  1. Here's a link to a current discussion regarding KotOR 3: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=36215 Since the game has not been announced, this discussion really doesn't belong in Obsidian at any rate. Read and enjoy. Discuss and debate by following the link above.

  3. A pack a day? Good God. I've known folks who could smoke a pack a day and still run like hell all day long. I don't know how they did it, but they did. When it comes to the personally harmful aspects of smoking marijuana, I think the case for criminalization becomes particularly shaky. After all, society accepts all sorts of things that are personally harmful. ...And that's how it should be! If we give in on marijuana, they might not come after computer gaming next, but Wals has a point when it comes to the slippery slope idea. Already we have some uptight swine-hearted wretches in the government, local, state, and fed, who seek to put punitive taxes on fast food. Wals is right, even if it isn't exactly the same thing, to cite the cases against software developers and publishers. I agree that we have to draw the line somewhere, but the line we have now doesn't make any sense. No matter what, I don't want the government telling me that, for my sake, it's taking away my rights.
  4. Remember what happened to the last "edit the post" topic...
  5. Fixed! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You tell 'em, ol' timer!
  6. She Will Be Loved --- Maroon 5
  7. Hey, I might be there. In fact, if you guys are definitely going to be there, I'll truncate my DS2 game. It's not like we didn't play several hours today.
  8. The World I know -- Collective Soul "Has our conscience shown? Has the sweet breeze blown? Has all kindness gone? Hope still lingers on I drink myself of newfound pity Sitting alone in New York City And I don't know why, I don't know why 1-So I walk upon high And I step to the edge To see my world below And I laugh at myself While the tears roll down 'Cause it's the world I know It's the world I know" Are we listening? To hymns of offering? Have we eyes to see? Love that's gathering? All the words that I've been reading Have now started the act of bleeding Into one, into one (repeat 1, 1)
  9. There is a thread for this in computer/console. Since I'm lazy, I'll let the CnC guys mod that thread and close this one. Anyhow, it looks like there is some information in that thread. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=36955
  10. I believe you, Magnum, but I also think that there is an RPGer in every "twitch gamer." KotOR, for all the complaints I've ever heard, is a great transition from action RPGs to an RPG experience that focuses on writing, plot, and role playing. We aren't the only ones who love a good RPG experience. ...But the way to convince Diablo 2 players to try a slower paced game isn't to insult them.
  11. We'll see. I'd like to see an extended session of VtM. I'll pop in tomorrow to see what's happening.
  12. So, does that mean we're playing tomorrow? I've got a friend asking to come down to play DS2 tomorrow.
  13. It may, perhaps, have been more effective for Rhomal to type, "Don't make RPGs like Diablo." or even, "Don't make NWN2 like Diablo." rather than this weirdly unfocused ramble that seems to bounce randomly between taste-aggrandizement, strangly misplaced blame, questionable understanding of scale and context and selective RPG history while having a title that is at best tangentially related to this cryptothesis you've outlined. Of course, I haven't been to the Bio boards so I have no idea what baroque style one must use to communicate there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sometimes I think you're absolutely vicious. On the other hand, I think Rhomal completely missed the mark on this one. Folks should spend more time trying to make their own preferences more appealing than trying to convince others that their interests suck. We could try to bring more so-called "twitch gamers" into the RPG fold, but I don't think the core RPG players really want their hobby to be popular. If the unwashed masses start to play, then where will their elitism be? Unless it involves something truly perverse, I don't think individual interests should be the target of scorn or ridicule. For example: I think tv sucks. ...But I don't assume the worst about someone because he happens to enjoy tv. I think he might have bad taste, but that's as far as I can go without coming dangerously close to showing my own shortcomings. Of course, I'm biased. I enjoy RPGs more than any other genre, but I'm an avid FPS gamer, and I'll play a good action RPG with the best of them. Dungeon Siege 2 has been fun, although I preferred the first game.
  14. Uru was a boondogle if I've ever seen one. They should have stuck with true adventure games. Of course, had it succeeded, it would have revolutionized the industry, I suppose. Is it better to have tried and failed, or to have never tried at all?
  15. You will, once they start imposing conservative moral beliefs and right wing propaganda into every article and review they publish. Have you ever watched Fox News? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't be silly, folks. Fox will want to turn a profit. Sure, the news might be biased, but the company is in business to make money, and they'll do what it takes to make money. Folks thinking that it will make games more "conservative" are just pushing the usual left leaning panic button. Newscorp own Dish Network, also. It's not like they've refused to show CNN. Remember, the Simpsons used to be considered almost subversive by a lot of folks, and yet it's been a Fox show since day one. In fact, Fox shows all those terrible reality programs. Now, if that doesn't prove they're not bound by a so-called "conservative" view of human decency, then I don't know what does. Face it, this is just another example of folks taking a view because the company in question is Fox. If anyone is prejudiced around here, it's our left leaning friends who see every investment Fox makes as a personal affront. Get a grip, folks, I doubt if you see any difference except for better funding.
  16. SAILING Words and music by Christopher Cros It's not far down to paradise At least it's not for me And if the wind is right you can sail away And find tranquility The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me It's not far to never never land No reason to pretend And if the wind is right you can find the joy Of innocence again The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me Sailing Takes me away To where I've always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free Fantasy It gets the best of me When I'm sailing All caught up in the reverie Every word is a symphony Won't you believe me It's not far back to sanity At least it's not for me And when the wind is right you can sail away And find serenity The canvas can do miracles Just you wait and see Believe me
  17. Yeah, it was a movie review site. I was wondering if you were a bot for a sec, but it looks like a legitimate question. So, yes, I couldn't find game mods on the site you cited. No game mods in sight.
  18. I've been thinking of picking up an ipod for some time. I just haven't had the chance or any true motivation. Thanks for the heads up, Kumquat.
  19. Don't revel in another's torment, no matter how you feel about him. For your sake. Feel glad in your victories, don't revel in another's defeat, no matter how you feel about him. For your sake. Defeat your enemy by making him your friend. For his sake, and for your own.
  20. Ender, you just scare me sometimes, buddy. As far as the low level flame fest, behave. Everyone is welcome here, oldies, newbies, and inbetweenbies. However, the community, like all other communities, will draw together to protect one of its own. I've never seen Mus? truly flame someone, so I'm wondering why anyone would like to flame him. Please, stay. Enjoy the debate. Engage others in conversation or even heated debate. ...But remember, I've already got my hands full with my numbered friend. I don't need another hot head in WoT.
  21. Umm, I was going to lock this topic, but I think I'll just merge it into the Wild Card thread. They're both spam topics at this point. Hey, if I want my own threads to look beefier, I can just merge other threads into them! bwahahaha. Ahem, at any rate, isn't Servant silly? I think I'll just point and laugh at him! *Points at Servant of Eru* Hahahahahaha
  22. I just posted a new topic without the error message.
  23. "We'll fight the water there, so we don't have to fight it here." Classic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hahaha. That one is quite funny.
  24. You might not always feel like a gentleman, but always act like one.
  25. I shudder, but we'll see. :Eldar's sitting with his face in his hands icon:
