Where the hell do you find folks to take care of the services you need? I mean, comeon, there has to be problem with finding enough people willing to drive from outside of the area to do the work. They still need policemen, garbagemen, and all sorts of other folks to provide services in the community. Don't they?

Oh. Well, I've plumbed my knowledge. I was only talking straight numbers. It's all a bit like voodoo to me, but the results are usually not terribly different than the polls would sugget, so someone must know what they're doing. Of course, I took the UK poll as a net positive, even thought there were some disturbing bits in it.

I used the term from the article, Enoch. I didn't coin the term myself. ...And I'm talking about the 15,000+ homes.

Yeah, and those houses are more expensive than they were a few years ago. In the city of LA, they couldn't possibly afford what they have now, let alone the county. I have a friend who works for AMD. We went to look at houses up in Milpitas CA about 5 years ago. There was a house, 1,165 sqft that was selling for 410,000 bucks. Prices are even higher now. It's nuts. ...But the question isn't 1,165 or 4,000 sqft. The question is 17,000 sqft.

I've got only cursory knowledge of polls, but it is valid to say that the only polls I have seen used a tiny slice of the population. That's just a statement of fact. I know there's more to it than that, but the polls the media cites survey considerably less than one percent. I can't recall one that wasn't done by phone.

or are you just happy to see me? Here's an article about communities in the United States limiting the size of houses. I'm neutral on the laws restricting size. On one hand, why shouldn't folks be able to do what they want with their money. On the other hand, if there is some clear disadvantage to the community in folks building these house, then the community has the right to limit house sizes in the same way it can limit liquor licenses or building codes. http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/business/articl...S00010000000001 My brother has a 4,000 square foot house and a maid. For those of us who don't have that kind of scratch, it seems on the ostentatious side, but at least it's not a 17,000 square foot house. Ugh, and even 4,000 sq.ft. seems like a monster to me. That size house for 4 people? It doesn't make any sense. It's not more comfortable. Now, my mom and dad and sister bought a 2,600 sqft house and I've always liked it best of all the Vegas crowd. Recently, they put their house on the market and purchased a 3,300 sqft house. The new one just doesn't feel the same to me. I don't like it as much. It's more work (and work for them means calling me) and not as cozy. That house cost them just shy of a half a million dollars. If they'd bought it around me, it would have cost over a half a million. In LA or Orange counties, it would have cost over a million dollars for such a house. Anyhow, it's strange to think of someone building a 17,000+ sqft house. I guess if you're filthy, stinking rich, you've got to do something to show everyone else.

Polls always survey a tiny slice of the population. Hell, the polls for a presidential election in the United States survey considerably less of a percentage than 500/1.5million. This is a real problem for the United Kingdom if true. On the other hand, I don't know the nature of the polls. Polls are only as good as the folks who create and conduct them. One thing I will say, however, is that some British food is quite good. Some of it is not, but that's true for every type of food I've had, from French to Korean.

I don't know. Maybe only a nutjob would create this thread? Why the hell am I sky pilot. It's a mystery with no solution.
-
First of all, you are a nutjob. Second of all, I've been called a "sky pilot" before. I think that was based on my religion, but I'm not sure. I've been called a lot worse than either one, though.

Yes. :Eldar's grinning at Role-Player icon: Be careful in engaging in this sort of death-pact sort of posting, RP. Of course, you're a die-hard fan whereas Ginth is holding forth just to hear the alphabet bounce around inside his bone box. The issue has gotten completely lost in the massive exchange of quotes, quotes, and more quotes.
-
Yep, ol' Ginth is a "die at my keyboard before I give up" sort of poster, that's for sure. I rather enjoyed Arcanum. Not enough to engage in Ginth's brand of mental auto-eroticism by defending it. Still, I have to say that he has the uncanny knack for writing ponderously long posts that could really use a snip or two. You'd have to use a machete, what with his determined approach and dense style, but I'm confident it could be done. However, to the point, Troika had solid game ideas that didn't pan out in execution. What bothers me isn't that Arcanum had flaws. What bothers me is that Troika didn't seem to learn much between Arcanum and ToEE. That is the problem, not whatever Ginth is trying to foist on us in his multiple page dissertation. Get a grip on yourself, man.

