Prestige Classes (Possible Spoilers)
starkiller replied to Darth Ni's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are points in the game where, if you have progressed enough, Kreia talks to you about specific things. What I would do is go through whatever she happens to be talking about now, and once you are finished, talk to her again. I'll bet its simply a matter of what sequence of dialogs gets priority. -
Because of the dialog-skip bug, where the audio stops and the screens are flashed by too quickly to be read, I have missed out on a great deal of the ending storyline. So, I was hoping, this being the Spoiler forum, someone could quickly sum up what happened. The trouble started on Korriban, my last planet, with the dialogs between the Exile and Sion. I have not yet finished the game, so I would prefer it if you didn't talk about the very ending (I am in the Academy on Malachor V). Based on my memory, the story background I would need is contained in the following dialog sequences. - Exile/ Sion on Korriban - Handmaiden/ Atris on Telos - Exile/ Atris on Telos - Exile/ Carth on Telos - Exile/ Nihilius on Ravager - Exile/ Visas just about everywhere - Kreia/ Sion on Malachor (I think they had a conversation) - Mira/ Hanharr on Malachor - Bao-Dur/ Remote on Malachor Thank you, in advance, for your help and a poke in the eye for the developers for this annoying bug (one of only a handful I've had to deal with personally).

A Real Gameplay Bug list (spoilers!)
starkiller replied to Lendorien's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Problem #??: I imagine I hit it in just the right way, but I was able to walk through a wall on Nar Shaddaa. It was in the 'Flophouse' area, I wanted from the room with the guy looking for his wife into the next room, and got stuck. The entry point was next to the storage bin, the side closest to the door I believe. Problem #??+1: You'll be seeing another thread started by me concerning this topic. Starting with the dialogs between and going through to as far as I am ( ), they skipped all audio and flew by before I could read them. This includes the following conversations (all spoiler-proof): The dialog skip also happened a couple times on the Hawk with T3, but it was not nearly as prevalent, nor as damaging to the overall storyline. -
Assuredly. I've been watching Star Wars movies longer than I can remember, and I'd be lying if I said that there wasn't part of me that thinks some of T3's lines were cut directly from the movies. Those lines sound identical, and I have a fairly good ear.

Easily Corrected Spelling Errors
starkiller replied to saintfrancisnudecenterfold's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Same was true of KotOR 1. I cannot think of any instances off the top of my head, but I know there were at least a couple. And they weren't things that a spell checker would miss (here vs. hear). -
My only trouble with swoop racing is the horrible control scheme. I played KotOR 1 using the keyboard exclusively. Space to shift and arrows to maneuver. Now, not only am I stuck using the mouse to maneuver and shift, but there is NO option to remap the keys for racing. Give me space for shifting and ALT for jumps and I'll fly the Alps in a plane with no windows. And this puts a major crimp in my monetary situation. I've hovered around 2000 credit the entire game.

Plenty of workbenches, and there's a full fledged one in your ship... Outside of your ship, even T3M4 can act as a workbench for upgrading (but not for creation). It really doesn't cost much in the way of components to build some of the nice upgrades, especially since you can break down the heavy armors for a goodly amount of components. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was at Iziz. There are no workbenches, only a lab station in the doctor's quarters. I had forgotten about T3, plus I actually thought that, since I wasn't getting back to Dxun, I couldn't switch party members. I found out later I could and by then, I was close enough to being done I didn't even bother. Besides, I was able to find a couple more upgrades at Iziz, and I put them all in at once. I now use my lightsaber, and I'll probably turn the blade into components.

Onderon Murder Investigation...missing man
starkiller replied to starkiller's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Thanks. I thought I had clicked each of those thugs, only to get the generic response. I guess I missed that one. -
your kidding right, I could do far, far more damage with my light saber crystal than with 2 melee weapons. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, let me check (since I'm at home): Lightsaber: 6-24 damage Vibrosword: 10-25 damage +1-6 criticals Now, I'll give you this...I've only got 1 upgrade in the lightsaber so far (a power cell I think). The Vibrosword has 3. If I could get to a work bench, I could add a Phond crystal, and that would change it.

I have encountered some trouble. Hopefully, its a glitch or I missed talking to someone, rather than I did something already in the game that screwed it up. I've talked to everyone several times, I know I need to find the missing droid head. But I've hit a wall. In desperation, I checked the GameBanshee walkthrough, and it mentioned some guy named Panar. It says he's in the room with the dancers and 5 thugs. But he's not there. I cannot seem to find him anywhere. Now I'm stuck. Thoughts?

