It doesn't. And the way weapons and armor break down is in no way realistic. Nor is the amount of hits you can take before going down. Or the amount of enemies you routinely beat open combat. So trying to argue for armor and weapon degradation by playing the "realism" card just doesn't fly with me. I am not claiming that it does. I am saying why it's there, it doesn't mean that it is implemented correctly, but it does effect the gameplay outside of "this is broke need a new one". My thoughts are more in regards to weapons. It also stops the game from literally being "Just another FPS", It would be closer to being "Just another FPS" is those rules were removed entirely. But I will go as far as to say they do need rebalancing. But then again, I'm an odd one I miss food in RPG's.

I disagree... Stalker has an emphisis on realism, well it's trying to recreate a more realistic experience. I am not claiming that it does. The relationship is nothing like that of oblivion as a weapon that is damaged is more likely to misfire, and it also increase general difficulty by making it a bad idea for the player to keep using the same weapon over and over. Removing the weapon damage rebalances the game in favour of the player, so much so it risks breaking one of the apparently core game mechanics as the player fights with weapons often clearly.

I will admit I was tempted... But it's an MMO, I just know I won't like it much and it'll be a waste of money and I'll probably play it once a month... MMO's always make me feel like I am paying for a game (the software) that is not actually as sophisticated as other games, and then I'm paying more money each month to have my experience spoilt by sharing it with loads of kids ranting about PHAT l00t, and leveling up. Plus I reckon MMORPG's will never really have any involving role playing elements, and always be more... Massive Multiplayer Chatroom with Avatars and a few things to keep you hooked, and the endless grind, that is in the end an utterly unrewarding experience... So... MMCWAAAFTTKYHATEGTIITEAUUE. -
I like PEK, spam is awful tho;

Your point? *Sigh* I dunno I don't wanna get much further into it, perhaps it's the fact that I spend alot of time actually writing code and working with REAL broken software, you know the sort that really does crash every five minutes or has horrible bugs. I look at NWN2 and I see some poor performance issues, ruleset issues, perhaps the occasional graphical corruption. I do not see a broken game. I have never actually bought a game that's been released that is totally broken for every single person who's bought it.

I'll take that as a "yes" you are, indeed an ignorant moron. Because i'm dissapointed in a game i paid 50

Guess I always wanted to make games since i can recall, when I was 5 I used to design maps for RPG's... I wrote simplistic programs at 6, and ever since I've been chasing the dream well except for that brief stint playing music between the ages of 15-18...

even if you consider the game broken in it's current state it's absolute idiocy to say it cannot be fixed.

"Dressed in Black" - Ulver. Is the light of the light Monumental Or something? White on white Is a vampire In the mirror Eternal? Like hell We are All dressed in black We dug our own graves A long time ago

Tombraiders camera is awful, it's pure vomit! There is no excuse.

I've heard some dumb comments in my time but this is the dumbest!, a patch can actually do anything the developer wishes to do to the game. This ranges from fixing bugs, and new game content and features through to new bugs, and removal of content and or features.

LOLZ Redheads are usually nuts.... But that's probably why i like 'em, I once dated a redhead who found pleasure in punching her own face till her nose bled when she was but a child, naturally she'd stopped by the time I was with her, but that "Crazy" attitude was still in her, and she'd casually speak of her experiences as if they were normal.

But.... I like redheads!

It's FF, it can't be good. FF's are consistant in sucking. -
I suppose we have a difference of opinion, as I suppose intention of use is always key for me. I generally take the opinion of, is it useful for making a game (perl is useful for making tools, python is aswell, especially file conversion), but the core needs for me are simply, how useful is the language for making a game? I'm often in two minds about BASIC languages being a good option for newb's, on the one hand it's easy to get something off the ground quickly, but a pain in the ass to build anything of substancial weight. No language is bad, not even brainf**k, as it has a potential purpose, so it's more a matter of taste. Also perl looks pretty ugly.

"Another World" was the first game that I would say was pure art. Most of the game was developed by one man(Eric Chahi), whom I personally have alot of respect for. For me he captured in "Another World" a feeling of solitude that I myself have experienced while developing games alone, the time it takes, and the dedication it takes... Have an effect on the mind, I think "Another World", captures that and places the player in a bizzare position of witness to that. Those are as much his words as my own, and I can't help but agree. Also, the polygonal look of Another World was certainly inspirational, and the introduction and game itself is a classic, regardless of if a person likes it or not.