I love my country just as much as anyone else and a damned sight more than most. I love my country because it is imminently worthy of love. So, when others who love to revel in foolish, hateful, and ignorant comments, like Battlewookiee and his brood, I just ignore them. Still, it irritates me to see my countrymen act like fools. Even moreso, I hate seeing our Olympic team foresake sportsman like conduct and instead posture and prance, I find myself rooting for the other team. Miller and Weir are two such individuals. Now, before some idiot stick decides to rail about freedom of speech, I'm not suggesting censorship at all. Rather, I advocate scorn. As a practitioner of my own brand of advice, I will take the opportunity to heap scorn on Bode Miller. Why, you ask? Well, because this is the braniac who says, in describing his less sober adventures on the slopes: "'Talk about a hard challenge right there. I mean, if you ever tried to ski when you

...And I now have XMen Legends. I just don't have xbox live. Dammit. My single player glory must suffice.

Hey, meta might have done a great job at the icon. I tip my hat. :Eldar's hat tipping icon: ...But he still hasn't made an icon longer than his actual post. hahahaha!

I'm taking suggestions on possible purchases. Indigo Prophecy was good, and it put me in the mood for another adventure game. Maybe I'll get Dark Fall II. The wife and I had a good time playing the first one.

If you're not doing anything wrong, why worry?

If such a policy is implemented and allowed to remain, we will be America no longer. Only in America? Never! Never in America. -
That homosexuals deserve dignity and fair treatment was never in question. However, that Dark Raven says it creates a mandate. :Eldar's smiling and handing DR a mead icon:

Leroy Jenkins is the best thing to happen to MMORPGs since the whole craze began.

Come on, folks, Hades would complain if the company gave it to him free of charge. He'd complain that they'd denied him the opportunity to complain.

Sounds good. I'm still trying to figure out how something that originally meant something like private or one's own or peculiar came to mean mentally deficient. Of course, I think meta is a bigot. He's clearly prejudiced against me based on my intelligence. If I create a WoW guild for idiots, however, he'd better be there supporting me. He can support me best by buying the game for me. What really hurt, however, was when he said I wasn't cute enough. I'm 6'2" of cuddly love.

I don't think that was dangerous so much as dangerously stupid. I've been accused of being a satanist for playing DnD before. I've also been accused of being a satan worshipper because I'm Catholic. hahahahaha. People are nuts. Of course, this comes from a guy who's going to dress up in a brocaded tunic and drink honeyed mead all day tomorrow to celebrate his anniversary. *shrug* I'm probably a satanist because of that also.
-
As stupid as that sounds, it was his interview where he literallly says he'll say anything that comes to mind because he was raised to be his own person. Then he proceeded to demonstrate, by saying everything that came to mind, exactly what the quality of his own person was. ...And I don't think it's becoming for an olympian to talk smack before a game. This is especially true when he ends up without a single medal. One of the things he said was that he didn't go to the rink if he just didn't feel like practicing. It was, according to him, his choice. I guess he was right. Don't get me wrong. He has all sorts of mad talent. He's just got an ego that might have benefitted from being taken down a notch or two. EDIT: I'm actually quite glad the Russian kid won. It was a story meant to tug at the heartstrings and, for me, it did. Good for him. With all the mayhem and violence in the world today, it was good to see that hard, honest work and a love of the sport triumph.

Am I the only one glad to see Weir get his comeupance. I'm sick of the "I say whatever I want because if I refrain from saying anything I must be weak and pathetic" mentality. Sometimes, refraining from saying every last thing that pops into your mind says a lot more about and for you than saying everything. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11395808/?displaymode=1006
