  1. advertisement. Still, since it's a clever little advertisement, I'll lock it rather than delete it.
  2. It was a touching tale of true love, but it had to go. Alas, we may now weep anew for the loss of love.
  3. Reveilled gave such a good explanation of my thoughts that I'll just voice my agreement with his statement.
  4. Okay, specifics, the level where Cat dies in American McGee's Alice. The first time the party sees the Great Tree in IWD. The music for Freehaven in Might and Magic VI. If I had to choose individual songs from the three titles, those would be my favorite from each. If I had to choose just one of the three, I'd give the Freehaven music the nod. Luckily, I make my own rules, so I'm going to say Alice, IWD, and Might and Magic VI.
  5. I know you want to stick a shiv in him and take his crown, pixies. I figure that you, Mus?, and Baley must all spend all your time standing with your backs to the wall, looking over your shoulders, and trying to convince others to try your food before you eat it.
  6. Even so, we still play American football by foot, even if not primarily. Yes, I think Vol's definition is particularly broad. I think it's broad for a purpose, and that purpose was fulfilled. Still, there's something to be said for Vol's definition. Perhaps more than he originally intended to be said. In one way or another, an RPG must be related to playing a role. The specifics are the source of argument here.
  7. Why have someone else give you a definition in the first place? The original poster asked that we define it for ourselves. I define it broadly based on long standing consensus.
  8. Might and Magic VI, Alice, IWD
  9. Come Dancing -- Kinks They put a parking lot on a piece of land When the supermarket used to stand. Before that they put up a bowling alley On the site that used to be the local palais. That's where the big bands used to come and play. My sister went there on a Saturday. Come dancing, All her boyfriends used to come and call. Why not come dancing, it's only natural? Another Saturday, another date. She would be ready but she's always make them wait. In the hallway, in anticipation, He didn't know the night would end up in frustration. He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek. Come dancing, That's how they did it when I was just a kid, And when they said come dancing, My sister always did. My sister should have come in a midnight, And my mom would always sit up and wait. It always ended up in a big row When my sister used to get home late. Out of my window I can see them in the moonlight, Two silhouettes saying goodnight by the garden gate. The day they knocked down the palais My sister stood and cried. The day they knocked down the palais Part of my childhood died, just died. Now I'm grown up and playing in a band, And there's a car park where the palais used to stand. My sister's married and she lives on an estate. Her daughters go out, now it's her turn to wait. She knows they get away with things she never could, But if I asked her I wonder if she would, Come dancing, Come on sister, have yourself a ball. Don't be afraid to come dancing, It's only natural. Come dancing, Just like the palais on a Saturday. And all her friends will come dancing Where the big bands used to play.
  10. Here comes the hotstepper -- Ini Kamoze
  11. The police force and the military are trained for different things. The military, regardless of what folks might think, is not a very effective police force. This is particularly true in the United States. The police are much better at dealing with the civilian population.
  12. The word means what it means by common consensus. I trust that consensus more than any individual in this thread. The Might and Magic series is a role-playing game. I respect that some folks want to put forward a particular vision of the role-playing game. As Gromnir says, this sort of endeavor is largely pointless. I don
  13. Stop ignoring me, dammit. It hurts my feelings! Oh, hell, and I think it's funny to try your luck at Google for any reason. ...And Bush talks funny too!
  14. *Speaks slowly* You created the original post, Commissar. So, you are the original poster for this thread. *Looks to see if Commissar understood*
  15. You know, my assessments are not uniform. I've been trying to figure out how I could tidy up the reports so that they all hold to the same standard. Maybe I should create a new topic that has nothing but evaluations in it. It could be for nothing other than evaluations. Plus, folks can ask for specific people to do TOMBS reports. I don't think anyone had the intention that I would be the only one submitting reports. The way I see it, there might be multiple reports for each person. Okay is this a case of the solution being worse than the sickness? Does this sound like a plan?
