Voice Acting?
BLnoT replied to Dwarfare's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think voice acting is very hit or miss in a game. The affect of good voices to bad ones can make or break a game for me ( unless you have an option to keep it in text ) Adding on what ConconHead said about the character not sounding how she imagined them to. I found that it never bothered me so long as my main, chosen character, did not have a voice. He could remain the tough/soft/mean/kind person i wanted to be and my companians would be how they were designed/sound to be. -
Disappointed in Pledge rewards
BLnoT replied to Moogoo88's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I pledged just to get this game out to the public, or mainly to me. Betas, trinkets, are all bonuses we should be happy to receive for our contribution to the games development. Not why we should contribute. Unfortunitly money does make the world go around. -
Fallout 1 & 2 . I did not see any advertising/hype when i first came across PoE ( i had only discovered kickstarter that day ) All i saw was the name Chris Avellone. Knowing that name from F2 ( the most enojyable game and dare i say a game that shaped me into the man i am today ) I happily donated to try and get this game into fruition. I enjoyed BG1 aswell, but Fallout 1/2 is what made me a backer. Not to get confused with the newer fallout/s which i found very dissapointing, apart from the music ( I'm a grumpy young man living in the past ) In saying that any thought to a Fallout 3 based on Fallout 1/2 model?... *shrugs* Well, thought i'd ask A big round of applause to all the guys and gals at Obsidian, from what i have seen the game looks fantastic, and i relish the though of playing apon release.

Malta aswell

It doesn't bother me either way it's refered to. When talking about PoE i just say Pillers of Eternity. Written i profer PoE . For no reason other than an Odd number of letters seems more visually appealing added to the capital/lower case/capital. Again both ways are fine. Does anyone else think so, or am i just unusually insane ? ( compared to regualr insane -- . O )

I'd say he's already there, he might even have an edge in a few areas. Perlman is the voice of Fallout, which is huge. But Vin voiced two very good Riddick games, and is actually the founder of the studio. Perlman is the leader of a tough as nails biker gang on TV, Vin is the leader of a car racing gang in Fast and Furious. Perlman is Hellboy, Vin is Riddick. Both have comic books. Honestly it's a pretty close comparison. As awesome as Ron Perlman is, Vin has the edge - everyone knows who Vin Diesel is. I have to respectfully disagree with you. Vin Diesel has yet to go into the foreign film scene. A fantastic film i recomend to everyone, La Cite des Enfants Perdus ( The city of Lost Children ) Ron plays a 'slow' french muscle man. He speaks french throughout the entire film ( much more than afew lines by Vin Diesel in Los Bandoleros ) Now i Grant you Rons french isnt that good, but luckily it fits into the 'slow' muscle man character ^ . ^ As a European, I find interesting the notion interesting that people in Europe care any more about art films than in the US. The general audience in Europe is just as dumb as the general US audience - there is no "foreign film scene", there is the niche audience that watches art films which is the same everywhere. My point stays, everyone knows who Vin Diesel is and very few people know who Ron Perlman is (with the occassional "hey, it's that guy" or some geeks who knows he's under the red make-up in Hellboy). Don't get me wrong, Ron Perlman is a much cooler actor who can play practically everything whereas Vin Diesel is a mediocre actor who needs parts tailored to him, but the claim that Vin Diesel might get lucky and get into Ron Perlman territory? Ron Perlman wishes he was as famous and succesful as Vin Diesel - character actors like Perlman don't get much props whereas Vin Diesel was the leading man in how many franchises and blockbusters? I love Ron Perlman, but Vin Diesel is in a much better position. Plus, I'm detracting points for Dungeon Siege. I can see what you're saying, and i would agree. Vin is absolutely in a better position ( popularity wise ) than Ron pearlman. In no way better than Pearlman as an actor, buts it's often the way of the world isn't it. ( good guys finish last and all that ) =p { edit } I think i should cut back on the amount of quotes quoted....

Well, i was expecting to go away for 2 weeks ( work related ). I had my bags packed, papperwork sorted, all my 'tools of the trade' all set to go. However Unforseen events have occured so i am now back to my regular Saterday of doing nothing in particular at home. For 2 days, a week, i might not even be going away...

