I got my copy yesterday in the mail. I haven't played yet. Why?? Because the game is taking so long to install. I've been trying to install for about, oh, 16 hours at least between yesterday and today. Its like I was trying to use a single speed CD-ROM drive on a 286 to install, which I'm not. I've got a 1.8gHz AMD AthlonXP, 512MB RAM and over 50GB of hard drive space. This is insane.

KOTOR 2 has officially shipped (PC)
starkiller replied to Black Raven's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Where are you and where does it say it shipped from? Because amazon could be wrong about arrival time. I buy most of my DVDs through them. I always get the 4-7 day free shipping option (if your purchase is $25 or more). Their DVD warehouse is in Kentucky/Tennessee...I'm near Cleveland OH. I can order movies on a Sunday and have them by Tuesday, even though Amazon says I should expect delivery on Friday or later. -

On the one hand, I can be very restraining with myself. Stopping when I know I need to stop. (For example, if its 11:30PM, its time to stop and I won't allow myself to play anymore) On the other hand, once I start playing, what feels like a half hour may have actually been 3, 4, 5 or 6 hours. Same thing happened with KotOR, Warcraft 3, Warcraft 2, Star Wars Rebellion, Force Commander, Diablo, Diablo 2 and plenty of other games I've got. -
KOTOR 2 has officially shipped (PC)

Depending on shipping time, I could get mine tomorrow, but its more likely to arrive Thursday. That means I'll get maybe 4-5 hours of play in Thursday night, then maybe a couple hours on Friday before work. Then I'll probably have to wait until Monday to play anymore. -
Another possible reason for there being no rating is that I don't believe RPGVault is not normally used for reviewing software. Keep your eyes on pc.ign.com for a review w/rating.

What will you do when you get it?!!
starkiller replied to -Jinrai-'s topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What I do depends on the arrival: Arrival on/before Wednesday: I'll play constantly Wednesday and Thursday, only leaving my computer to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, and run 1 errand to the bank and a nearby card shop (MTG new set came on Friday). Arrival on/after Friday: I'll be ticked off for the next 5 days, because my work week is Friday through Tuesday. I'll end up with very limited playing time until the following Wednesday. -
To Obsidian and LucasArts
starkiller replied to Thelemecus Rhade's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You liked Star Trek: Insurrection??? ST: 2 and First Contact were by far the best, Generations and 3 were the best of the odd-numbered (3 only because it ties 2 and 4 together). I've been seeing, now, 3 dates used. Feb. 5th being mentioned here as the release date from Lucasarts. Feb. 8th at Amazon and other places. Feb. 10th in todays Best Buy ad. -
release date unrealistic?
starkiller replied to iamthelorax's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Probably. I hopes its a case where they ship early to make sure I get it BY the 8th, rather than ship on the 8th and I get it on the 11th or later. -

I'm actually getting kind of worried about this... I preordered direct from lucasarts. When I login to check on the status, the only order I see is KotOR 1 from 2003. -
??? If given the choice between a 4-disk version and a DVD version, I'll take the DVD version. I haven't even got a burner...for my computer (just bought a Toshiba DVR/DVD burner, but that neither here nor there).
-
Have a DVD-ROM Have no games on DVD. Would buy a DVD version of KotOR2 if it was offered since I have limited space, and a 4-disk jewel case would be larger than a DVD case.

This may sound like a shocking idea, but what if your main character wasn't force sensitive? Its possible to be a hero without Force Powers.

Which prestige class would you take?
starkiller replied to -Jinrai-'s topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
First person to ever pick that up. Actually, that image is something I used for a Star Wars online game I participate in. Its called the Star Wars Combine, and my character is a cybonetic Falleen (hence the greenish skin). Thought I'd also add I wish that the Exile could also have a non-Jedi class as well. I really enjoyed the Scoundrel/Guardian's Sneak Attack+Force Jump bonus. -

starkiller replied to -Jinrai-'s topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I beat KotOR I every way I wanted (see sig). I intend to do the same with KotOR II. I expect that I can beat it no matter what skills, feats, class and prestige class I pick. -
If you go to the main site and answer all the 'little-floating-bubble' questions in a dark-side manner, after a while, you'll be given a DS wallpaper (its at least 800x600) with whatever the name of that Darth with the mask is. If you answer all the questions in a light-side manner, you get the white-haired lady, Atria or whatever. (You can tell I'm not trying to spoil myself...)

new preview and videos at ign.com
starkiller replied to gstommylee's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'll bet the difference in dates between retailers and Lucasarts in so that people that order through Lucasarts will get the game by the 8th. -
I imagine that because I plan to order it through Lucasarts (yes, to get the free T-Shirt...just like the letter opener that came with KotOR and the bonus CD that came with Force Commander), it will arrive Friday or Saturday, at which point I will be working. It will probably not be until the following Wednesday that I will really be able to play it (it may get installed and I may play for an hour or 2 in the days before then).

KotOR2 PC Version Q&A at Gamespot
starkiller replied to funcroc's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Best news I've seen in quite a while. Its not easy to study up on a game without spoiling it at the same time, and the less time its there tempting me, the better. -
How about telling us a bit about it? Nice avatar, btw. Is he Darth Sion? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1. Here's something that used to be on the site: A LONG, LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY... It is a time of great turmoil and chaos. The mighty Star Destroyers of the Galactic Empire clash with the huge Mon Calamari starships of the Rebel fleet in breathtaking displays of firepower. The skies of the universe are seared with lasor bolts, terrifying explosions, and fearsome missile bursts. Starfighters weave between the gargantuan ships, dogfighting in head-to-head duels for survival. The Old Republic has been wiped out, destroyed in the name of a new galactic power. A wave of pure darkness has swept across the Galaxy, engulfing all that stands in its path. The unstoppable majesty of the Emperor and his loyal minions cast a deep shadow over all, crushing all who dare stand against them. Yet there is hope. A mismatched but dedicated band of guerilla freedom fighters, the Rebel Alliance, are all that stands between the Empire and domination of the universe. Different peoples, races, species, and nations have hastily bonded together in an attempt to overthrow the Emperor, and are rebelling against the mighty Imperial forces. As the two forces clash, tiny groups of pirates, smugglers, mercenaries, and traders go about their daily business, their minds too concentrated on staying alive another day to worry about the politics that the Imperials and Rebels do battle over. This is the Star Wars Combine, the ultimate Star Wars simulation game on the internet. You play against hundreds of other real people, through a downloaded game application. The Combine continues to swell with players, and grows stronger with every passing day. It is set in the time of the Star Wars movies; Mon Mothma, Darth Vader, and all the others never existed...it is up to you to become the hero this time. You must take your role in the ultimate battle between good and evil. Who will you stand up and be counted with? Will you succumb to the seduction of the Dark Side in its quest to bring order to the Galaxy? Will you rise up with the Rebel Alliance in its do-or-die struggle for freedom? Or will you align with the independent groups that colour the galaxy, living life by the skin of your teeth? Now, take your lightsaber, and enter the Star Wars Combine. The SWC contains: - over 50 playable races - over 100 usable ships and vehicles - over 4000 planets, some visible, some yet to be discovered - over 20000 players, although only about 10% actively play the game at this time 2. No, its not Sion. It is my SWC character. A cybornetic Falleen.

I've been coming by the Obsidian forums in search of KotOR2 news for quite a while, but I never felt the need to register until now. I see you talking about some of the various MMORPGs available out there, and I could pass up the chance to plug the one I participate in. The Star Wars Combine www.swcombine.com Its 100% free and being developed BY Star Wars fans. I've been a part of it for almost 6 years now. If you've got any questions, I can try to answer them fo you.