I have to disagree about the length of time. In fact, I went from Peragus to Telos to Dxun and just arrived on Onderon. I got all the parts I needed on Telos and Dxun. Bao built it right before we left for Onderon. And more than that, I'm not even going to use it yet. The Vibrosword I've been using since I found it is dishing out far more damage with the upgrades I've found/made for it.

How Many Have gotten the game to work?
starkiller replied to Thomas-Meyer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Almost ditto. Haven't had soundless movies yet. Visiting my third planet (well, 4th if you consider Dxun and Onderon seperately). -
All during development, I expect he'd have a deeper voice...like the black Green Lantern on the newer Justice League cartoon (Phil LaMarr??). I know Phil didn't do the voice, but I expected something like that.

I don't believe that is entirely accurate. I have to check when I get home, but I thought I noticed that their response appears above the main screen. Normally, I don't look up there, since I prefer to read what they say as they say it, but if it skips... When I get home, I'll make sure, then perhaps I'll post some screenshots.

I encountered a few things that may need looking at: 1. When viewing one of the logs concerning the dormatories on Peragus, I noticed that as the people died via the poison gas, they would grab their throat, but not fall to the ground dead. Then, when the camera changed angle, I saw that there were 2 models in place for each person. 1 was the standard one, which I had just seen choking on the gas. The other was a curled up dead body. If there is supposed to be a transition from the standard to the dead, it wasn't done properly. 2. Its been brought up already, but I thought I'd also mention it. During an interaction with T3 on the Ebon Hawk, occassionally, T3's lines would be skipped. I'd go directly from my choosing a line, to my choosing a response to whatever he said, except I never heard it. I'd see the response above the viewing window, but a few beeps and boops don't mean much. 3. I had just used the and returning Atton and Kreia to my party, I left the Ithorian compound. In the transition between the 2 living facility maps, my computer locked up. After restarting, I performed the same operation, however, I did not return Atton and Kreia, and my PC did NOT lock up. So far those have been my only issues.

Your welcome. It was really a shot in the dark. Glad to help.

I also had this happen to be on the Hawk when talking to T3 only. I have not experienced it at any other time.

Its been said several times over at the Lucasarts forums: Try copying disks 2, 3 and 4 to your hard drive. If the transfer works, try installing off disk 1, then the HD for the other disks. I did this for my 4th attempt to install. It was done in 15 to 20 minutes and the game runs (so far) fine.
-
I don't know if this could be it, but its worth mentioning. It almost sounds like InstallShield is corrupted, not by any fault of KotOR2.
-
Just a thought: People with fix requests should post diagnostic data. It could help Obsidian find and fix the problem faster. I personally haven't experienced any troubles, so far. But then, I'm not very far into the game and I'm not running at a high resolution or anything like that.
-
The copy-disk-to-hard-drive method worked, and the install just flew by. And the game, so far, works flawlessly. Before stopping last night, I have just spoken to HK-50 for the first time.
-
Far easier said than done. I ordered direct from Lucasarts. ... Would I have to return the T-shirt?? If I still have trouble, I plan on returning...If I can keep the shirt. Then I'll get a copy at Best Buy/Target/whatever is close by.
-
I noticed those about 30 minutes ago or so. If this 3rd attempt does not work, I plan on trying that method. I thought about it while I was at home about 3-4 hours ago, but I didn't know if it would work. The system seems to look for specific disk names, so I wasn't sure it would be successful. But since Lucasarts suggests it, I can only hope it works. Thanks for mentioning it just the same.

I am still looking for help with this issue. If it helps determine my trouble, there are times where install stops, and I am given a message about a volume missing, or that "data %2 .cab on disk %3 cannot be found in drive %1". Thinking about it more, I would greatly appreciate it someone might be able to supply me a file that contains the name, location and size of all the files being installed on my computer. If something isn't being installed, or is not installing properly, that would certainly cause my problem.

This will now be the third time I've installed this game. The first time, ok, was my mistake. After re-inserting disk 1, nothing happened, so I cancelled setup. I was told Program not installed properly. I thought, alright, this is my fault. Fine. (This was yesterday after about 16 hours of waiting for the thing to install. I saw someone post about Notron giving him problems, so hopefully that explains the trouble.) Edit: I was, at this point, force to uninstall since there is no option to restore the installation program. But this time, there is no way its my fault. I installed COMPLETELY. The setup closed itself. AND IT STILL DIDN'T INSTALL PROPERLY. Edit: At this point, I needed to uninstall again, but to preserve as many files as I could, I renamed the main directory, so that the uninstall would be unable to find the files to remove them. I checked the directories. There were 2 subdirectories. Somehow, all the progress I made AFTER DISK 1 was gone!!!!! I'm now working on my third install. If this does not work, I WILL be returning the game. Whether its for a full-refund or not will be determined later.