I know there have been a couple of posts on this, but i also saw Enders game recently ( well at least the first 20 min ) I felt It was missing so much meaning/emotion/understanding i had to stop after only 20 minutes, as i was verbally abuseing my screen. Which is never a good thing. I had always wanted a film to be made ever since i read Enders game as a child. I am serverly dissapointed. It is always a hard thing to adabt a book one enjoys into film. Enders game is the worst film adaption i have seen. Lord of the Rings did a decent job. In saying that i was not a fan of the Game of Thrones books ( i am not a fan of george R.R's writing style ) However i did enjoy the TV adaption. I guess you cant please everyone with anything.

Okay that is unusual, bacon and oats. I may try it some time..but I associate oats as something healthy and bacon as more of a treat and junk food. But maybe I can eat it as more for a special meal I have found its often the unusual sounding recipes that are most enjoyable. I will add to that by suggesting a Vegemite, cheese and apple sandwich ( I do think the taste may be catered more so to the Australian market as i hear alot of other countries arent too keen on vegemite ) If however you enjoy the taste of vegemite, 2 slices of thick bread ( fresh baked would be best ) some nice full butter, generous amounts of vegemite ( or as much as you can handle ) Cheese ( Block, i tend to just use tasty as im poor ). Last but not least Apple ( fresh and crispy ) Side note. Cut the cheese 3/4 the thickness of your apple slices. I find it gives the best texture of crunch / firmness of the Apple and cheese respectively. It may seem OCD for a simple sandwich, however im sure food enthusiasts and fellow Chefs would agree Appearance and Texture play a vital part in any meal. As for my dinner tonight. I had a; Cup if instant chicken noodle soup Tin of tuna ( Last of ) Row of white chocolate ( Last of ) Can of Dr Pepper ( Last of ) Block of ice from the icetray ( 1 of 12 ) As you can see i didn't really have anything in the fridge, so my option were severely limited ( to just that )

In the wise words of Mr Fry. Valentines day ? Oh, crap i forgot to get a girlfriend again

I had thought about omikron as soon as i had posted. To be honest i dont know anyone who remembers that game bar me. A small intro, but i had always loved the dialog/ voice acting. Not really a great intro, i just wanted an excuse to insert my most enjoyable extremity removal game.
-
These are intro's not cutscenes, so hopefully they still apply. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMddvzVtpaI I up you to Dunegeon Keeper 2's intro TrueNeutral. I also enjoy its cutscenes. Septerra Core is i think my second choice No Competition for the greatest Intro since 98. I don't think any intro will ever be as good as Fallout 2 for me.

I didn't think you got Appletiser outside South Africa, I assume its imported? I love Appletiser but I prefer Red Grapetiser, its so refreshing Appletiser is very easy to get down here as are red/green Grapetisers. Both very enjoyable aswell. The drink that is hardest to get is Dr Pepper. Although we now have a err whats it called.. costco i think. Open up recently in one of our cities. I really disliked the store, BUT Dr Pepper costs the same as a normal can of soft drink there! Normally i would have to pay $1.80 per can.

I was perusing my way around the forums when something occured to me. Years ago, when i was in highschool. I remember being on a rpg type forum. It was just a normal forum, random chatting / discussions / debates but also had a creative writing/ self done text roleplaying aspect. You would get gold/exp for posts made/created etc. With that gold/exp you could buy things and dandy up a character which was your avatar. I remember enjoying it at the time and think i might enjoy it again. Has anyone else been to those types of forums? Did you enjoy them? Would you think it might be a good idea to have something like that on this forum? It seems a great way to engage users together.

Tonight i am having. Starter: Chicken Noodle Soup w/ bacon and cheese bread Main : Chinese BBQ Beef w/ Rice Dessert : a Row of white chocolate and an iceblock!! Washing it all down with some Appletiser.

I saw Dogville recently. A very unusual film. I didnt mind it to be honest but it is definitly a film that alot of people wont like. Its a very dark / miserable film, set out like a stage play. It was something different which i enjoyed, but again it's not for everyone.

I am just about to start The Soilder Son saga by Robin Hobb. She has afew other saga's: The Farseer Trilogy ( Amazing! ) The Liveship Traders ( Pritty good ) The Tawny Man ( Amazing! ) They all interlock with eachother, and are a fantasic set of books to read. The Soilder Son is her fourth saga ( which doesnt seem to interlock with the others ) so we'll see how it goes. I also seem to have lost half my Magician series by Raymond E. Feist. So i had to order 9 more books > . <

The Heros you will roll
BLnoT replied to Fatback's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am normally always a ranger/rogue but i think i'll do things differently of PoE. I am leaning towards a wizard, possibly Godlike or Orlan. 2nd playthrough will be determined by how i felt on the first run.