  16. The original poster, Commissar. ...But it occurs that the statement is true for you also, Deraldin. :D
  17. Eldar makes his own rules! Look, I considered one very important fact: a range of 1-5 is way too limiting. I envisioned 1-5 as describing the normal level for a human being. 6-7 describe a truly super human effort, thus Baley MUST get a score of 7 in spam. No actual human being could possibly spam as much as Baley does. level 8-10 would reflect something akin to, or even surpassing, godhood. Likewise, sometimes a person is defined just as much by what they don't as what they do. For that reason, a negative 1-0 shows a super human ability to avoid an activity. negative 2-5 shows a godlike ability to cause an activity to cease in your presence. I hope I've clarified my particular system which, I will remind you, fits in the pre-existing system quite well. The range is greater, but only serves to add greater granularity to the descriptions. Plus, I like pandering to the big markets! heh heh heh
  18. Hey, I leave and come back and read your message Commissar. doofus. Ha, but Vol's been giving you guys hell in the meantime, so I'm happy anyhow.
  19. They hadn't invented the internet when you were born? Nay, they hadn't invented the earth when you were born.
  20. Okay, luckily no one complained about this particular thread because, if they did: Oddly enough, this one line in the forum guidelines is serious stuff. This is the sort of thing that will get you a warning, which would suck for me to have to issue. As for alternate accounts, GM doesn't seem to care, and so I don't care. To be honest, I might have an alt account. I might have two. So, Kirottu's Teddybear wouldn't matter to me in the long run. ...But the Vis account would. So, here's the deal, Ender, go stand in a corner and berate yourself for twenty minutes. I'm due to meet with someone today and don't have time. Everyone else who derived enjoyment from the thread, you are sentenced to ten minutes of community work on the Obz fora. You must spend the next ten minutes picking up old candy wrappers and other trash and disposing of them. The folks who were good and neither impersonated another member nor enjoyed the joke, you are allowed a full hour of self satisfaction. Enjoy. The rest of yer scurvy lot, get movin'! There ain't nothin' ta see 'ere.
  21. I dunno. Bush must bear a lot of the blame. That's what being President does, makes you responsible for the failings that occur during your administration. Are folks coming out of the woodwork to make unreasonable claims against the administration? Of course. That doesn't change the fact that you don't take the job unless you can handle the heat. Bush will manage to escape a lot of the heat over the long term for a couple of reasons. First of all, he's great at getting out of these sorts of fixes. I didn't think he had a chance of winning re-election when it became clear that either there were no WMDs in Iraq or they were so well hidden we might never find them. The other reason he'll escape blame is simple... this isn't a problem the Bush administration made. The levies were in disrepair for years. The congress decides the budget. The state and local governments have just as much (and I think more) responsibility for the State of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans. Yes, Bush made mistakes, but I think the Democrats are going to make a fatal flaw. They'll press their case too strongly. Already, the Dems are creating sympathy for the President by making stupid claims such as, "the war in Iraq is one of the reasons the levies were in disrepair" or, "President Bush is clearly racist because most of the victims were black." Absolutely shameless. So, Let the President take the heat. It
  22. No, kumquat. You're a chimp with bad typing.
  23. A sort of Homecoming -- U2 And you know it's time to go Through the sleet and driving snow Across the fields of mourning Light in the distance And you hunger for the time Time to heal, desire, time And your earth moves beneath Your own dream landscape Oh, oh, oh... On borderland we run... I'll be there I'll be there... Tonight A high road A high road out from here The city walls are all pulled down The dust, a smoke screen all around See faces ploughed like fields that once Gave no resistance And we live by the side of the road On the side of a hill As the valley explode Dislocated, suffocated The land grows weary of its own Oh, oh, oh...on borderland we run... And still we run We run and don't look back I'll be there I'll be there Tonight Tonight I'll be there tonight...I believe I'll be there...somehow I'll be there...tonight Tonight The wind will crack in winter time This bomb-blast lightning waltz No spoken words, just a scream... Tonight we'll build a bridge Across the sea and land See the sky, the burning rain She will die and live again Tonight And your heart beats so slow Through the rain and fallen snow Across the fields of mourning Light's in the distance Oh don't sorrow, no don't weep For tonight, at last I am coming home I am coming home
  24. So do I, Phantom. I tend to sing to my wife a lot and I make lyrics up on the spot. Of course, some are better than others. heh heh.
