I haven't updated a bios since before XP. Well before XP.
-
Actually, I didn't flash my bios for this computer. I have done so, however. It is nail biter. Not because it's all that difficult, but because there's always the chance you've screwed up your bios, which means getting a new motherboard. However, even that isn't so bad as long as your other components work. The thing is, go to the manufacturer's website and make sure you follow the instructions scrupulously. You might have to apply different iterations of the bios in a particular order. Don't just grab the latest and greatest version, as sometimes that doesn't work. At any rate, good luck. Now, I didn't upgrade the bios for my desktop, but I did recently have to update the chipset, which is another beast entirely.

Get a room. I think we need to get out of our funk and restart with TOMBS volume 7.

It's a pretty non-commital statement. He says, "Bringing dx10 to the 360 is a way to help the industry." That's different than saying, "The xbox 360 GPU will be upgraded to dx10."

fantasy grounds: cool tool for online tabletop
Cantousent replied to J.E. Sawyer's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Kaftan, it's your turn. I have to admit that I enjoyed running my game all of... what... four times? Okay, I simply wouldn't have the time no matter what, but I did think that something that allowed me to cut and paste easier would have been better. I haven't tried Fantasy Grounds, but OpenRPG sufficed well enough. If Fantasy Grounds was more user friendly, and the dice roller already sounds better than OpenRPG, then it would be worlds ahead. -
We should probably avoid taking an argument and trivializing it by pushing it to extremes beyond the original intent. Equating a fetus with masturbation isn't just unseemly, it's also a poor argument. However, if your argument, alan, is that we need to draw the line somewhere, as Azarkon and Julian say, then I agree. That's self evident. The question is where to put the line, not whether or not we need one.

Excellent review, Moth. That's a true review in the best TOMBS tradition.

Thread closed. Emo sounds like a character from Sesame Street. Gay is a condition of happiness. Baley is another year older.

My question still stands. Would you decide to abort a fetus because you thought your child would have a cleft lip? The abortion debate is old. This thread provides nothing new to the discussion other than suggesting that abortion would be better than a faceless life. However, that still does little to deepen the moral dilemma. The parents didn't know she would be bereft of face.

Friends, it can be way loud

Not only does Blizzard have money, but the fanbase is still huge. Is it large enough to swamp this board and close it down for a few days? I don't know, but this is not theoretical. It happened some years back when someone took a young designer's comments the wrong way. Let's play nice, everyone.

Aw, your birthday will be here soon, Pixies, and we'll make a thread for you too. Don't be jealous.

Yes, another lame birthday thread. If you don't like it, go participate in any number of other threads. For the rest of you, let's wish a happy birthday for our young writer. Baley, I'll have a glass of wine and toast your years on the rock tonight. I know. I know. You think these threads are lame also. Too bad. God Bless you anyhow!

Oh, I was definitely on a high horse, Lare, but I hold no animosity for you over it. Mostly, I just think it's a bad choice for abortion because the parents didn't know she had this condition before birth. Abortion is a tricky subject. It entails a lot of things, but it boils down to one thing for me. I hate abortion and think it's unhealthy in the vast majority of cases. However, I cannot bring myself to hate the person who has an abortion. I can't even bring myself to judge them because all the people I've known who've had an abortion have felt compelled to have it and been devastated by it. It's tough enough that you feel the need to have an abortion. It's even worse if your friends abandon you over it. I won't be that friend. Finally, the publicity seems odd, but I was focusing on the abortion argment.

First of all, did they know their daughter would be faceless before birth? If not, then I fail to see how this is an argument for abortion. One of my fellow mods decided it's not legitimate to cite the stupidity of an argument, so I'll simply say it was faulty. Second of all, when you look at this little kid, or any other child, and say she'd be better off dead, you're not advocating freedom for your self. You're passing judgement on the worth of a life. Moreover, the life on which you pass judgement isn't even your own. Have you talked to this girl? Do you know what she feels or thinks? We could have discussed any number of issues, but you chose abortion. It's a safe bet, calling for legalized abortion. Since it's already legal, and apparently our Supreme Court decided that the crafters of our Constitution meant to protect it on a federal level, I don't know why it's a point of contention. Hey, you want to throw red meat to the members of WoT, fair enough. ...But using the fate of this poor kid is simply in poor taste. "When Tammy was pregnant, she knew something was wrong. At worst, they thought maybe their baby had a cleft lip." Would you want to abort your child because of a cleft lip?

What a bunch of pretty boys. Rat Bastards! God loves ugly people also. Someone has to play the beast in Beauty and the Beast.

Please refrain from making statements of the "you can't be that stupid" variety. If you find the argument stupid, call the argument stupid, not the person.

Speaking of fanfic, you doofi, control yourselves!

Looks pretty Wiik to me. Actually, it doesn't look so bad. What does it have to do? Play games? I'm sure it will have great games. Nintendo isn't trying to have the Wii displace my home theater system. It can live or die by the games. Not so the XBox and PS3

Ouch, Kor. You need to be a bit more careful with yourself, buddy.

Actually, I spend quite a bit of time each day on dental hygiene. You know, the bristle brush, floss, brushing, and then listerine. I need to arrange a cleaning also.

On one hand, you have to concede that Feargus and friends made a big mistake with Torn. Now, I'm sure there were all sorts of extenuating circumstances, but those aren't our concern. On the other hand, even if we could rest the blame entirely on Feargus' feet, then it still doesn't make sense to write off a new IP because once, a while back, he made mistakes. I figure everyone deserves the chance to make good on past mistakes. That goes for forum monkeys and CEOs. If we were Sega, maybe we'd make a better decision. We're not. We're folks discussing things on a message board, one that Feargus and friends were kind enough to provide for us. They figure they get some hardcore nerd fans and we figure we can discuss games, computers, and God knows what else. So, while we can speculate, and some of it will undoubtedly center on past triumphs and failures, I think we should give Feargus a break. We're talking about someone who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, leaving IP, knocking the dust off his boots, and starting over again. Together with the other folks who took the chance, he worked to secure two huge titles, and now he's pursuing an original setting. I won't lock this thread for folks respectfully voicing doubt in Feargus or the company. When we agreed to the terms and coditions of this board, we signed on as members, not slaves. We debate and discuss, and some will cite past failures. Fair enough. For myself, however, I have a huge amount of respect for Feargus. He's made some mistakes. I've cited some myself. Nevertheless, he didn't face failure only to grab his ball and go home. He kept working and striving. He saw the train coming at Interplay and jumped out of the way. He wasn't satisfied with how the company was running, so, with other like minded folks, he founded his own company. Maybe I won't like the way this new project looks during devolopment. It might never come to anything. ...But I sure as hell have respect for Feargus' dogged determination to hold to his vision. :Cantousent's Gromnir summoning with a huge grin icon:

Great work, my Baley friend.
