  1. The paladin can cast Withdraw on himself from scrolls and yes it works... You can cast it and it will keep proccing but they won't stick around. I guess I should be more specific with what I said. Maker's Own Power(unique) works great with this build though. It petrifies and heals you but doesn't make you untargetable. Nemnok's cloak, on the other hand, doesn't work with empowered SI since it will most likely kill you before you ever reach 25% hp. Scratch that. The petrify costs you too much time after that.
  2. Withdraw doesn't work with immolate. You can equip the cloak you get from nemnok to keep yourself alive or if you multi as a priest, cast bar from death prior to using immolate.
  3. Yes. You need to ensure there's sufficient distance between the spot you are running away to and the spot they reset to. Rogues have a teleporting spell with inbuilt invis so it's really easy to cheese like that. Pure assassin/rogue is just so cheesy lol. Wait till you hit PL 8 and 9, ultimate cheese fest.
  4. was it worth it though? Did you wipe out the screen? Makes me wonder if I should try that on my fourth play through. A suicidal paladin that just immolates himself and uses uniques and abilities to keep himself alive
  5. Anyone knows how crits on spells are calculated and how do you increase the chances of them happening?
  6. For boss killing to be honest, some things just won't die in one opening backstab. Unless of course you out level the dude a lot. Only time I found it useful in a solo run was against nemnok. I was level 14 then so I still didn't have Gambit to spam on him.
  7. Just so people know: rogues have an essentially free PL8 skill that does 160% crit damage, +10 acc, +80(so far) crit chance, full attack as long as you dual wield and spam it while you have high resource points. It's called Gambit
  8. Just posting it here so it can get some attention since I'm not sure if this should be a bug or not. Because of the way full attacks work with dual wield, aka they perform two instances of that skill for each weapon instantly, gambit (rogue) PL8 ability refunds its full cost permanently as long as you have enough rogue resource points. The way it works is that each instance of crit of gambit refunds 2 rogue points, the skill itself costs four so as long as both hits crit, you get your 4 points back. The ability gives 10% crit chance per rogue resource point you have and 20% crit dmg per point as well. Essentially rogues have a 80% crit, +160% crit dmg, +10 acc, interrupt on hit, full attack. I can't test this out on whispers of endless path because of the bugged import system.
  9. warbow, grab it from the nemnok quest line. High level assassins have a skill that basically 100% crits so I'm gonna test it out real soon.
  10. The more I play, the more I realize how horrible the starting island is...and that chill fog has to be single most powerful ability in the game.
  11. To be honest, I don't find torment's reach to be a good aoe, a good aoe cc for sure, but not a good aoe dps skill. The damage itself is abysmal since only the bonus dmg splashes and not your actual attack damage. Plus, mobs tend to encircle you during solo fights.
  12. The new system honestly feels great to me. It forces you to choose your spells and ensure that every level isn't a throwaway spell. Just remember, one empower also gives one more spell use to each level. This is the no spoiler section so I won't tell you where but certain spellbooks have unique spells in them. You can't learn those versions so you can only use them by equipping that grimoire, one of them is particularly powerful albeit annoying to obtain. Plus, per rest spells were just cancerous, thank god they abandoned that system. In BG2, you had a crap ton of slots so that's fine but in POE1, I honestly didn't want to waste a rest just to restore my wizard's spells. My advice is get to PL7+ for wizard and then you will start to realize that you actually have a lot of spells to play with.
  13. To be fair, that big city is pretty much the entire game's quest hub. Also, this must be the twentieth time I've taken this walk of shame...feelswatcherman
  14. I'm just wondering if the guy who claimed that PL7 sneak+empower wizard can outdamage a PL9 meteor empowered, is saying that the spell can actually one hit ko the last boss on ukaizo because that's what a PL9 can do
  15. Using sabers and fist as a backup. Right now I'm using Grave Calling and a superb saber as my weapons since they are easily available. As for my armor, I'm using Devil of Caroc Breastplate for the minus recovery, + power slots and resistances to affliction enchantments. Amulet is Orishia. Grab it and you will know why it's so sweet. As for my abilities, I went with dual weapon style, weapon specialization, mob stance, mule kick (for accuracy and bonus damage for 1 power point), disciplined strikes, confident aim, fearless. Planning to get refreshing defense and the other skill that lets me heal off damage. Armored grace might be a bit much so I might replace it for conqueror stance. For monk abilities, lesser wounds, lightning strikes and raised torrent, duality and root of pain. Planning to get the upgraded dance of death soon. Stats: Max MIG, Max Perception, 17 dex, 9 int, 3 res, 10 con. Don't pay too much attention to the 9 int and 17 dex, I just used that on a whim.
  16. Trying out my second potd solo run now with a devoted/shattered pillar. As of right now at level 13, everything has been melting and is a whole lot smoother than my solo wiz run. Honestly, it's a boring build with nothing flashy but it has great passive buffs, constant cc with torment reach and mule strike, and the potential to go full tank build with inner wheel/defender stance with refreshing defense.
  17. 3 con is rather punishing but 3 resolve is just fine. Even stacked up on wizard buffs, a non scaled skeleton still hits me at 10+ levels. Also, does soul annihilation crit?
  18. I don't know about you guys, but my high level single class wizard just melted everything with one empowered aoe spell. Same with the last boss, the only difference was that it took 2 spells, for reasons... Max might, 3 Res and even split between perception and intelligence. As for passives, I went with anything that boosted my empowered damage spells. Also, I swear everything in this game hits you no matter what. Deflection is just so bad now... For the record, I used empowered wilting wind to clear the weaker bosses and empowered meteor for stronger ones. (I forgot the exact name of the last tier spell but you really can't miss it). Btw, does soul annihilation crit?
  19. For a game about chasing a god trying to destroy reincarnation, the ending seems to talk very little about the effects of such a decision. In fact, it almost seemed like you could shoehorned in any plot device and the ending honestly wouldn't change much. The decision about what to do with Eothas's somehow ended up being more prominent than the fact that given time, the world will end. Also, for all that hype about the Ukaizo, that had to be the shortest dungeon crawl ever...literally just three areas you can traverse in under a minute. Other than the first boss fight, everything else was just a breeze walk. Even thinking about the choices took more time than killing whoever I didn't ally with on the island.
  20. Single class wizard seems pretty strong to me on potd solo, one empowered wilting wind and the room goes boom. Fighting a dragon? No problem, throw a Crushing Doom and watch the dragon kneel throughout the fight!
  21. I received a quest A Cordial Invitation at Arkemyr's manor but he isn't in his study as stated. Bernake's research turned in beforehand. Also, I'm stuck at the point where you pass the perception and survival check in the old city overlook but when I click dive into the pool, the game merely centers the screen onto the pool. The phantom spells for wizard do not seem to be working properly for me. They are unarmed and the higher leveled version doesn't seem to have any spells at all last time I used it.
