Deadfire as a whole - it's a great game - but its qualities come more from excellent worldbuilding, lore, and combat than from companion character development. The companions have dialogue, will interject in conversations, each have a personal quest, and (some) offer a romance that plays out over 5-6 interactions or so. They're okay, but they're by no means a game-defining experience. I agree wholeheartedly, sir. I imagine this is why most developers steer clear of love and sexual tension in their games. It also makes me feel queasy about recommending such games to friends or family (what will they think of me?) although I must admit it can be a huge pro if it's done right (low titillation, intense emotion). Anyway, if everything else about PoE 2 holds true to the things that made its predecessor great I will consider buying it. What's wrong with titillation? =p

I clearly need to be educated, as I'm not as experienced as you guys are with these types of miniatures. I apologise for making a fool of myself. I decided to go searching on the internet for similarly-priced and -sized miniatures to the ones that Obsidian produced for the 240 Euro Deadfire collector's edition package. I found some interesting results: Did I learn well, or do I need to educate myself further? I only spent most of my childhood painting miniatures for myself, you see, so I'm not an expert! By popular request... ...and an ear + watercolours On an unrelated note, how do I tag people here? @username doesn't seem to work for some reason. Yay! Thanks for that one! -
I was actually going to post some sort of grumpy reply like: Yeah, the narrator is a speaker like any other character, the game would need to run a test against every line of dialogue to... blah... blah... and then I poked around the binary a bit. The game already does specifically test and handle narration differently. It really is just a single if/then and fancy button away from redirecting (almost) all calls for narration off to a null. The caveat is that there are still something like 100-200 pieces of dialogue which include narration, but are owned by a different speaker. Any time you come across something like: [sNARKY GOD]: "FI FI FO FUM, I SMELL A WATCHER... AND... VATNIR? SERIOUSLY. TAKE A BATH, DUDE." You swear his lips remained motionless, but the weight of the reverberating sarcasm brings you to your knees. that is all a single piece of text and single audio file owned by [GOD]. Splitting it apart would mean inserting a new dialogue node for just the narration and cutting the audio into two pieces. There's no easy coding fix to address those instances, and would require a moderate level of rework. But as I mentioned before, there is a relatively quick thing you can try. Just dig through your install to find: StreamingAssets/Audio/[platform]/Voices/English\(US\)/narrator Renaming/deleting that single directory will cut out any audio where only the narrator speaks. That accounts for something over 80% of her total lines. The mod on Nexus took a more complicated approach to achieve the same effect, but the audio subsystem is fairly resilient, and doesn't appear to get too upset when it simply can't find a piece of VO. What if I took out the offending global.bnk file (the one that messes up the combat sounds) and just used all the .wem files that the mod has? Would that work in the way you describe?

Technically you can, it's just sub-optimal because ranged weapons don't take advantage of carnage. If you went pure barbarian with Serafen you'd definitely want to use melee weapons or Melee/Blunderbuss or Melee/Pistol. Personally, it's probably best to run him as a Witch. If you use the new AI system, you won't need to micromanage as much. Actually, I think it can work. Carnage is almost worthless anyway. Rage is an excellent DPS ability.

You haven't read my post properly: 1) I never said it was ruining my game. I simply don't like the narration and would like the option of turning it off. 2) I never said it was an easy thing to fix, I actually ASKED IF IT WAS EASY OR NOT. Here's a reminder of what I wrote: You don't know how easy or hard it is to do. The devs do. That's why I would like a response from them.

I'm sure it's only women who use that word in the wrong way. Because we all know that only men are the masters of linguistics, right. I'm still in shock that women now have voting rights when they still can't speak properly, jeez... What's next? Employment laws for child labor? Pfff! He didn't say it was only women that use the word in the wrong way

unfortunately my phone cannot connect to PC for some reason, but they look similar to the painted ones, only striped of paint but, as I said, problem isnt in paintjob/details per se, but in realistic proportions of the minis (and lack of relative scale in posted pictures, so they seem at least two times bigger than they really are). For comparison, while the heads of my wh40k space marine and cadian shocktrooper figures have about 7 mm height, the head of Aloth have only 4 mm. wh40k figures are also overall much bulkier, but despite that, they keep the same total height of 28mm. Ofc molds for the PoE minis could be better, because robes and armor arent as detailed as they could even considering proportions, but faces are just too small to give them more detailed look. The miniatures are awful and any attempt to defend them is laughable at best. Some people just have money to burn I guess. have you ever seen 1:72 scale miniatures from above-mentioned companies, or at least took those "better" warhammer/d&d figures and compared their proportions with PoE minis before posting? The miniatures are awful and any attempt to defend them is laughable at best.

I just realised he was asking for stuff that happens specifically in Deadfire, and not carryovers from POE1. Reading comprehension ftw Sorry, perhaps I was a bit unclear ! I was in fact thinking of all carryover changes that come with Poe1 choices into Poe2 ! not the ones that you find in poe2 (as theres already a good thread about that one) : this is a good min/max guide for poe2: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/101300-guide-permanent-bonuses-approach-for-a-no-rest-run/ Oh! Ok then. In that case I think I covered all the bonuses.

I figured someone would mention the mod. It hasn't been updated, and I'm reluctant to use a mod that hasn't been kept up to date, and risk losing tens of hours of playtime to an unfixable bug caused by a mod. all it does is replace some sound files, it's not going to break your game any more than adding some portraits would From the Nexus: If the mod doesn't work, it's not of any use. So easy to implement that it has in fact already been implemented This is so obvious that it barely needs to be stated, but nevertheless: obviously I want a setting that turns off the narrator only, rather than ALL VOICES IN THE GAME.

I don't like the narrator's performance, I don't mean that as a slight on the voice actress but I just don't care for it. I know for a fact I'm not the only one who doesn't like it. It's understandable that the game would not release with an option to turn off the narrator, since this perhaps wasn't expected. However, we are now months past release and there is still not an option in the settings to mute the narration. I'm just wondering why? Is it too difficult to code this in as an option? Are the devs unwilling to give us this option? A response would be nice.
