Wow. Tough crowd. Anyhow, I did the first half of Sawyer's report. I actually posted it but I thought it was really heavy. Now, that's not really a problem, but it was supposed to be funny also. The funny part just fell flat. It involved a mock trial before the gods of TOMBS, but it really did sound like I was putting Sawyer on trial. I might repost it later and take advice on what I can do with it. Let me take a look at it first and then I'll throw it out there and it can be a somewhat collaborative effort. At the very least, I'm willing to listen to advice on these matters, even if I'm not always ready to take it.

For some reason I thought this was quite funny. Of course, the Don is right. That's my problem. There's so much bias it's hard to trust the reviews. That's also why message boards are better. You can call the guy for bias. You can even have a discussion with him. In either case, you can cut through the politics and find out about the game.

How about when will Duke Nuken forever be released ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hahaha This was funny. He'd say something like, "at the same time as the Apocalypse."

What the hell? *that's not what I'd say to God, by the way*

Okay, I enjoy the feeling the exploration and freedom in developing my character. The only problem is that Morrowind was so open ended it lacked any cohesion. It was just this large land mass inhabited by a swarm of flying bird/dinosaurs who attacked me at every step. Some folks suggest that the most enlightened players (whatever the hell that means) enjoy something completely open. Whatever. I just want a fun game that provides the story for me, and that doesn't mean wandering around looking for it. The graphics were beautiful by and large. I enjoyed the look, but that doesn't mean I'm enslaved by good graphics. I like something that looks good, but great gameplay can make up the difference in a pinch. The combat wasn't all that great, but I appreciate the idea of having a specific story to follow and something to accomplish. I thought magic was uninspired and so I'm hoping for a better system. On the other hand, I don't mind relying on the sword for combat if I can use the spell to supplement my endeavors. While other folks hated the tomes and books, I didn't mind them. The dialogue was overall uninspired, but not nearly so bad as some folks suggest. The real problem is that the dialogue was like the world, all over the place. *shrug* I would like better quests than what I found in Morrowind, but mostly I'd just like more of them. The quests weren't so terrible but for the vast distances they forced me to travel and their random, aimless nature. That's all I can think of right now. Some of what I've read helps me with these issues, but I'm still listening. Except for a moment's irritation, I'd probably just spook this thread. I am quite interested, however. I'm considering buying this game before the end of the week.

Okay, okay, no one's going to burn. Maybe a little singed, but nooo burning.

I'm thinking of getting this game, but I'd like to hear from folks who've actually played the game rather than folks who've read someone else's review. ...And that's double for folks who haven't played or even read a review. Because this is Bethesda, we'll hear the axe grinders who've never even considered buying the game in the first place. Also, is the game out on PC yet?

Let's wait for a couple hundred years and see if the classics from bygone days, of any genre, are actually dead and replaced by the mass of music created in this age. There are tons of great songs in our age, but folks will play Bach when the vast majority of today's songs are long forgotten.

Well said, my Jedi friend, well said. Let's show those heretics what Christianity is all about, by applying principles of intelligent and rational thought! To arms, my Brothers! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let's try that again. It seems to me that you're awefully quick to resort to sarcasm, Llyr. Of course, in a mind that small, you have little room to talk. The first person I saw going to arms in this thread was you. The next was your sycophantic friend, Nick.

Please don't get this thread axed until I do my Sawyer report. I'm working on it right now.

That's interesting, Nartwak. I'm a bit leery of downloading it, but it certainly catches my eye.

Awesome! Like.... totally awesome. Like, my numbered friend did such a good report, he's one for himself. Only, I'm too nice, so why don't one of you monkies do one for him? :Eldar's shifty-eyed grin icon:

I'm playing another run of Half-Life 2. Some time after the fact, I can safely say that it is the best FPS of recent years. doom 3 is a decent game, but not great. Hell, Painkiller is probably my second favorite.

Not yours alone, though. I don't watch much television, but I had two room-mates during the TNG years. They absolutely loathed Wesley Crusher. I never saw him in the series. However, I think the red haired doctor was his mother and I thought she was a little hottie. I have yet to pick up the Firefly series on DVD, but I'm edging closer to it.

For TOMBS to live we need do two simple things: 1) hand out points to other members and, more importantly, 2) write reviews. After a bit of rest, I'm game to write another review to help get things started. Anyone feel like a report? Actually, I'll report on Sawyer. heh heh heh I'm brave enough to roast Sawyer, and he's sure as hell a regular at the bar here, but I'm still not up to taking on Gromnir.

I'll make the unpopular statement of saying I'd love to see another IWD. I have good memories of them. However, I'm happier to see something new and edgy from Obsidian. I don't think we'll get that either. hahaha What I do expect, however, is a solid gaming experience. What I can reasonably hope to find is something great even if it uses an old license and never quite makes it to edgy. Obsidian is a company trying to make money making games. If the games make me happy, then I'll buy them and help make Obsidian make the money they want to make.

Good review, Llyr.

I'm not always keen on super realistic games. On the other hand, I can see some potential in this release. I'll be looking to see what you board monkies have to say on the subject.

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
Cantousent replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
No no, I didn't take any offense whatsoever. Thanks for the link, SP. I really do prefer small squads rather than huge, prawling battles. -

Yes, Gabs, I didn't want to start a new thread if one already existed. I didn't want to write a long review, just a quick thought. -
Kind of a scary looking fellow, eh? :D

Yes, I truly loath this game. It's random, confusing, and boring. Someone asked me to buy the game so I could play with them, which I'v done, but I don't see myself playing the game otherwise. Even multiplayer, the maps are huge with the same tedious objectives. Ugh. Now, something like RtCW, with it's small teams and varied objectives is much, much, MUCH better. In Bordomfront 2, you run around a huge map, stopping every now and then to stand on top of a glowing point in the floor. Do it often enough, and you've won. In RtCW, you are forced to blow a hole in the fortress wall, fight your way to the secret documents, run them to the transmitter, and all within a limited amount of time. I think RtCW is my favorite game. It's more forgiving than some of the super realistic titles, but it's rooted in World War II. I don't know if Battlefield 2 is like Battlefront 2, but these huge battles just aren't very fun to me. Add the weird weapons and idiotic species and droids and the game is a complete joke. Sure, it's cool to get to play a Jedi every now and then, but over I thought some of the older Star Wars FPSs surpasseed Battlecrap in virtually every way. -
You doofus. You'd best just bring back pictures of your vacation. ...And don't be shy. ...And some of those picture had better show you smiting some ATC and other such bad guys or you'll be off topic. :Eldar's **** eating grin icon:
